I'm looking at purchasing a second hand TV. I see a lot of curved 65" TVs for pretty cheap (around $300-600 Australian). I'm just wondering are they better than flat TVs or is it just a pointless thing? I plan to watch a lot of youtube on them and TV shows.

Curved TVs are/were such a weird gimmick. It's like the 3D TV phase in late 2000s imo. I had a curved TV and it actually made viewing from angles, worse. I personally would just buy a flat TV.
