Is this good for the organisers tho? I guess their are making a lot of money from partnerships? So if these doesnt exists they might host less tournaments or decrease the quality of their tournaments.
2023-06-09 17:09

in terms of economics, probably not since the partnered teams provide alot of money since they can afford it. Although at the same time, if ESL or Blast as named in this don't comply with what Valve seemingly wants for the esports scene when CS2 comes along, they may get screwed over by losing their tournament license that they've had for years.

2023-06-09 18:37

what you are missing is that these partner teams lose regularly to tier 2 teams because they rarely play them. If the tourney circuit was more open and tier 1 teams got exposed more to the non partnered teams the tier 1 teams would either learn how to play against them or would realize they don't belong in tier 1. for example imagine gamer legion got lots of top 8 finishes in big tournaments before coming to the major. no one would say that they are tier 2 shitters that got lucky. right now teams like that barely even get a chance to qualify to big tournaments.
2023-06-09 20:20
no this is what we want. No partner teams and whoever is best wins just like it is. Idk what you mean people crying, maybe you spend too much time on hltv and reddit?

fluke partner teams like BIG, EG, Astralis, Col, Fnatic Tell me what furia have done in blast? Furia is a top 10 team ish, right? Then why are they not playing in blast when there is 12 spots?
2023-06-09 17:43
You are so delusional. You wanted 4-8 teams to win tournament with only one possible winner. How you cann't understand, that more invites teams gets - bigger chance to make results they have. You are calling Major fluke, but this is actually the only full open event in the game. And this is where teams are facing reality. And reality is that half of partnered teams are just pure trash with paid spots.

Yes, but its harder when trash teams like NIP / BIG have insta-invite. Slots are very limited.
2023-06-09 17:37
yeah but ESL and Blast also insta-invite certain teams aka "partner teams". That's why slots are often limited. Which back then probably wouldn't gotten much air since people get to always see the top teams. But fast forward, it's just a massive nuisance since half of those teams are a shadow of what they originally were and are a waste of a spot.
2023-06-09 17:41

2023-06-09 19:25
there are many closed off tournaments and some tournaments that have qualifier spots have like 2 spots and 10 teams are invited. So at it's best - it's not fair. Thing like blast world finals, I get that's closed because qualifiers are actually previous events. Other sports have those kinds of events, like "masters tournament" where only top X players/teams are invited. But again, in those scenarios it's world ranking that acts as a qualifier so it's not as closed as these circle jerking tournaments in CSGO.

2023-06-09 18:22

they are testing a specific PART of what they want to introduce to the game. MM is not part of that test, not in this iteration. So there's 0 reason to give feedback on it because you are not testing that. It's like eating a pork chop in order to write a review on a tea shop - it just makes no fucking sense. Buy menu is good, old one was worse, cry as much as you want. Only drawback is no use of troll weapons. But that opens up other avenues, if no one equips PP Bizon then maybe Volvo fixes it.

PP Bizon is just a troll weapon, it has nothing going for it. Same damage per shot as MP9 but worse fire rate. P90 is better if you want that drum mag. Spray pattern is terrible for bizon as well, despite the fact that it's much more controllable than MP9 because of the sheer weight of the magazine and the ammo. It's like bad MP5 that's not suppressed and has a worse recoil. All while MP5 is something no one uses over MP7 because MP7 is actually a good gun.

The Major is the tournament that pays most to the teams, the prize pool doesn't matter, it's the sticker money where teams make like 7 figures from it, those values are just not public for us to see, but i'm sure a CS major can pay more than a dota2 international.

2023-06-09 18:04

1. Cuz they asked for a meeting, duh 2. Cuz valve owns the counter strike IP and they can do whatever they want with it. Valve is a private company after all, no?
2023-06-09 18:07
For one, a meeting was made. For two, CS is their IP and thus they can do as they please which includes shit like this. And Valve is also a private company and has more power over them. If they refuse to comply with Valve, Valve is more than happy to screw them over.
