Noone else dares to say it this directly. He even points fingers at the pedophiles, and the establishments unwillingness to do something about it. Had he signed for a record label, you would never hear these words. They would have buried this song. But fortunately, the dude got balls. Turned down a 8 million dollar record deal.

its sorta country ish and catchy, its decent from the sound perspective, but lyrics wise it's just bitching about every day life, he should try living in a third world country and then see how unfair life truly is.

The thing is, he is bitching about all this stuff in a very raw manner. Completely unpolished, and yet it skyrocketed to no. 1 on the billboards, showing that people are tired of self-promoting narcissistic "artists", which are the vast majority. And I say again, just about no one has the balls to point at the elephant in the room, which you didn't comment on at all. It's not about others being rich for their own pleasure. It's about them using their assets to control others. Human trafficking is a gigantic problem, the 2nd most lucrative business in the world. If you aren't addressing such a problem while being in power, you are (IMO) supporting it by not doing a damn thing about it. This naturally leads to lots of suspicion towards those whose lips are sealed, unwilling to talk about it. Human trafficking is not little fly buzzing around, it's a frigging elephant.

majority of people listen to music to get distracted from the bullshit that surrounds you every day, this is the exact opposite and the reason I wouldn't want to hear it again, but that's just me.

I love this because it perfectly exemplifies the faux "authenticity" of the modern right wing. It's completely astroturfed and its success is not organic in any way: twitter.com/TheMagaHulk/status/169112614.. It goes through every grievance and talking point like it's a literal checklist. Behind the "just a guy with a guitar talking about his feelings" is a coordinated media effort to make this popular and extremely careful writing to be palatable to a particular audience. Fits in perfectly with the nonsense of Trump being painted as a "working class populist" and people who own two 70k trucks viewing themselves as oppressed and downtrodden by the liberal coastal elites who subsidize their lifestyle.
