The fuck you on about. Typing one command or using app store is 1000000x easier than searching the web for proper website that won't install adware, has recent version and later you have to go through installer. Typing "yay -S firefox" seems like a much easier task.

Imagine falling for adware in 2023
2023-09-22 10:43

Imagine missing the point - there is no way you "fall for adware" in Linux, everything is automated via single command, isn't that much easier and safer? No weird installers, apps and their configs aren't arbitrarily located in 20 different folders. And if you are somehow allergic to CLI there are app stores that will install a Flatpak version for you.

Everything in Linux is overly complicated for absolutely no reason which makes it "hard" to use for the majority of people

This comment is like telling that you haven't ever used Linux without actually stating that. What in your opinion is "overly complicated"? If you pick a DE like Gnome the usage complexity is much lower compared to Windows and more on par with MacOS.

I don't need to convince anyone that is aware of Microsoft selling your data to third party websites, that's what you have agreed to when using Windows and Microsoft products. Those who really care about privacy are using Linux.

They make money. Do you really think they solely live on those win key sales when you can buy those keys for 5€? There is a website named fidelity where you can put in your social security number and see what company owns what shares on your person and how they are using a stock market system with your data to get rich, also what your personal worth is (the number you see on the website x1000 to get your personal worth). Trust me, they know everything about you. It took me 1,5 years to have all my data and name removed from the internet.

Yup, nothing can be found anymore when googling my name. I was working in the Esports Industry, managing Dota Teams and went to TI3 with one of my teams. The only thing where my name is clearly visible is the esports yearbook 2008 and 2009 cause its a hardcover book.

windows 11 has worse performance on csgo (atm) if you do a windows 10 - 11 upgrade. win11 has slightly better performance (than an upgrade) if you do a clean install of windows 11. cs2 or what ever they are going to call it probably needs more time and testing before we know if its going to perform as good as win10 but if you have a good enough computer the performance hit will be minimal but still there. i personally might stay on windows 10 for a while longer maybe another 6-8 months. windows 12 comes out in 2024 btw.

2023-09-21 22:06
Win 10 has one major feature win 11 does not. It's connected to the desktop and files. To delete a file, rename it or whatever you want to do, you have to click right mouse button, then properties or smth like that and then you can do it. Search it up and you'll know what i mean

I think he means that its easier to rename a file on the desktop on w10 compared to w11 W10: right-click that file and click on rename W11: right-click and then select properties and than select the rename icon

you can disable it tho, by using terminal. i disabled it on my w11 laptop and it is similar to my w10 desktop.
2023-09-22 10:37
ah. it's under properties now. that's a bummer. two m1 clicks with a delay for renaming also changed?

just use alt (or ctrl?!!) + f2 for rename

using it for 2 years already actually had a problem with my 390hz screen it would start flickering after 25 mins of use i could only use it at 360hz essentially, same thing on both windows 10 and 11 but after that july fix (windows 11 update) for gaming mice that use 1000hz+/over polling rate it fixed the issue pcgamer.com/julys-windows-11-update-coul.. it killed 2 birds with one stone for me.. cos i have razer deathadder v3 pro with the 4000hz adapter on one pc and razer viper 8000hz on another pc basically no point using latest tech if youre still using outdated software which doesnt support it add in the guy who showcased that windows 11 gets way more frames than w10 in every scenario for cs2, that should cater to 95% of ppl on this forum

There are basically no differences for me except the aesthetics and I think most users will find them very similar.
2023-09-22 08:56
Just upgraded to 11 like a week ago.. Basically have found no difference apart from the visuals, no diff in performance or weird issues. Removing all the bloatware and swapping every setting is always the most annoying part, when 'clean' installing new Windows, and in 11 it was maybe slightly worse experience, since almost every menu is changed but thats about it
2023-09-22 09:41
the only reason why i use win11 is design. otherwise win 10 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> win 11 its painful if you want to play csgo on win11. it takes sooooo long to start csgo. "luckily" it will be over soon

W10 22H2 has one advantage, there will be no more feature updates, only security updates so no more big fuckups after updates W11 is better when you have 12th gen intel or newer, there is better thread director so the CPU is working better dont do upgrades, only fresh installs.. at home im using W11 because of the 12th gen cpu, but at work im assembling around 100 computers for broadcasts per year and we are using only W10 because we need stability and updates are not stable and we are using 10th gen of intel HEDT CPUs
2023-09-22 11:30
are there any big advantages of win11 over win10 atm? everything i use windows for works on win10 for me. for other stuff i use linux anyway. i did prefer win7 over win10 for UI reasons but win11 doesnt seem to be an improvement. so why switch, is there any solid reason right now?

2023-09-22 17:51
I've had Windows 11 for quite some time now and haven't had any problems with it outside of some games crashing earlier but hasn't been an issue for long time. So I don't really see a point of why not just moving to the newer version and that is why I did it. I don't work on PC so maybe for some really advanced stuff its bit different.
2023-09-22 18:24
I had 10 since premiere, same with 11, both didn't make me struggle, they are OK modern systems, and if you want to play Windows games you still don't have other choice. But idk i like Windows overall, it's not as bad as people say.
2023-09-22 20:51
