"time is a construct of men" that's wrong in so many ways. Time isn't man made, "dates" "days" "years" "seconds" etc are man mane, time itself isn't. go to any class on theoretical physics, people have empirically proven time is an important, real, characteristic of this universe.

Time does and does not exist at the same time (no pun intended).
Why time exists? Because we time can be expressed in terms of eg. the decay of a cell. Because a cell has a finite existence, with a forming, being and a death, one can express its life cycle in terms of "time" which humans have given numerical unit values to eg. hours, minutes, seconds etc.
Or as you said, light travels at distance at a certain speed in our dimension / space fabric; hence time can be a part of that equation, by again, using math, which is universal.
Why time does not exist? Because even if the the cell has a finite life cycle, and it can be observed and expressed in units of time, and the same with light, it does not matter. Time is always just "now" and anything prior or past of "now" does not exist yet, or no longer exists. There is only one unit of time, which is "now"

Ehh if you measure a cube of gold its 1 kg and if you measure the cube of gold and add 100g its 1.1kg. the original cube is still there as you can see it. just because it changed doesnt mean it doesnt exists.

you can talk for eternity if time is "made up" or not but the thing is it exists because matter exists.
if universe was an empty space time would have no purpose. it wouldn't matter if it's there or not.
only matter gives time a purpose even if it just means that a particle travels from point a to point b within the space.

i think, maybe time exists as a side effect of consciousness, or vice versa. like they're a package deal. so maybe it's not ultimately real, and there's a world of the timeless behind our existence, like plato's cave kind of, but it's real in some sense, though that may be a subjective sense (of "now-ness")
Time in physics isn't anything, really. Its a dimension in relativity, because its a model of differential geometry. Relativity is just a good enough model that explains and predicts the data we currently have best. Buts its just that : a model, math. The "true nature" of the universe is a metaphysical question which can't be even answered in the first place.
So besides some funny conversations, its useless to discuss.

In a way you are correct, but not really. Let me explain: time is just space in potency. There are two kinds of space: space in act , which correspond to the so called space or present and where movement (change occurs) and space in potency (which is the realm of possibility, where movement can occur given the previous configuration in act). The second is what we call time.
Time is in a way intrinsically linked to matter, which is pure potency. Pure space would correspond to the Form which is pure Act. Reality is hilemorphistic, meaning that it is an combination of form and matter, space and time, act and potency.
time is just not accurate, as we know that if it's around a black hole, it gets influenced by it's massive gravity.
If time doesn't exist, explain the time cube.
