even the taxes are acceptable if you see what you get in return, like social security, health care etc etc.

We’re better at all of that than Denmark and our taxes are like half lol Same with Norway

But aren't the prices of everything also super high there (and obviously salaries too if you get a job)?

Yeah but you can just take a trip train ride and but cheap groceries once a week Even with the higher prices due to salaries we are better off

Denmark is too tbh. Only beer is fortunately not as outrageously priced, although it’s still very expensive compared to DE

+1 From most expensive to cheapest (discounting alcohol as that's a separate issue): Norway Denmark Sweden Germany Poland
2023-06-26 03:42
not since SEK got fucked lol sweden is cheap af now
2023-06-26 03:04
When it comes tobacco, sugar and alcohol, yes. Food is also cheaper but not that much cheaper. Other than that, when you add up taxes, rent and electricity, the difference isnt that big

On top of that, Norwegian wages are also substantially higher on average.
2023-06-25 22:25
I think Norway is prettier, with its forests and lakes and rivers but not better governed

It's not about people being friendly as much as people just don't talk to strangers much, nor expect to converse with strangers besides convenient small talk. It's a cultural thing

if u wanna work set up social secruity etc before u go, because denmark is so fucking bureaucratic it takes hella long to get set up I've worked with plently of foreigners who had to wait 4+ months to even get paid because first they had to get danish social secruity, then they had to have a danish bank account, the danish banks needed proof of residence in denmark and a formal letter from their boss that yes they are indeed working for me etc etc to prevent money laundering edit: also dont expect ur coworkers or ppl u know to invite u to their home, its not that they dont like u it's just a privacy thing, i think for most danish people we kinda want u to invite urself if thats makes sense also this is 50/50 but a lot of people get annoyed when u try to learn the language because the pronounciation is almost impossible to learn as a foreigners so it's just extra hard to understand + the vast majority of the population speaks english fluently so just stick to english

well at least for me I'd rather have people ask me if they could come to my house instead of me inviting them over, can't really explain why it's just more comfortable that way yellow card is what we refer to as a "social secruity card", I think that's the most crucial, I had a coworker from Hungary one time who was waiting for that card for months, and when we finally got it he had to setup a Danish bank account as well which took ages as well because there was a lot of back and forth with the bank rejecting the information they were given by him about his residence in Denmark; tbf it was a weird situation because our boss gave him a room at our job where he could live, so he didn't have a fixed address but a part of his paycheck was going to "rent", which the bank wouldn't accept or something, eventually it all worked out but it took so long that he was on the verge on just going back to Hungary

idk anything about Spain my friend, all I know is that in Denmark a lot of banks and authorities love "papirnusseri" :) if u come here as a foreigner and want to be a part of the system u need a looot of patience, maybe it's worse in Spain idk

Denmark is easily one of the best countries for this in the world (Except like 3rd world broken countries) but for OECD countries it's very easy (comparatively)

I have a lot of experience with other countries. Family and friends living in other countries, owning apartments in different EU countries etc. And trust me, Denmark is VERY easy compared to a lot of them. No digital solutions etc - some places even completely refuse online payments. It might feel like this in Denmark, but a lot of shit here is very easy. Not saying it couldn't be easier, but ... yeah.

not even that good if u are danish for the most part tbh, i dont get the hype at all, but i think if u could somehow work here as a foreigner and not pay danish tax it would be worth the experience i guess

Depends quite a lot. And since he says it's only 1 year, I'm guessing it's as an exchange student. They usually have a lot of fun, at least the ones I've had a drink with at my studies.

it's funny when I was a teenager I used to hate German tourists coming here because yall literally would only speak German and my German was so shit, but as I got older and learned a little more German through conversations with tourists I've come to love you guys, hearing anecdotes about Germany, getting tips about beers etc etc, it's all good man :)

I really enjoy Scandinavia and it does feel very similar to north Germany! Was always easy to connect to the people for me and everyone was friendly but I can imagine it's annoying when people don't speak English at least ^^ Some Germans are very rough around the edges but in general there is a deep sympathy towards Danes so glad u are having a good time with us now ;) Definitely on the list for the next trip with my gf as she never went there

from my experience most young Germans have no issue speaking English, whereas most Germans age 40+ will only speak German, so yeah that's a little frustrating when you are a teenager working in the service/tourist industry just trying to give guests a good experience and you can just barely communicate with them hahaha I've had some conversations with some elderly Germans about it a few times, and I think the issue is that in Germany you guys mostly dub English movies and TV shows, whereas in Denmark we only dub cartoons, so as a kid watching a movie in English you learn the language way faster, but idk how much u guys still do that But yeah I feel like once u break the language barrier the vast majority of Germans visiting Denmark are very nice, some are a little cranky which is understandable after a 400+ km drive hahaha Might have to go Germany soon myself, I wanna bring back as many Flensburger Gold as possible :) literally the best beer I've ever had, some people have told me u can buy them almost everywhere in Germany not just in Flensburg, but u literally cannot find them anywhere here
2023-06-26 23:14
Most of us are in cph area anyway, also nobody really likes living here but with a few smart moves as a foreigner you end up eith 250/300dkk/hr after taxes easily Nobody really cares about your welfare state and bikes we just making bank more than danes tbh
2023-06-27 00:54
+1 to that For people wanting to come to Europe I always recommend the Mediterranean or major cities, full of international more outgoing people

ye it's decent, imho Sprite is better but for a couple of years (2017-2019 i think) u could only get Sprite without sugar and so people started boycotting Sprite and went all in on Faxe Kondi instead, it's been around for ages tho so it's a part of our cultural mindset Faxe Kondi has always been a big sponsor in Danish football so maybe thats why

1. Its EXPENSIVE to live in copenhagen atm 2. 1 EUR is 7,56~ DKK 3. Everyone who is danish born and is under around 45 years of age knows english fluidly 4. We have a shit ton of pizzarias where foreign people work And lastly, if you live on the country, stay quiet since its where all the eldery people live. If living in the city, then do as you please. Oh, and if you see there is a football match in Parken with Brøndby vs FCK, dont go near. They will beat you up.
