investing in esports nowadays is the same as throwing money in a dumpster fire tbh

the answer to why blast washington was held in someone's barn
2023-07-07 13:19
Still less than in 2021
2023-07-07 13:22
So how much was that Abu Dhabi money?
2023-07-07 13:29

Probably a lot less than the NEOM deal which they had to cancel because of the outcry from the "community". If only the community cared half as much about ESL being sold to the Saudis.

The €18.2M increase in revenue is explained by growth in commercial revenue and the three-year city agreement with Abu Dhabi to host the Premier World Final, covering 2022-24. The Fortnite Champion Series has also contributed to the growth, while sponsorship and media rights “continued to be key contributors of revenue”. Guessing it'd be around 10 million or smth

blast is far from perfect but losing yet another TO will only make ESL lazier and monopolize the scene further

don't mention that to double digit IQ people

Do you know that monopol either is or isnt? There is no such thing as "even bigger monopol"

I didn't say that there is such a thing as a bigger monopol, I said they're monopolizing the market, meaning that they are in the process of establishing a monopoly Besides, it's just a word mate, don't get so hung up on it.

good points, it's a mickey mouse cup but I don't think simply ceasing to exist is good for the scene
2023-07-07 15:43
Esports reached the point where you dont even look for investors/sponsors but patronage.
2023-07-07 15:37
Esports is the new hub for venture capitalists to launder money imo, only reason why they keep going with all these losses

haha it would be beautiful If it were real VCs, unfortunately many of them will be just regular criminals who launder dirty money (probably mostly from unlicensed gambling).

They just sold out like 16 000 arena capacity almost every single time. How they cant profit from tickets that are expensive. Seems like they did massive investments in 2022
