in the 3 most important games of the champions league, haaland didn't score a goal and was nonexistent. didn't do anything in the fa cup final either, so should he really win because of the premier league and the load of goals he scored against leipzig and in the group stages against the likes of sevilla, copenhagen and dortmund. is it really hard to understand that in a world cup year, champions league plays 2nd fiddle to it? ronaldo nazario won the ballon dor in 2002 while scoring 7 goals for ac milan in 16 games. i don't think it will be robbed for messi specially because he is the second player after jairzinho to score in every single knockout stage in a world cup. my conclusion to this is that people who think messi winning it is robbed are the ones who rate the world cup the same as the champions league in the ballon dor race when it clearly doesn't work like that.

fair enough I aint watching the mighty Ligue 1, but at the same time club wise Messi did nothing but carry PSG to a 1 point league win. Nothing relevant in UCL outside of getting dusted. All you got is a great league run (Haaland just beat the all-time Premier league scoring record lol), and a good WC run with penalty wonderland and international football aint something amazing compared to watching club football.
It will be close I imagine Haaland and Messi are n1 and n2, but I still think Haaland edges him out with the Treble + the amazing run in the EPL.

I think Haaland should get it but it feels great to see Messi haters malding, discrediting the World Cup, discrediting his level in Ligue 1, calling the WC rigged... Keep malding or get over with the fact that World Cup is the most important tournament of a player's career and the most prestigous trophy that exists. But for the Ballon d'or, despite the world cup, I think Haaland should get it because it is given to the best player in the world over the year. Messi was the best in the WC, but at best top5 in domestic leagues and top10 in UCL. Haaland was top1 in the UCL and EPL and unfortunately was not absent in the WC due to his nationality. So I believe he deserves it.
