I absolutely agree that most people cannot control their freedom. The state of society is saddening in the west. Although I would say that people are being encouraged to live thoughtlessly by things like the media. If this was stopped maybe society would become healthy again without a totalitarian government.

I have been in and around Asia for a long time, and my issue with China is specifically things like lack of autonomy and freedom of speech. I don't really want to be constantly monitored and expected to espouse the views of someone I may disagree with, it's suffocating. Like, people whined about the COVID vaccine globally, which I think is ridiculous, but most don't understand there was 0 choice in China. I also don't want to have to rely on a VPN just to get non-government propaganda news. Shit's one step away from North Korean levels of closed off. Also, holy fucking shit I like seeing the sun without having to wear a fucking air mask because of pollution holy shit.

No country is free of corruption. People like our prime minister Sanna Marin was paying for her familys food with her expenses account or something. Not something you can do, hence corruption. There's the nepotism which is a sort of corruption too. And smaller bosses in the governmental business keep on taking money from places they shouldn't. The list of sins goes on and on. I'd say Finland is a 2-3ish in corruption, which should be the lowest in the world.
2023-06-01 21:51

i would defend the prime minister's right to use that account for food and so on, but she loses that right when she moves in full-time to the prime minister's official residence with her family. i suspect the account was initially created so that the minister can maintain two residences during her time in office. in other words a small benefit to lessen the burden of the job. making sure that the residence is stocked with food and supplies even if you're not living there 24/7.

srsly? i mean north and central Italia looks very good. i know that south of your country is worse than north by avg salary/standats of living, etc. i was in Piemonte , Lombardia, Toskana, Abruzzi and all was good. good roads, good people. everything is clean and tidy. it seemed to me that taxes go where they need to go. or am I wrong? btw comparing to my country, when any provincial town or village is just fucked up, Italy was very good. except Rome is a very dirty city (by eu standards, for the RF it is very clean)

Too often politicians run projects that funnel the public money into their friend's pockets. Industrials, banks, and co (basically the capitalist class) finance campaigns, share networks and use their media's to support certain politicians in order to get access to public markets later. It's all rigged. Natural protected lands are declared buildable, toxic waste is declared non toxic, etc ...

They didn't, but money also didn't 'just disappear'. The country was invaded, close to 1 million drafted, 8 million population decline (refugees), bombings, electricity outages, 20% territory lost and state still pays pensions etc. etc.. This money helped Ukraine sustain itself. The quality of life hasn't dropped to the bottom thanks to it I can't argue that portion of the money might have 'vanished' due to corruption, but it just can't be as much as you're implying

it takes both sides to be corrupt, dont you think? for exemple, it takes a lot of bribes for a norwegian oil company to get away with crimes against the environment. in brazil, the norwegian mining company, hydro, made a mess in a region of the amazon forest, contaminating all the local water they operated, reaching the point of killing people because of it... someone from brazil took their bribe and thats it, no justice whatsoever. of course, countries that get affected by this should put them on trial, but u know, we are talking about BIG companies, they know very well who to bribe

I cannot remember the last time a politician has been caught being bribed or bribed someone else. It is expected that the politicians here act like normal people, no special treatment. If this kind of thing came out, the politicians would not only lose their careers they would go to jail. We are really uptight about this stuff. Our former prime minister bought a nice suit with taxpayer money and he was on blast for weeks for his "misconduct" and wasting taxpayer funds. We are talking about like a couple of thousands of grands, literal peanuts. Even though it's normal in Denmark that your employer pays for you clothing (If they have demands for what type of clothing you wear like a suit, protective shoes, labeled clothing etc. etc.) No special treatment is really the motto.

I don't even know, but it's so high. Guys from other countrys, need to know that we have a vicepresident that was sentenced to 6 years of prision, but how we have a weak system of law, they need to "verify the sentece". In addition to that, she can't be arrested, because it's part of the government. Argentina xD.

10 There is a legal process underway, due to which the entire government would have to resign in an actual democracy. Literally noone cares about it and not even the direct offenders will be given an actual sentence.

No idea but maybe like a 3 or 4, I wanna put it higher but our level of corruption doesn't come close to countries like Brazil, Russia etc. - or even the USA which I'd put at 6 or 7. Tbh I think most of our politicians are just incompetent, not corrupt.
2023-06-02 14:18

Hello I am from Romania, this is the mother of coruption. My country just cleared a 2 BILION $ debt of a petrol company, and the teaching staff are on strike because they earn like 500$ a month, that money from the oil company would resolve the strike for sure ! But hey, my politicians had takken 10% in theyr own pocket. WELCOME TO ROMANIA, THE MOTHER OF CORUPTION. IS COOL THAT YOU CAN BRIBE COPS ALL AROUND TOWN AND DRIVING WITH NO LICENSE AND ALCOHOL AND OTHER STUFF :D

yes, russia has a very strong, not at all unhinged and deranged lunatic president. We could learn a lot. Really a shame we don't also have unlimited terms for the same guy over and over. That is never a bad idea.

One of the least corrupted countries but as we know corruption is everywhere so I don't know how much to give. But comparing to powerhouses like Russia, Brazil, USA, Turkey etc, can't give more than a 2 or 3.
