Well, FaZe won tournaments, but they were also together far longer than C9 has been. FaZe also had higher profile players.

C9 has top 3 ppayer of the last years, top 2 rifler of the last years, top 5 rifler of all time and then fking hobbit and perfecto... Id argue thats higher profile that faze ever had. They just dont seem to be on the same page, or actually not even in the same book rn.... Also i uavent really seen what electronics igling brings to teams. I had high hopes for him when he took over in navi but the teams he led jabe just been lacking Maybe they just need some time, lets see, its a big change for all the players

Olofmeister, GuardiaN and NiKo had all been in the conversation for best player in the world on their previous teams, Rain was a high profile star in his own right, and Karrigan had just built Astralis. Sh1ro and Ax1Le are very good, but HObbit and Perfecto aren't even close to the lvl of profile Rain and Olof were. No disrespect to them, I really like both of them as players, but HObbit is nearly 30, and clearly declining, and Perfecto has never even been a top 20 player.
2023-09-21 19:03
??? Olof #1 2015, guardian #2 2015, Niko #2 2017, Rain #4 2017 and then an actual IGL in karrigan. That faze team had way higher profile.

Surely 2015 ranking is important in 2018.... Like idk i was hyped about this faze team but everypne knew that olof was already declining, Guardian was also at the edge of his peak. But with c9 it feels like sh1ro and ax1le alone are already higher profile because they are still so young and new to the scene but so good already. Also the top 3 of s1mple, zywoo, sh1ro (in whatever order) imo is much stronger than the top players back then were conpared to the rest of the scene

When talking about high profile player yes
2023-09-21 19:47
I think the problem is electronic IGL, he is to dam good to be an IGL

its the secondary caller syndrom , niko fell for it , yeki fell for it and electronic too . Too many secondary callers seem to have this

They weren't like Mouz this year? They won several tier 1 events that year and made a major final.

Lmao what are you smoking They won IEM Sydney,ESL Belo Horizonte,ECS Season 4,EPICENTER. Made it to Major finals,Katowice finals and Cologne semi finals. And in all of those losses they were the favourites. And they were one win away from Grand Slam Season 1 as well. They were better than 2018 MOUZ by mile how the hell they are in the same level of 2023 MOUZ

I don't know what this thread is trying to accomplish, if a few more rounds went FaZe's way that year, they would be viewed as a better team than last year's FaZe (if's and but's yes, but still).

You left out 2017 ESL One New York which is still the most dominant tournament run by a team ever.

I know it,I didnt mentioned it because thread is about 2018 FaZe. They were a unstoppable machine in that tourney, rain and NiKo had like +1.6 rating overall and the average rounds they lost in a map was 5.5.I still dont know how did they do that.
2023-09-21 19:51
they weren't a complete flop, it's just the major and katowice 2018 where flusha owned them, if fnatic doesnt beat faze at katowice i dont think that faze would've fallen apart
2023-09-22 02:58
This c9 roster is still very early and faze won quite a few things. So neither are flops lol

A team can have the best players in the world and if they won 1 tournament over 5 years they'd not be a flop, or at least thats how I interpret your statement, it's about expectations relative to results, and both are in some way, c9 way more than faze tho
2023-09-21 18:44

I feel like you are purposely interpreting my statement as poorly as possible which feels bad faith. But none the less I will explain in case you are being good faith and just missunderstanding me. They were consistently top3 for about 2 years until they made changes. They won several events and even made a major final. They were very very good, people are too focused on the 1 major final loss. They made 13 finals. won 7 trophies. 7 trophies is not a flop by any standards. the major might be the best achievement possible but its still only 1 event. No one would say 2018 cloud9 was better or more accomplished than 2017-18 faze. Yet c9 have more majors

But the thing is there are many variables, firstly, the expectations, for them to be a superteam and the best team at that time firepower wise as of yet perhaps, and they were expected to reign dominance on all the big events, secondly, the final win ratio with that kind of team? Idk And lastly, how many tourneys were around back then, you could easily play some tournament and astralis not attend and win that one fairly easily, with short formats and tournaments flying out your ass way more than now, so 7 trohpies = like 3/4 trophies in 2023 Also the level of tourneys they were winning, they weren't winning no major, cologne, kato big events, they just won the regular, good, but not top top tier tourneys, and that's below par tbh

"the level of tourneys they were winning, they weren't winning no major, cologne, kato big events, they just won the regular, good, but not top top tier tourneys, and that's below par tbh" I only listed the S tier trophies they won on liquipedia. As for how many tournys the fact of the matter is as for 2 year "eras" the only teams that did better are 2017 Sk Gaming 2018-19 Astralis 2012-15 Fnatic 2012 Nip By sheer trophies and dominance they are the 5th best roster of all time. If thats bad idk

? faze 2018 is easily outclassed by navi 2021 and I'd argue current faze, but it's hard to say, but I'd take my hand in current faze 60/40 I'd even argue for VP golden roster Again, for the expectations, they were not up to par. You're arguing for whether they are a good team, I'm arguing for whether they met their expectations, we're on 2 seperate pages here

"this c9 team is the biggest flop of all time No, that goes to "The Colossus", not currently Cloud9.

absolutely not, nobody thought the "colossus" would be nearly as good as the current c9 was hyped up to be, I can agree with a lot of your points but this one is completely false.

But the Colossus actually flopped, though. This C9 is a new roster that has actually won a grand-final qualification match against Team Spirit. Referring to them as "the biggest flop of all-time" is most definitely preemptive, yet potentially plausible, of course. :)

Faze wasn't necessarily a flop since they at least won tournaments and were in the contention as a top team on numerous occasions
2023-09-21 18:47
the difference is that 2018 faze at least had an IGL, unlike the current c9
