I found this little tomcat at street today. he was shaking but he had enough courage to came to me and jump to my hands. I took him to vet to get him check if he has chip (no chip) and if is ok (he is fine). and now i think i have new friend :) My dogo is bit confused but I hope they become friends.
I am dog owner my whole life, so if you have tips how to raise a cat i will be glad for all advices

raising a cat is like really easy compared to a dog.
give them a place to pee, at fire this might be a blanket just like with a puppy.
dont let it out of the house for the first weeks/months? i dont remember, gotta look that up.
(otherwise he wont come back maybe.)

get a litter box, and litter with no fragrance. Read reviews on amazon and choose the one with good clumping.
Get him dewormed and vaccinated. Feline viruses are very very very fatal, so vaccination to boost immunity is a must.
Get a good dry food as his meal, and you can treat him with wet food sometimes.
Once he turns 1 y.o, hook him up with catnip

Nah I thought there was some reason for not feeding the cats wet food. :) We give our cats 85-100g of wetfood daily. The smaller one is really picky about what he eats.

Litter box + litter is the first thing. Also if you can afford it high quality dry food. Toys, vaccinations and of course plenty of love. Also wouldn't let him out of the house for a while.

Ok, give him 1.5dl of food per day. Three times x 0.5dl. Buy cat toilet and clean every night. Then since he is an indoor cat, if he dont play with your dog you can buy another kitten so he have someone to play with. 1 or 2 cats are the same amount of "job", so no big deal.
Buy little bit of cat candy and a toy and he will be fine =D

1. Get a small house for him on height (Cats love to have their small hideout place)
2. Get a waterfountain (It's in cats nature to drink from running water, Still water = danger)
3. If he is completely new to your home lock him into a room and release him after he explorered that room then do that room to room instead of overwhelming him (Cats spread their scent that way, that's how they'll know it's their territory aka home)
4. Get good food, cheap cat food is awful. My cat changed so much after i bought a little bit more expensive nutritious food (those shit foods have small % meat)

Remember to get them spayed/neutered! Also a scratching post is very important if you don't want your kitty to scratch your furniture. Otherwise, #15 has great advice.

I agree with #32 regarding the food. Don´t buy the cheap food, go for quality from the start. I had to buy cheap food for my first cat because I had little money and it hurt his health, in particular his kidneys (a big risk for castrated male cats).
My next cat lived over 15 years (yes, I´m an adult) with no issues due to food. Tried a lot of quality foods. Now buying "Perfect Fit".
Also watch cat advice videos on youtube about how to "read" the cat etc.
Invite a lot of people over 1-2 at a time, so he can get used to people and be more confident.
very cute, if he is a stray cat and it is possible to do so i recommend not getting any litter box and just let him shit outside and be outside as much as he wants to. Litter boxes are nasty af.
Kitties take a very long time to adapt to you if he is already comfortable with you petting his belly that means he trusts you a lot.

also if you can while he is still young let him play with other kitties (if that is possible) otherwise there's a high likelihood he will try to murder every other cat he sees when he's older around your neighborhood

I have a three year old cat, he's funny but lazy as I could not afford to get him toys and stuff when he was little.
Get the cat a litter box, a cardboard box with blankets work very well for a temporary bed. Get him some *good quality* (cheap foods can hurt the cat in the long run) dry catfood and get him vaccinated dewormed. Get the little guy some toys, there are some toys that work very well as an alternative to furniture for them which they can scratch. That's pretty much all you need for now.
Cats are really easy to raise, you will have a fun time and they don't need a lot of training.
If the cat isn't little trained, look up a youtube video or ask the vet about it. Treat him with wet food once in a while. You can also give him some well cooked chicken and egg sometimes, they like it as well.
Don't let cat outside yet, keep him in the home and let him explore it on his own pace, and oh yeah, get him neutered.

i want you to know that you are a good man. i have a really soft spot for animals after i lost my pet bunny a few years back, i want you to know that there are people who are beyond grateful to you for sheltering an animal.
i want you to know that there is nothing wrong with buying animals either as long as you're going to be providing them a good and happy life. while i do believe in adopting, i don't want you to ever feel bad about buying them.
think of it like this, you could very well be providing them with a better life than someone else would be if it wasn't you who bought the animal.
with that said, thank you, thank you so much for caring about your dog and cats. this world deserves more people like you.

So probably one thing you have to take care of is... cats creature of habit. Once you get them into a routine missing it often would cause them stress or acting out. So keep that in mind.
The fella looks to have taken interest in you and seeing how you got a cat via Cat distribution system is an indicator that you are a nice person. Do well and thrive.

Things to have:-
- Scratchy pole
- Litter trays (one upstairs, one downstairs)
- Cat bed
- Cat toys (plastic straws and cardboard boxes work just as well)
- A collar (if your cat can wear one)
- Inoculations/spayed (otherwise your tom will disappear when in season or smells another female cat)
- Three cat bowls (one for water, one for wet food, one for dry food)
- A cat carrier (for vet visits)
Cats are incredibly routine based animals, so feeding them at the same time every day is essential, they'll get their scent on things that they like and don't let your cat outside for roughly 2-3 months first and foremost, give the kitty some time to get to know their environment and get their scent on everything.

My first cat died from some stomach problem (we had it from people giving them away on the street) she was ok whole time, 1 day she fell asleep and died unfortunatly, i was upset , then 2-3 weeks later i found the same looking cat, so i picked him up

sure. Other than taking care of him medically, the thing that is really different from dogs is that he will likely want you to just leave him alone at peace for most of the day and only be around him when he wants to play/eat/socialise in general. And even tough you don't have to take a cat to a walk if you have a garden or some place where he can safely stay outside then let him out. Just beware of traffic/degenerate humans who would want to poison him (really a tendency, an old wicked witch poisoned 6 of my aunt's cats alone with absolutely no punishment from authorities, altough it was clear as day that she put rat poison/other stuff in meals that she offered those gattos, then just watched them die a horrible death. I sincerely hope she will rot in hell for this). If you don't have such a place then you can still set up something to entertrain him (tunnels and cat houses worked for my cats). You don't want to buy expensive cat toys tho as he will probably have more fun with an empty water bottle or a simple ball than all this stuff that they sell for a lot of money. My female cat really loves empty cardboard boxes, she basically lives in them+ she uses them to sharpen her claws.
One tip for hot summer days: wet his paws multiple times a day, it will probably help him keep his cool.

My wife told me for few days ago that her uncle had a dog that was always active. Then the uncle got married and his wife hate animals so she said that the cat should live outside and dog on the chain. So her uncle did what she told. Last year the cat freezed to death in winter outside and the dog were never on a walk again so for few months ago his back legs stopped moving and he died recently.
Idk what to think but I am so fking angry at my wifes uncle that he let his animals down just because of a fking whore of a wife

-train him to a litter box first
-clean litter box daily, especially if it's an open box; swap litter weekly if you use coarse litter
-give him both kibble and wet food and make sure there's always clean water available (cats also like moving water so letting him drink from the faucet is fine IF your city has consumption-grade water)
-cats need a lot of space, make sure he can run around a lot
-they can also communicate, you just need to associate his different meows with different situations (needs clean water, food or litterbox is full, or even some play time)
-cats hate loud noises
-ABSOLUTELY spay and neuter him - especially tomcats are known to spray their piss all over the place, part of natural instinct to mark territory
-if he sleeps a lot when he's around you - perfectly normal, most cats can only sleep when with company (again, part of natural instinct)
-make sure to research what cats can consume - for example, milk ONLY once in a while and please lactose-free unless you want diarrhea all over your house. for fresh meat, make sure it's preferably raw and ZERO seasoning (some cuts naturally have sodium content)
-also research what plants can poison a cat if you have plants at home
-cats can go on walks, if trained
-cats can also swim - they are actually very good swimmers by nature
-cats have a very high body temperature - their normal temperature is a very bad fever for us. keep this in mind when you wanna give him baths, he won't need a full bath very often (unless he has fleas) but at least wipe down some hard-to-reach spots
-make sure to talk to your cat when he's around - i know it sounds dumb but it can be like therapy to them
