Love the show, it's currently ongoing. Feel like I need a rewatch as a lot of stuff is happening in every episode. I enjoy that the show doesn't shy away from death and tragedy and yuri.

L's death wasn't the real ending, it was the beginning imo. one of the main points of Death Note was that Kira wasn't fighting against L, but against the ideology of justice. even if he had beaten Near and Mellow in the finale, who knows if some O and P, "Oliver" and "Paul" wouldn't appear to take him down. i think names were chosen intentionally because alphabetical order goes like "L, M, N". once Kira got L killed, Mellow and Near appeared to investigate him.
I think the whole point was that no matter how smart Yagami was, he would never become "god" because eventually he'd slip up, and there would always be people to take him down.
and that ending scene were Yagami is dying, lying on the stairs, L appears in his imagination for a few seconds in front of him but his face is covered by some metal piece, implying that Yagami was fighting against ideology and not just some human with face.

Also you can interpret the ending in so many other ways, like one of them is that, this world is just an stupid game and it will never become perfect. nothing matters and just the journey that Light had was fun. it leaves you with so many nihilistic thoughts and makes you think about yourself, your life, existence and everything. JJK has a lot of ideas from other popular shounen like demon inside MC (Naruto), HxH like power system, Bleach like characters (author is a HUGE fan of Bleach), etc. But it executes those ideas FAR better (except HxH cuz that shit's fire)
S1 was merely to set up the background. The important characters, the backstory, the world building, the power system, etc. Like I said, S2 is going to dial it straight up to 11.
If I have to compare it to Naruto, its going to go from-
Introduction arc > first small serious arc > training arc and then directly > Pain arc.
Except unlike the Pain Arc, the consequences are IMMENSE.
Its also very fast paced as in doesn't waste time in useless stuff we know happens one way or other (like training or some dialogue or small fights where the OP guy easily defeats an NPC).
Look at losers +1'ing the ''in'' animes be it JJK or JoJo.
The real gem here is Gintama. Anyone who watches animes for purposes other than laughing is a loser.

Damn, me too. The animation seems less detailed and low quality (like when Toji is attacking Gojo) especially for a scene as important as that. But Gojo doing that finger thing while carrying Riko looked great on the other hand

animation seems really off, considering how great the animation in s1 was. mappa had a lot of time animating s1, as far as i know, but they are working on like three or four different animes this year.

Except the story and character motivations didnt make sense since they went anime original while keeping the hyped fights from the manga. Shit had 0 buildup and random fights with characters we havent ever seen before, while also cutting out the best fight from the tokyo ghoul manga with extremely important plot details ant its great ending. Its literally a dogwater adaptation. And i dont mean that about the series itself, because after experiencing the trash that was root a i read the manga start to finish, and the manga is a banger. If that is your benchmark for good anime, im sorry to say you have some genuinely terrible taste

Anime based on original source materials are infinitely better than those of adaptations. Even if it's not fundamentally an original, deviations must be made to accommodate for the differences in the medium.
The show was different and it was good. I just don't understand sourcetroons who argue at every possibility that the show is somehow worse than the manga.
I don't give a singular fuck as long as I enjoy the anime itself. And that I did. I even gave it a rewatch recently and gained even more appreciation for the first two seasons. Genuine top stuff that isn't made nowadays.

sure, i agree that there need to be some deviations when adapting it into a different medium and that it doesnt need to match the manga frame for frame. but not in cases like tokyo ghoul root A, the deviations should not change a big part of the story and make it nonsensical, which it absolutely was. It isn't even related to being a bad adaptation, I watched the anime first.
It's just not a good anime. But whatever floats your boat, we all have our opinions.
Also what you said originally was original > source, which is why I disagreed because thats just not true. The basis for the story should still always be the source, unless were talking about fully original anime. Also tf, is a "troon"? :D
