It is fine to take a rest-day or a day where you do only stretches and a bit of walking. Running can be very damaging to your knees if done excessively. I get that now that you've started you probably want to continue without interruption, but just be wary that even the best runners in the world suffer from injuries caused by over-use and fatigue, so it would be wise to take a break every now and then.
