it's less about input lag and more about when the recoil animation begins. Read the reddit post on the global offensive subreddit it does a good job explaining why cs2 spraying feels odd at 64 tick.

yea, it has nothing to do with tickrate of the server sure 128tickrate halves this visually "perceived" input lag, but it's still there it's still in beta and optimizations on client side are bound to happen

I agree but the lag between when your input is recorded and when the spray appears to start can definitely throw you off on 64 tick servers. This is likely what most people (and #1) think is 'input lag' because the shot appears differently from where the hit is registered.

ye that's what I think too tbh the thread maker linked a video somewhere who described exactly what the problem was perfectly but didn't even test for actual input lag like when moving the mouse. I think that's where the real input lag is which is causing that floaty feeling of the crosshair

That's not input lag, that's how long a single tick lasts. And it has nothing to do with CS2, because subtick makes sure that inputs can be registered even faster than 7.4 ms windows that 128tick offers 1/64s = 15.6ms 1/128s = 7.4ms

this is 1 in a million case and 99% of the times 128 tick rate and 7ms response time is perfectly good, and i also don't understand how sub-tick can be accurate when taking ping and movement into consideration. sub-tick is only ideal in a scenario when 2 players are standing still with 0 ping and 1 guy clicks head faster than the other. it's just a scam to let Valve get away with not upgrading servers and save extra money when they could upgrade all servers with the money they make in just 1 week and all of you NPCs with no knowledge of tech just eat it up and think it's some revolutionary tech when it existed before even in FPS games and it wasn't perfect. we'd rather have 128 tick and see exactly what is happening on the screen, rather than 64 tick and dying behind walls and peekers advantage shit and feeling like you're playing on 200 ping.

the problem is not tickrate right now.. forget about tick rate it's either delayed animations or input lag what messes up everything which is mainly the joy.. can't enjoy the game until they fix it... it fact I hate the game currently

7ms is perfectly fine and good enough. nobody asked for the sub-tick. those cases of somebody clicking head faster than less than 7ms is 1 in a million and pretty hard to tell even in slow motion so it makes 0 sense to fvck up the game and make it feel like you're playing on 200 ping against peekers advantage and animation is de-synced to what is actually happening, rather than allow those 1 in a million "who clicked head first" scenarios. and also, subtick only makes sense in a scenario when 2 people with 0 ping stand still and shoot each other in the head. when you add movement and ping into the equation, it makes it hard to calculate what actually happened or display it correctly. Valve is just too greedy to upgrade servers to 128 tick with money they make in just 1 week.

Do you actually know what input lag is? CS2 has an input lag problem (sort of) that is correct and has been proven multiple times now but it is entirely unrelated to ticks because how could it ever be related? How fast the mechanical input is displayed on your monitor is not connected to how fast it is processed by the server/game (tickrates purpose). It has been shown that the games hit registration is pretty accurate while the animation can be off due to their new subtick system and the input lag problem combined with implied latency which makes it feel weird.
