just another career path. It was on my top3 list after HS and really considered it but went other way.
2023-06-08 11:07
heavily depends on which country
2023-06-08 11:08
it's for people with no life skills whatsoever.
2023-06-08 11:16
A lot of waiting and it's a different type of environment but very fun nonetheless
2023-06-08 11:18
Greenland doesnt have military
/end of thread
2023-06-08 11:26
it depends on the country. i don’t necessarily regret joining bc it opened a lot of doors for me and gave me stable income for 7 years but nearing the end i got sick of it
2023-06-08 15:34
i really admire special forces but i wouldn't fight for any country
2023-06-08 15:35
Imo it’s mainly for losers and <80 IQ patriots
2023-06-08 15:38
biggest losers
you are going to die to defend Biden or any other corrupt politicians assholes? no ty
2023-06-08 15:40
I'll be honest with you then.
At 18 years old in Denmark we have enlistments. Not everyone has to go the military, but there is a chance.
I honestly think this idea is horrific and really stupid, It seems like the thing you would do during world war 2, to make sure you had an army in case we got invaded.
In Denmark it works in a way where if you pull the number to go to the military, you can just wait it out until your done with your education. (Also meaning university and such).
Problem with having to do this, is that when you then complete your education you have to go to another place to get "another kind of education" (military training), and in the end you might forget some of the things you learned in uni.
When your done in the military you all of the sudden have to find a job that fits your education, which can overall be super hard if you lost your on fire streak from when you were done with uni.
TLDR; I think it depends on which country you are in, but personally I wouldnt like it, since im more of a Nerd. I also believe it should be up the one self if you want to be a soldier, and not a random number.
2023-06-08 15:42
military sucks you cant play csgo either watching csgo major ( i've been there for 2 years )
2023-06-08 15:51
If you're passionate about the military and feel a need to join, you should. Most volunteer military's have a preliminary contract (3 to 4 years). So if it's not your cup of tea, you don't re-sign and move on in life.
I joined the armed forces after I finished college because I had a huge desire to give it a go, and I don't regret doing it for a second. I did 8 years in the Canadian Military and got a lot of good experience and life skill from it. But I knew I didn't want to do it for 25 years and moved on.
2023-06-08 15:54
I think it is a perfect idea
2023-06-08 15:55
In Poland, if you study towards it and you're planning to make a solid career, then it's great. Great living, early retirement. If you like military in general, you're interested in it and you see yourself in it, then it's an amazing idea.
But if you are planning to join the military to become a solider, and never rise through the ranks then you're quite a loser. Right now, they offer you almost 2 times the minimum wage straight away so it's very appealing for young men who don't want to go to college, or think of anything different.
Personally, I wouldn't join the military as there are definitely better options. It's not the worst idea in the world tho.
2023-06-08 15:56
Not for me. In my case the army was full of retarted people who act like 16 yo kids.
2023-06-08 16:01
If you are dumb as a brick and you have no skills what so ever military can be considered, else it is just a shit career path in all ways possible
2023-06-08 16:03
Only if it's Mongolian navy.
2023-06-08 16:06
i am against it, i am a pacifist.
2023-06-08 16:11
military service in israel is mandatory, i myself served as a combat soldier. while i think it's important that we enlist and serve, my country doesn't take orthodox jews and some other religions unless they volunteer, which is unfortunate.
i think that if someone doesn't want to serve in the army, he should at least serve the country in other ways- we have something that's called "a service to the nation" which is spending 2 years at hospitals, mda (basically our red cross) and places like that, but this is not a default thing like serving in the army yet.
2023-06-08 16:18
im going to join the military academy when i finish highschool. hopefully ill be an officer in the croatian army.
2023-06-08 16:25
Surprised Anton hasn't replied already (or I'm blind)
2023-06-08 16:30
It's good if you like being a slave and be told what to do without thinking about the reasons or consequences, pretty much a npc thing
2023-06-08 17:05
seems like a useless and crazy occupation to me. literally being a madman ready to kill people. better watch cs, drink beer, enjoy life, improve yourself and work from home
2023-06-08 17:10
If you have really low IQ no skills at all, like to not think at all and just follow mostly super stupid orders, Yes join the Army.
If not learn something get a proper job or invest or do something enjoyable with your life.
2023-06-08 17:10
I thought of joining the Indian Navy because of how cool the uniform looks (and serve my country primarily ofcourse), but backed out after researching about the training process.
2023-06-08 17:13
good for y'all poor clowns go in there and die for us the rich
2023-06-08 17:12
Doing military services was the worst period of my life du tue how blatanly racist the Swedes in försvarsmakten were. Although now afterwards im super proud of myself for doing that but I could never join the military. I don't have the same beliefs as we have in sweden nor do i want to fight the americans war.
Dont become a soldier, its social suicide.
2023-06-08 17:15
I was an officer a few years ago, it’s cool if you’re slotted into an operational battalion, but other than that civilian life is 100x better. I make much more money and I’m much more free
2023-06-08 17:16
Join the military only if u want to understand trained dogs better
2023-06-08 17:18
many people say "depending on your country", while it is somewhat true if we re talking about poor and under developed countries but in other case, it depends way more on your personality rather than the country you're serving in.
here are some examples :
not many talk about that, whether you take the normal path or the officer path. that is very important for military career.
whether you can stay motivated for long; a lot of jobs in the military are repetitive, just like civil jobs but they might be harder and more dangerous ( for example civilian mechanic and navy mechanic, both do pretty much the same job on paper, only navy mechanic dives down to unimaginary places in the ship which is way harder) , sometimes as a civilian you can change your job tomorrow but in case of military its way harder and you might be stuck in a position you dont like for way longer than you can imagine. there are a lot more to it than just 2 of these examples.
2023-06-08 17:26
i were a trainer in army but it was ok paid job but shitty shifts if u dont go up for 4y school in finland but didnt want it
2023-06-08 17:42
Joined the marines at 18 straight out of high school and its just another job. I'm only an aircraft mechanic so its much different than someone in infantry. Im also not even that big on politics, I just see it as a way for me to gain experience for after I get out.
2023-06-08 17:47
It's not fun. We have a mandatory service and although I paid for the short-term mandatory service, I could not enjoy my time there. Maybe it would be more fun to be in the higher ranks and get truly professional military training..
2023-06-08 17:50
It's definetly not how you imagine it, The way it truly is cannot be seen on any video anywhere.
Depends heavily on the country & the pay. If you really like it but it doesn't pay enough you can always be a reservist.
2023-06-08 17:59
I'd never join the US military, no. I think the US is involved in way too many foreign affairs. At best, I don't wanna support that system. At worst, I don't wanna be responsible for the deaths of innocent people in Syria/Yemen/Afghanistan/etc.
2023-06-08 18:07
Both of my grandfathrs and my dad, all of my uncles on both sides of my family served in the RAF/Army.
With the current state of this country/EU/USA mess there is not a chance I would sign up and neither would both of my brothers.
2023-06-08 18:09
nope, never
we should be talking about demilitarization instead, it's 2023
2023-06-08 18:20
Don't really have an option to say no. But I think its good here. Obviously its mandatory service so not exactly like "joining". Will be going there soon and I'm really excited. Good way to get more fit while you get to do some cool and once in a lifetime stuff. I think being a soldier would be pretty good especially if you don't really know what to do with your life yet.
2023-06-08 18:25
I think it all depends on the country really. My friend is in the Navy and he travels around the world, feels like hes on holiday more than a job
2023-06-08 18:30
Some dudes insult you and makes you do physical activities? Then you have to shoot at farmers because some random dude told you haha? Get a life never join the military.
2023-06-08 18:42
why would you volunteer to be a pawn to pedophile elites lmao
2023-06-08 18:44
Not a fan of the idea of becoming a sacrificial pawn. To be a good soldier, you need to have disposition towards it, which I certainly am not. I dislike violence, I hate taking risks. And I do not like following someone's else's orders. All of that work, all of that risk, to fight for something else than things that I myself personally care about. Someone has to do it, but I'm not the piece that fits.
2023-06-08 18:49
if you have bid dick join if you tiny pink pussy user dont join.....ez
2023-06-08 18:53
Decently paid job that can actually be fun sometimes. Almost everyone likes to shoot rifles, throw grenades, train their bodies
2023-06-08 19:06
Just make sure to stay away from the infantry and youll be fine, dont make the same mistake i made
2023-06-08 19:20
I'm in the process of leaving it due to pacifism as a SBNR.
For some reason it's not really acceptable for people who are not religious. But I'm not a quitter
2023-06-08 19:25
I guess i qualify to answer this question as i'm currently active duty. You got 2 options.
1 - Join if you want to, you will not regret it and if you do it wasn't for you, and you can just go civilian again, but remember it will not be easy, but the hard work pays off.
2 - Don't join, but make sure that you are absolutely 100% certain that it isn't for you, because if you wake up as a 30+, 40+ or 50+ year old, and suddenly feel regret that you never served, then it is too late, so you should make up your mind while you are young.
You can always watch videos, and speak to people who have done or are doing it, and maybe that will help make up your mind. But honestly i've served with many, that thought it was what they wanted, but they ended up finding out it wasn't for them anyway, but one thing they all have in common, is that i never heard a single soldier saying he/she regretted it, you will always have something good to take away from it all.
2023-06-08 19:30
I'm not a girl to join the military
Also we already have one MilitaryGirl why should I go
2023-06-08 19:31
I always thought about it as a good backup plan. If u've failed to get good education and decent job, u can always join the military and become successful social unit.
2023-06-08 19:45
Waste of time for most people
I guess if you're truly desperate and have no other options, it's good.
2023-06-08 19:48
It's better if you commission as an officer
2023-06-08 19:52
Not nowadays apparently, but during safe times should be good of course
2023-06-08 19:54
i would never, unless i was somehow extremely desperate
2023-06-08 20:32
I'd rather die homeless under a bridge than risk my life for Z0G but you do you.
2023-06-08 20:37
I'm not dying for an oil company
2023-06-08 20:59
Military is good and fun for training I think every man should own those skills. but i would never go to another country to fight for anyone or anything. I would defend my borders with my life tho
2023-06-08 21:18
I served in the army for almost 10 years. I was enlisted first, then commissioned.
i think the military is an excellent way to transition into an adult. my parents taught me to do the right thing, they taught me the value of a dollar, and they instilled good school/work habits.
but there's nothing like the military. you do things their way, which is the only way. they teach structure, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and patience. everything they teach you has a purpose, which is to accomplish the mission and keep your people safe.
i jumped out of planes and helicopters, i used high explosives, shot thousands and thousands of rounds of ammo, i've been in armored vehicles, lead soldiers, and administered an incredible amount of training. there's no other profession like the military. you get paid (quite well) to play with all those awesome gadgets and toys. plus... you're in the best shape of your life.
however, you go where they tell you..... family life can be very, very difficult. you might be at one base for 3-5 years, then they'll ship you off across the country for another 3-5 years. your kids get uprooted from school, your wife needs to change jobs and social groups... it can be very stressful
i've been out for 5 years. i think about it all the time.... if you're single and looking for something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than what you have now, i think it's absolutely worth it.
2023-06-08 21:18
Lets put it this way; I think its very important that working in army is respectable career option for everyone. If not, it could easily become the place for everyone incapable to do anything else. I wouldn't want such people to be the only kind of people to be in charge of everyone else / protect everyone else if its ever necessary. Having all kinds of people in there also prevents the army from becoming political piece of most kinds.
There are good and bad things working in military. Generally both the job and payment is quaranteed. Risk going to war is pretty much zero (unless total war), unless you want it yourself. Not for me, but nothing to be ashamed of.
2023-06-08 21:36
Was my plan b although it would've just been for getting paid for fitness, firing guns in a shooting range, driving a tank... All the training stuff. As I think I have a pretty realistic imagination of being in a war, I gotta admit that I might not have the guts.
Could be different if it came to defending ourselves, but I wouldn't want to go abroad, risking my life for the business of someone else.
2023-06-08 22:13
If I will not succed in my job or I will not like anything I will do, I will go military. Military rn is really good, atleast in Poland. You have elastic hours, they will give you food and money. They will teach you discipline and provide physical fitness, and in Poland you can retire very early. And there are bunch of bonuses for you. It's good in poland, idk about ur country
2023-06-08 22:28
i have to and it will be shit
2023-06-08 22:33
imagine going to war to die because some politicians fucked something up lol
2023-06-08 22:36
Considering educating myself in the military, tech stuff
2023-06-08 22:38
It is basically selling your body to the government. Basically the same as a prostitute
2023-06-08 22:39
I was almost done joining when I was 18 but girlfriend got in the way back then. I should have joined anyway.
2023-06-08 22:52
TURKEY MILITARY STRONGEST MILITARY IN NATO !
2023-06-08 23:01
More and more negative , chances are you will be sent to die for globohomo in some 'bankers' war .
2023-06-08 23:19
I don't like shooting, apart from video games. I've shot a gun and it feels wired. Imagine you can hurt little and nice things in a blink of an eye. Does not suit me well. Neither the other 99900 possible injury types you can inflict on yourself and others. War is for the enslaved or sadomasochists. I don't go much close no either of these. For a fkn 33 years I've been solving problems, big and small only with the power of reasoning and mutual understanding. Conflict is for hunter-gatherer lifestyle, or abstract entertainment/recreation, please keep it there.
2023-06-08 23:24
I think mandatory service would fix a lot of issues in the west with people (i.e. Purpose, regimented daily routine, fitness, sense of national community)
2023-06-09 00:40
My thoughts? I will never risk my life for a few retarded people in the charge just to hide in their bunker when the war starts
2023-06-09 01:07
Joining the military is a chad move.
2023-06-09 01:11
Good
I'd join aswell, but I got a criminal record. Didn't even get conscripted because of it
2023-06-09 01:55
you are gonna get paid for do sport and shoot weapons... also not waste money on house or foord....if you see like that... Also you are be girded a with lot of semi animals people, but not all.
If they call you for war you are screwed
2023-06-09 02:44
good for life, you can learn a lot of things
2023-06-09 02:52
joining the military because you want to protect your country? nah, join because you want to ki--
2023-06-09 08:01
No a chance.Hate everything around it(i just like my legs).Respect people that do it tho but i think that u can be more ambtious
2023-06-10 14:47
Can be good, can be bad, depending on your country.
In Germany it can be a great choice if you want to study either despite bad grades or if you’re can afford it on your own.
I’m thinking about joining for basic training in three years when I’ve finished my Emergency medic training
2023-06-11 20:35
I look forward to it. Got accepted into a good job in the army that will give me a lot of career paths in the future.
Also I think that the army is what makes kids men , and it also makes you meet people you wouldn't otherwise, which is good
2023-06-11 20:57
Best suicidal career in ruzzia
2023-06-11 21:41
Depends on where you're from and your values.
2023-07-12 03:50
I wouldn't like joining the millitary
but I dont care much
2023-07-12 03:59
idk it's a career like any other
Doing it in brazil is only worth it if you go to school to become a CO though, otherwise it's basically gonna involve a salary that cant afford anything and getting treated like shit even if you make it to NCO and there's gonna be no action
2023-07-12 04:13
