m2 ssd worth the money?
Europe EgeBamyasi
Is a fast m2 ssd better than a fast traditional ssd? There is 30 euro difference, not that much so I was wondering

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
You can literally check the speeds on the product itself

Ok but I mean if you can feel any difference with lauching games or in rebooting pc etc.

I always used NVMe so I can't help much but apparently they are faster than M2s

M.2 is the port on the motherboard. NVMe is the protocol just like SATA is. Some M.2 SSD's are SATA (slower) and some are NVMe (fast). So NVMe isn't faster than M.2 because you need both.

No, just stick with hdd, cheap and 200tb

m.2 sata ssd's and 2.5" ssd's, depending which one you buy but they all have similar speeds. You won't really see a difference. Go for NVMe, obviously go for Gen 4's if u can even if u don't have Gen 4 mobo you can always upgrade later, if not, go for the fastest Gen 3. example don't buy crucial p2, buy p3, both pcie 3, but p3 is way faster and 15 euro cheaper for some reason. good pricing amazon.

it's all about the read speed, bro. I already had m2 with my current setup, but had it replaced for a faster one and it's really noticeable

The answer to this is literally just asking yourself: "Am I having issues with loading times, and are those issues caused by memory or other components?"

NVMe (m2 SSD) has speeds just as fast as traditional SSDs, at the price of HDDs. There is no reason to not be using NVMe over SSDs or HDDs if you have the space available on your mobo.

If you are using it just for storing games it doesn't matter go for the cheaper option. If you are often reading and writing files you will definitely want the NVME ssd.
2023-09-19 17:25
yes you can tell the difference when installing and transferring data, but can't really feel a difference in game launch ect
2023-09-19 17:32
Yes, it's worth it
2023-09-19 17:32
Yeah, I'm always first to load CS2 maps xD Downloads on steam seem more stable without those issues that it suddenly stops and returns.

You aren't playing games on next gen Consoles, the only way you can realistically utilize the ultra fast speed m.2 has is to move very large files from one drive to another. Daily use and playing games don't benefit from M.2, your game and OS loading speed diff are so miniscule it doesn't even matter. I personally use Sata SSD 256gb (14$) for OS and programs. The rest are on HDD for storing games and important files and M.2 for installed games directory

It's in the context the next big thing for storage. It's insanely fast like IOPS, the seek time is negligible and the bandwidth is very fucking fast. If you do work with large Git repositories for instance it's a killer. This is the new stuff worth your money man. There's the fucking fastest I/O you can get for larger datasets.

Worth it, if it's for windows install. For most of other things it won't make a difference.

If you work with a lot of data that you need to move or read fast is worth it. To play videogames and read hltv, I doubt you'll find a noticeable difference.
2023-09-19 17:47
Yes. M2 is 2-2.5 faster than SATA.
