Do you guys think this was the worst send-off for csgo?

I'm happy that Niko finally won cologne after 8 years, but I think this has got to be the worst send-off ever for csgo. Imo, this entire year as a whole has been so underwhelming compared to the previous years. Almost all of the tournaments this year were boring with a few god-tier matches like faze vs ence at iem Dallas 2023, faze vs navi at the Paris Major, etc (I literally can't think of any other memorable matches this year). We also got the 2nd or 3rd worst major ever, which had the worst trophy ever produced, and three of the most important grand finals this year (Katowice, Paris major, and Cologne) were all boring. For some reason, the team that lost in the grand finals just didn't put up a fight at all (I can understand Gamerlegion not putting up a fight, but I'm really upset at Heroic and ENCE for just falling asleep when it mattered). If csgo ended last year with Cologne 2022, it would've been the greatest send-off ever with such a god-tier match between Faze and Navi. 2022 had a better Katowice, a better major, and a better cologne. Congratulations to g2 and most importantly Niko for winning the last big tournament in csgo, but they deserved a better match.

previous years - 1 team dominate all now its more competitive

i mean, this year is basically teams lifegaming and then losing miserably. rarely there are close and intense matchs
2023-08-06 22:57
Teams being worse so anyone can beat them doesnt make it more competitive, just lower level of play
2023-08-06 23:02
worst send off would be Heroic winning

I don't know why you're expecting matches that happen once every 3-4 years to happen every final at least the sendoff was Cologne and not another pisspoor major where we gotta pretend to enjoy watching GamerLegion - Monte in playoffs, one sided finals and an orgless team winning by pure chance
2023-08-06 21:52
Kato final was not boring lol Also besides the final, the rest of Cologne this year was really entertaining.
2023-08-06 21:53
idk heroic vs g2 kato final was pretty good imo. we got 3 close maps and meh ancient

Absolutely not

then Heroic should have won their match

Yes maybe, but that's the thing, cs is imperfect, and sometimes there are variables, for instance, iM said their style meshes very well with Heroics, and they were very familiar with the heroic playstyle, and the same can't be said about Vitality. Sometimes it's about who has a good day / a bad day on the day of the match, and then it's stylistic after that, and sprinkle a little luck, and your thought isn't exactly fully precise.

this is the biggest fallacy in any sports/competition. The best team/players doesn't always win, so the team that wins doesn't automatically become the better team
2023-08-06 22:30

you could use this excuse for every event. If its bo1 sure but bo3 into bo5 the best team wins the event
2023-08-06 22:40
lmao the best team wins in 99% of competitions, CS is an exception
2023-08-06 23:04
your answer is in the text itself, only 2 real exciting matches were from faze, now faze are weaker and produce the only really entertaining matches less often whereas last year they had like a really exciting game once a month, and G2 can't recreate it, they're too dominant in their win, at least faze are nice and let it to go to OT so the show is more interesting :)

this is just a good CS:GO event with good crowd and good teams in the playoffs, I don't know what exactly you're expecting to see 5 classics back to back to back to back to back in the playoffs?

It was fairly good all things considered, maybe I'm bias, but I think it's just missin the true FaZe final typa final, always on the edge of your seat, and nervous af :) and great cs with great plays ofc

i feel like g2 vs vitality could've matched faze vs navi.
2023-08-06 22:43

maybe but I don't think so, I am also bias cause I really like FaZe so no final will match it for me, but idk, FaZe no matter what can make a really good game out of anything, they're somewhat dominant, but at the same time, every game is always close, a comeback is always bound, anyone can make highlight rounds, yknow, what more to ask for, sure g2 is the same in a way, but idk, they just don't feel the same at all imo
2023-08-06 22:50
Ok, I’m not expecting every match in the playoffs to be classics, but I’d at least expect both teams to put up a fight in the grand finals, especially if they’re Heroic and ENCE. Instead, they just fell asleep without putting up a fight at all and allowed g2 to just demolish them.
2023-08-06 22:13
Most of the Ancients played across all of Cologne 2023 were high-tier games IMO. definitely not the worst send-off

I think the map pool is not in a good state. Even worse is how the economy works these days it just prolongs all the maps + it means there are sometimes only about 4-5 meaningful rounds per half. Ontop of that there is only 1 major for some reason. Paris had its issues with seedings, matchups, no real side content, etc didnt feel great. Cologne overall was good, but like hard to compare to a 5 map thriller last year with NaVi v FaZe. Just kinda a step down from 2022 :/ + Doesnt help that its all about last csgo _____ Every tournament when we have 0 news about CS2, but at the same time everyone is all about how are we gonna be like in CS2 and building around the new game. Especially since there is no 2nd major now and Cologne ended on a less hype note where Ence kinda got crushed outside of Anubis where Snappi went crazy.
2023-08-06 21:59
Scene has been shit for a while, too few tournaments and they're almost all banana cup partner league nonsense, it's not just this year They play on studio for a month then have 6 matches in an arena every once in a while, it's just bad and it's gonna keep being bad for a while

Its probably the best send off, there was no clear winner so it was competitive, the greatest rifler ever to touch the game got the win and mvp. Got a solid 700K peak viewers. Only thing that would of made it better was Navi/Vita vs g2 in the final but ence's somewhat of an underdog story made it great to watch. Also the Cologne crowd just hits diffrent. But thats just my opinion

compared to 2021 and 2022 maybe, but its still the second most viewed tournament this year after the major and has 200K more then IEM cologne 2019. check for your self escharts.com/games/csgo

One good thing the last major did was show that the tier 1 teams aren't that much better than the tier 2 teams. Was pretty bad in terms of cs to watch though.

I agree, but the finals ended up being so boring man. The minor and major swiss stage was very fun
2023-08-06 22:48
I agree but it is to be expected. CS2 is on it's way and all the hype is heading in that direction.
2023-08-06 22:46
pro cs is dead since 2020 just look at last three majors

But csgo still will be on Gamers8 and EPL. CS2, even if it release in August, need 1-2 months for preparation for competitive scene

Just because the spanish guy lifegamed we lost the opportunity for bo5 zywoo vs niko... tragedy
