The problem isn't that there are too many academy teams, it's that there is no pipeline to tier 1. Academy teams are tier 3 or 4, meaning when a player gets promoted, Buzz, Altekz, wiz, HexT, Torzsi, JDC, etc. they are skipping a level of development. Sometimes it works, like m0NESY and xertioN, sometimes it doesn't. But lots of orgs with academy teams have no incentive to sell their good prospects to tier 2 orgs, just so they can buy them back for more money in 6-12 months after they've developed more.

I don't really see how it brings down the overall quality of the game tbh.
Mistakes have always happened for almost all players of all experience levels, I don't think age has any significant correlation.
CS has been around so long however, that teams who want to stay relevant have to go for fresh talent. Not only do older players tend to struggle adapting to new metas, their core mechanics also fall off with age. Academies have been a way to train and hone these talents with experienced coaching, meaning they are miles ahead of the old guard when they were their age. Naturally, if you're a serious team, you want to utilize this competence when changes are necessary and the overall quality should rise significantly as a result.

Is this seriously something you believe?
