in truth, there is no such thing as "one or more individuals in the privacy of their own homes". all our actions negatively or positively impact those around us. whether or not this particular person was doing something immoral and thus damaging isn't even the extent of the problem. the main issue is whether or not we have collectively agreed that his actions are immoral and thus should be punished as harshly as anything else. such things should not be inherently illegal just because it appears to fall under a certain set of laws. the legality of an action should perfectly coincide with the people's perception of its morality because it impacts their lives as well and is not just an abstract concept and all things immoral should be punished as severely as all things moral should be rewarded. harsh sentencing is a must and if it isn't, there is no problem to begin with.
