Why u don't play VALORANT?
 |
Finland maketsuppi
Okay this might be bit of a longer post so all the TLDR'ers watch out! What are the main reasons you stay away from VALORANT? Any particular reason or something in general is off with the game for you? For me there are several reasons, but none of them is actually hating the game for the sake of hating it lol. First of all - personally - I do appreciate the feeling of realism (to an extent) in a videogame. This might actually have something to do why I also loved Apple's iPhone operating systems up until iOS 6 if anybody remembers. The style of skeuomorphism which refers to realism in digital format is something that I just prefer and appreciate. With VALORANT, the art style is completely opposite with minimalistic and stale 2005-like graphics that just feel like nothing really in a modern title. I guess the janky animations in VAL are also one thing that I do not like where as in CS they are way more natural and realistic. Second thing is that not too often just by adding more abilities and stuff equals to a better game. I'm the one who thinks that being creative with less crap is more rewarding than having a full chaos on a bomb site e.g. or anything like that. And if you really think about it, in VAL you have dashes that are like running boosts or bhop in a way, smoke, fire or poison walls are just a different type of visibility blocks which means the same as smokes in CS, one shot ults to the head that are like accurate deags and so on. They're pretty much the same just with different visuals and implementation. Lastly, nostalgia. Must have something to do with this; I think there's nothing wrong with the idea of VAL, just that for me it doesn't feel anything like CS in the end of the day. I'm blessed that I got to experience the golden era of CS:GO (2015-2017, opinions may vary ofc) but nothing for me personally beats it. I hope with CS2 we will get as epic tournaments too as we've had in the past. Thanks!

i actually love valorant but the game is unplayable in its normal format: you can’t play ranked, even in radiant your teammates don’t know how to use or counter utility and it becomes a clown fest. in cs i always have my own utility and don’t have to break cypher trips or skye dogs

Higher skill floor in Valorant. Everytime you outplay someone, they can counter it with a running dog, flash going through the wall, an ultimate that will literally put you in a cocoon and you can't do anything about it or one of the other 1000 abilities. In CS, when you you outplay someone, they are usually dead. It just feels more fair being in gun fights. Also, the random spray in Valorant feels ass. I appreciate the different agents and their designs though and how they have different personalities.

Imo the skill floor in Val is actually based on your aim, while the ceiling is determined by your usage and knowledge of abilities.
2023-09-21 21:13

I would argue it's both. It's a higher floor and a higher ceiling. The game is infinitely more complex than CS, since you have a lot of agents with different abilities but at the same time, bad players more easily compensate for not having good aim by using abilities, or even putting down a Killjoy turret and sometimes getting kills for free.

But then they aren’t bad players. It’s funny, CS players seem to think abilities are like, bullshit ways to beat “better” players, when maximizing your potential using abilities makes YOU the better player. Yes occasionally bs happens, but that’s no different than “getting CSGO’d”.

lol it goes both ways better players can be considered better because they are simply better at using abilities but there are literally crutch characters/abilities that can make even the worst players have the most impact. The map design being linear doesn't help with this either

I disagree. I don’t think there is a single agent you can crutch on anymore. Chamber was nerfed to hell, and Jett has transitioned from the traditional awper role, to an entry fragger now. Obviously there can be agents you excel at, that you “crutch” on, but I don’t think there is any agent that makes you notably better at the game.

I like both. I don’t really play CS anymore, I just 5 stack with friends on Val. I think the biggest point in Val’s favor is how complex it is. There is always something new to learn, even on agent’s you’ve played a hundred hours on, there’s numerous ways to combine agent abilities into new strategies, or to counter strat with them, etc.

The abilities are low skill, annoying and visually disrupting. Ragdolls feel like they are gliding on ice. The peeking is weird if you have 40+ ping and the opponent 5-10, because it feels like playing on 150 ping in csgo, you barely see the player swinging and you are dead instantly, same with holding corners, you are cleared before you even see the player. I havent played it since 2022
2023-09-21 21:20
because the game has like that kind of spells. I prefer the classic mode like CS. partly because the characters seem made to attract a child audience. Also because I don't think I can play cs and another fps at the same time, I play other games, rpg, adventure, etc, but when I want to play some fps, I mostly play CS

I tried it because CS was getting boring to me but in the end CS still feels better to play imo. Gunplay and movement is better than in Valorant and i don't like how Valorant looks but CS2 is sadly going for a different style now too. What really ruins Valorant for me are the abilitys.

Actually Valorant is catchy and competitive af,smooth and dynamic,CS2 is not CS anymore (atm),i have 5200h in csgo playing since 2016,i used to wake up at 8 am to play till 2pm,and after a break, again to play from 7 pm to 10pm,now i switch to Valorant recently bcs after 1-2 games in cs2 i just get bored to play more. (Before like Valorant i've installed it and unistalled 10 times) Now it's fun to headshot people left and right, and at least it's smooth and reactive.
2023-09-21 21:37
I like the small things of cs which valorant couldn't copy. I like the aim, I like the movement, I like the start menu, I like my capsules, I even like a tutorial map. In cs go, getting a tap is like scoring a swish in basketball. Sure, the game isn't perfect. sure, the beta is rough. But I just like cs more, it feels more human to me.

I played it a little in the first season, gave it a "this ok, not great but ok" rating. Came back a few seasons later and found out it had essentially turned into overwatch with all the abilities and changed the rating to "can't be bothered with this".
2023-09-21 21:46
valo ability gameplay is interesting, more interesting IMO than csgo's 4 nades. the problem with the game is everything else, the gunplay, movement and maps are just a downgraded version of csgo.

I've played Valorant a lot, but CS way more. I had periods where I preferred VALORANT, but currently I'm definitely on the side of CS, and here's a few reasons why: -The spraying / RNG of spray feels really dumb to me. It doesn't even feel like an OPTION to spray. -It isn't a real issue, just a personal one, but having to aim at models that look extremely different (even if the hitbox is the same) is really hard, and throws my aim off. In CS models look different, but not as different as in Valorant. -Some of the maps suck ass, sorry not sorry. -There's a few too many agents right now. I feel like they should've focused on maps and weapons for a while instead of adding new characters. -The movement is a bit too slow for me, and gunplay is less interesting that in CS. -First bullet accuracy's weird. Some of the guns are either ridicilously shit or ridicilously OP as well. Noscoping with an OP is useless and that's kinda ehh but it's not that big of an issue. could go for more but i wanna watch yugioh lol

I'm fine with the artstyle and other Valorant things but the variety of agents and their abilities make the gameplay too complicated for me to comprehend. I haven't played much though maybe I'll change my mind if CS2 turns out bad
2023-09-22 19:33
1. movement and shooting mechanic. too slow + you can't spray but you can't burst either. the delay between bursts to regain accuracy is too big. 2. 3yo map layouts, very, very bad. 3. too casual. (noob-friendly) 4. abilities that are 1 click often win over aim duels. 5. riot artists carrying the game more than devs.

I might have enjoyed it had i never played CS. But there is too much going on for me. Too much to remember, and the maps don't have years of player testing like in CS. The skin system valve has is also vastly superior. Also I felt like i lagged a lot more than CS for the same ping. The rng spray also makes it more of a tap fest, but the furst bullet accuracy is not as good. Mixed with the lag problem the game doesnt feel as good to play. Finally the heat my laptop experienced was a lot worse than playing CS at double the FPS. Its good in its own right, and the target audience is very happy with it.

No spray patterns at all, spraying in CS is a beatiful mechanic you have to learn. Movement is terrible. Art style Is weird. Guns are weird. 80 percent of the community are onlyfans girls or femboys/soyboys. Valorant crowds are boring. Valorant esport Is not existent in czech republic. I don't know one single person in here that plays Valorant. I don't want 20 champions to learn and chaotic abilities, thats nerdy. Valorant is very boring to watch. Many pro plays on the other hand in CSGO are legendary. Valve nowadays communicate with us more than Riot to their community. Also community in CS can create maps, skins. Valorant maps sucks. Graphics sucks, sound system suck, physics sucks, whole Valorant engine sucks. I don't get people that want to move to shitty Valorant in a case CS2 will be shit and not fixed yet. I would either move to CSGO if possible or CS 1.6. Or just play sim racing. Valorant just have 128 tick, rankings and intrusive anti-cheat. Faceit got all that with goated CS
2023-09-22 20:03
i played Valorant a lot, and was immo when i did, but i stopped a while ago ranked and pro play have become way too different, to the point where the ranked experience is so terrible by comparison. Nobody comms, most comps are terrible (3 duelists, no smokes etc.) and people will always overheat/greed for kills and throw rounds, because they care more about stats than winning the strategy around Valorant is why i fell in love with the game, because there is so much nuance, but its become clear that the community cares more about tiktok clips than actually playing the game as intended.

It's more like an inbred haspburgian game. VALO(CS & OW) OW(TF2 & LOL) LOL (DOTA) The trend here is to take a games that have a lot of depth (valve titles) & casualify them, then combine them with another valve title in the near future.
2023-09-22 20:09
I never played it, but I have played OW. That game was the biggest waste of time know to man (Play one hero get countered hard, switch and insta dominate the server). Hero shooters are a terrible concept and I have hated them from day 1. (I tried because my friends played) IMO abilities mostly detract from the skill and fun of a game for me. Why learn how to take proper duels and tempo control when I can W M1 with sage heals. Why learn how to lurk, when to lurk, and how map pressure and rotations work, when I can just teleport around as omen. Why learn proper crosshair placement, when there are character with an XRAY ultimate (I hate ultimates too because it directly hinders more agressive playstyles). Why learn proper util, when I can just play it down on a IPAD as brim or have it go through walls as Skye?

I think OW did it really well (basically pleb version of tf2 without the huge beginner skill curve). The mistake was just adding too many heroes where balancing became impossible. I didn’t feel the hard counter stuff very much tho I guess i was never particularly amazing at the game so i could play whatever i want.

I played a lot of bastion (funny ikr). He was the decent hipfire hitscan character, all the other ones had no recoil spread, so recoil control just felt like pulling straight down (which was very weird to me). But any time I played him players would switch to sigma and ability cycle me until I switched off (this happened like 30 games in a row). I would then switch to Ash and begrudgingly click on heads through a scope.

1. Player base: Almost everyone is so terrified of fighting unless you throw an ult. very few people make trade attempts. very rare for all 5 to do the same things. If you dont go all 5 down 1 lane, they think your griefing. 2. Too lazy to learn/play meta characters: I just wanna play the simple ones (Phoenix, Chamber, etc.) but they are very low value. A good KJ is untouchable, but looks lame/boring to play 3. I think its more toxic/childish than CS: Way more FF attempts 3 rounds in, getting screamed at and griefed after 1 bad round. 4. esports is unwatchable: way too much shit happening on screen.

- Negative things: - I can't keep up with so many updates: not only the new agents and maps, but the constant change of old agents' habilities that suddently make them unplayable in certain maps. - In other words, having to re-learn the game if I spent more than 2 weeks away: abilities keyboard configuration, new maps, new agents, movement dynamics, abilities cooldown, damage, use, etc. - Also, if the agents I was good in a certain map were picked, I felt lost and overwhelmed during the defense half, especially when rushed by 4-5 enemies. And then I felt bad for being a dead weight to my team. - Spending in cosmetics and season pass feels like a waste of money when u stop playing. - Some maps look lazy done and predictable. - Many agents/abilities are repetitive. - The "rush X site in the first 15 seconds" meta is boring and predictable. - People doesn't know how to play after 30 seconds of round. - Knowing the exact damage dealt when dying. - Small customization. + Positive: + Less tryhard people than in CSGO. + Shorter rounds and matches. + Cool skins and cosmetics. + Fracture map spawn idea is cool and different. + Economy is not so punishing when defending.
