only teenagers have actual conversations over text, it should be used to settle the date and time when you meet and nothing else, you also give away way too much from yourself in chat which then misses when you meet, could get weird.

The reality is, putting on a persona over text is what most people think is a good strategy, tailoring your texting self to the person you are texting, but in reality, that just screws up the relationship (romantic or platonic) in the long run. It's way better to be your honest self, and if it doesn't work out, it wasn't going to work in the long run anyways. You can only fake a persona for so long.

I guess in the end if you feel like you're "not yourself" over texting then it's the inability to express yourself that is at fault here. Read more books, read more about stuff that interests you, and the words and sentences you're looking for will come naturally.

texting should only be used to set up IRL meetings. its impossible to be particularly interesting over text for more than 5 or 10 texts. also you reveal too much in an uninteresting manner, you are missing the facial and hand expressions, tone, jokes that all could be made in a real meeting.
