I think I know what you mean, I'm sure NiKo has felt the pressure of having to carry his team many times when things go south, especially in those teams when he had to IGL or didn't have an AWPer. I also think this is one aspect that separates the truly great players from just really good players: The willingness to take on more responsibilities than an ordinary player. That being said, he always struck me as someone willing to take that responsibility. In fact, I think he's a classic example of someone who took on too many responsibilities in the past and tried to do it all on his own, which ended up costing him. Maybe he doesn't want those responsibilities anymore, who knows. Looks and attitude can be deceiving.
He still seems to be weirdly "cursed" unfortunately, though I would like to believe that he has improved in this aspect. I think his whole career is pretty hard to evaluate. Especially in recent times it feels like he has become more of a teamplayer. Was that the right choice, or should he be playing more selfishly in order to win? I really don't know. I think NiKo respected HooXi in the beginning, but then some mistakes on HooXi's part started piling up, and when him and Swani picked vertigo against Fnatic at the major it was probably too much. But most of this is pure speculation, we can't really know what's going on inside. I also think G2 are lacking a coach rn. Of course they have Swani, but he's not really an intimidating presence, is he? Maybe having a "mellow" IGL is fine, as long as the coach can reel NiKo in, as well as ensure that NiKo gets the resources he needs to perform.
