Check your game files. 1 of them is corrupted because you incorrectly shut down your game. That's it. I also had this issue several times.

had this happen to me the other day, i verified game files about 7 times and kept restarting and it just eventually worked, still dont know why, make sure to restart steam before each verify also

I've had that issue appear for a couple of days. I've done a lot of things - changed my name, my profile pic, cleared cache, fixed the folder where I have my cs installed in from the settings menu on steam, went offline/online mode - some of these worked just once or for a couple of hours, but the problem came back. But what finally worked, since I haven't had that issue again, I replaced a DLL file in the steam folder.

I had this error. There is a reddit thread with a ton of troubleshooting steps. Restarting PC, steam services, reinstalling didn't fix it for me. The issue was my PC's time needed to be resynched and then it worked. Go to Date &Time settings in windows and click sync now. Maybe that works. If not it will be one of the first 5 reddit threads that pop up when you search. GL

This worked for me in this exact order: 1. restart Steam 2. verify integrity of game files (right click on cs in library -> properties -> local files) 3. clear Steam download cache (Steam -> Settings -> Downloads) 4. Launch steam and go play

I get this 100% of the times I play offline map to practice smokes, flashes etc. After that when I queue for MM i get that problem. My solution is always close the game, verify integrity, and then restart the game. If that doens't work, I just restart steam. Always works for me.

actually yes. I feel like the percentages of people who cheat from a country correlate with what percentage they are in terms of player base. Most cheaters are Russian but only because they have by far the most players as a single country around here

What works for me sometimes (but idk if just luck) is to go to steam page, go offline, close steam, launch the game and turning online again. But again, last time it happened to me, nothing could be done and just wait it should be good at some point.

Works for me most of the time, I exit the game and relaunch it from system tray, sometimes it takes 2-3 attempts but I don't have to verify the files or reinstall the game. Fairly quick fix, might work for some of you.
