EA sell games designed for console that dont work on PC on pc platforms like steam and origin. For example fifa23 did not work on pc for 2 months after launch because EA new anti cheat was crashing systems and they charged 70$ for a game you could not play for months after launch and refused to refund Also its the scummiest and greediest company to ever exist in history, comparing valve to EA is like comparing valve to austrian-german painter in 1939

To be fair, I don’t even know if that would be good or bad. Valve Anti Cheat is a meme anyway, but the windows store is ridiculously bad, too. We might end up with a good store and decent anti cheat or with a horrible store and a joke of anti cheat system

Honestly, if it happened, fuck it, may be the only chance we'll see more HL As I understand it, they only care to do HL if they have something 'new' and successful, maybe in terms of playstyle or tech which I don't see happening anytime soon.

I don't think it's gonna happen, but Microsoft would very much like to do it. It's pretty clear they want to absorb a huge chunk of the gaming industry. Not gonna be exactly a monopoly though since Tencent exists.
