The point being that FaZe Clan were already in disarray before Coldzera joined, it just didn't pan out ultimately, the move itself isn't solely to blame necessarily... it was just bad timing.
It also didn't immediately fail, FaZe and Coldzera respectably fizzled out afterward.
At the time, obviously Coldzera was the hottest prospect but clearly wasn't as comfortable in an international roster as opposed to a BR speaking one + less people baiting for him.

They also had a lot of success with Device before the aftermath, so that's not all that accurate either if we focus solely on the transfer and not the eventual outcome after about a year or so first - I can't quite remember when it fell apart.
I think it's relatable and more accurate to make the claim that device was the worst ever transfer post-mortem outcome but only then, which is a separate debate, NiP nor device could not possibly foresee such an outcome, let alone begin to understand the ramifications afterwards.

As soon as NiP signed Device, they were a Top 10 team and won a tournament off of the back of it.
The transfer itself was a good move for NiP, we can't deny that. What we can argue about is obviously the aftermath, though...
People only remember what happened to NiP posthumously after the honeymoon period, not the good times because obvious it is definitely overshadowed.

Yeah but it wasnt 100% flop.I think that Faze with Coldzera was just straight bad and it's impressive that they won 2 tournaments together.I remember those times when Cold was solid,Niko was Niko,Broky was average,Rain underperforming and there was either washed Olof(that sometimes performed worse than a average coach) or Kjaerbye who had one good tournament in Faze and that's it.It looked like current OG and i wouldnt say that was a flop more like smth between(yes and no).Coldzera became washed in Faze and he was benched,played in COL(another dead roster) and came back to Brazil to IGL? XD

To an extent, they just didn't play him cos he liked the spotlight and they would rather humble down to earth individuals. However whenever they put him on the field he seem to played well. If I remember correctly he didn't like the mentality there and requested a move.

They got the money back from the purchase when they sold him to astralis. He also didn't get paid when he was away. The trouble he caused though was in the roster having so many changes and temporary stand-ins.

well as I heard from yekindar (video on Jame channel), liquid had weak info and were weak overall compared to eu or cis teams when they signed him, so I don't think we should blame shox
he was just an old washed player with lack of motivation, but it definitely wasn't the worst roster move. device to nip or c9 colossus were much much worse

Do you realise how awful he was compared to what CoL paid for him? He was paid one of the highest salaries out there and he posted like 0.95 ratings. That is atrocious for the investment the org put into him. G2 and being a stand in with the goat IGL is a different story but from 100 Thieves to CoL was one of the most underwhelming signings ever imo.

He had like 1.02 which isn’t good but he actually played 25% of his games with a stand in (actual stat) over the year he was in that team. Legit every person on that roster had a down year compared to their previous year statistically. Also some of the blame has to be on CoL imo for chasing the biggest name available without accounting for roles at all. It’s a situation that would have been difficult for any player to succeed in imo (not denying that jks didn’t succeed)
If we consider the amount of money the org invested into him (transfer fee and salary) he was one of the most underwhelming signings. He was one of the best paid players back then and played like a bang average player without any notable results for the org ever. He was a massive failure.

Take off your NiP glasses and remember: they were top3 when he played. Coldzera to FaZe was 1M payout and he NEVER (!) came close to his primetime and left that clan poorly, seems washed now and NiP at least got their paycheck back from Astralis. So from a neutral perspective there is only one transfer that is contender to be #1 worst csgo transfer ever and its Coldzera to FaZe.

He did good for the time he actually played for them but its because Nip were kinda fucked with million standins and roster changes due to uncertainty of device situation. Or atleast thats how it looked like since it took so long to build a lineup with no standins.

idk about the device one but es3tag played 4x times less in c9 than coldzera in faze for half the price
also faze had some decent results and coldzera was a much more proven player, cloud9 really did nothing and disbanded

Three transfers stand out the most by far above the competition:
Sunny to Ence, Destroyed Ence as finnish org, Sunny, Allu, whole finnish scene and by extension, Jamppi, Sergej, among few others in upcoming years. Funny enough, Aleksib was maybe the only one who survived all that intact
Hen1 from Furia to Oplano. Destroyed Furia chances to win anything ever. By extension gave Junior chance in Furia which was also so stupid move and went nowhere.
Bubzki to Astralis. destroyed the career of one most promising danish player. He didn't even have a slot in the team when he came, since rolewise he would have fit dupreeh roles, but the persons in holiday were Glaive and Xypx. He ended up competing for Xypx roles, which was like putting Naf to entry player, dies not fit at all. In the end didn't even get a chance even after Device left and Lucky was put to rifle. Its just so fucked up that whole thing, but the role clashes make this so much worse than most other transfers.

A single superstar has never been enough to win in CS. That's why Ropz went to FaZe, why s1mple didn't win until b1t, why NiKo has never won a major, etc. Did anyone really look at the Astralis roster with Xyp9x and Lucky and expect BlameF to carry them to tournament wins over teams like FaZe? The answer is no btw.

they did just because of their past, at least definitely not underperformances like not even qualifying to the Majors, not even talking about at least winning some mickey mouse tournaments for confidence boost. FaZe and NiKo are different topics, NiKo still hasnt won a Major while arguably having the best roster in the scene, FaZe should be winning way more too on paper. and you dont need any stars to win something in CS, look how fast we are forgetting Rio and thats not the only example

Is Jame not a star? He's one of the best IGLs in the scene and definitely one of the best fragging IGLs. Outsiders won because they had a well rounded roster, fl1t and fame were playing like stars even though they fell off soon after. Well rounded rosters win tournaments. Astralis has not had a well rounded roster since 2019. BlameF has been the carry ever since he joined. You do not win tournaments, even "mickey mouse tournaments", with players like Lucky, gla1ve, washed xyp9x, mistr, farlig, etc.
