the game was in the work for more than 5 years and even got delayed when it was supposed to be released.
the company is just dumb and made a game for like +2 years and then they just dumped this game and started another, thats why this game was so bad when released and even got like a 20gb patch on day 1

There were obvious reasons and wrongdoings that they didn't meet the deadline. I wouldn't call the company dumb tho. Business took bad decisions over the supported devices and technology they were working in. They decided to create their own engine instead of using existing technologies that ended with shortage of workforce before the release. Supporting old consoles generation limited the newer tools they could use. If they skipped the old consoles gen and chose UE at the beginning I'm more than sure they would deliver a good product.

I knew some people inside and after the first announcement they were freaking out on how delusional was the ceo and how wrong was the release date if they wanted to include all those things.
This being said, I'm glad he was delusional and believed in the idea and kept pushing even when the game got a "fail" release, with this 2.0 the game it's close to what they promised and looks amazing

I played it on launch and I am playing it now. The police rework is nice and the skilltrees are different too. Apart from that, the game was and still is very nice to play. The addition of path tracing and now DLSS 3.5 have made the game even more beautiful.
Sure, there were some small bugs on PC version such as cars randomly spawning in when something is in the way, causing them to explode, but nothing gamebreaking at the time.

do you even use path tracing? i tried and it does make the game look a bit better, but I prefer stable 80 fps with no RT, than 30 fps with path tracing

for sure, fps >> a bit more image quality, but I have the luxury of enjoying both.
I agree that even DLSS 3.5 (or at least how it's implemented now) is not really of any use to most players, but I think in the future they will make sure that the ray reconstruction is also applied to the "normal" raytracing. For now, using ray reconstruction, reflections on highly reflective surfaces are super sharp and without noise, which is very beautiful.
biggest issue during release were for playstation players.
they had to wait 1 hour to load in vs 5 minutes on PC.
I feel bad for people who bought it on console at launch lmao.

The game was already nice, pretty good with mods and stuff. I haven't tried 2.0 but every streamer I've checked out have said that the game feels much better. The game is great just because of the story, the world feels a bit meh to be honest, not much to interact with. I would only purchase It if you actually enjoy a good story, this is not a RDR2 in terms of the world feeling alive, many unexpected situations etc etc.
It's much better now with the 2.0
Path tracing with the new ray rework is amazing and gives you +20-30fps which is mental in the sense it's looking way way better and without dlss artifacts on reflections and metal shaders.
More than visual they added a lot of new things that makes the game more enjoyable, like cars handling seems much better now, even they didn't state that on the notes, but the whole physics looks different and better, police works similar to GTA now which is way better, you can shot from cars, new skill tree, you have the chrome limited depending on how much you can handle, money is easier to get because they pay you more for selling and everything, guns have stats easier to read, you can buy cars without needing to go to the other side of the map...

wait do you get more performance? My performance decreases. I was playing on 1440p with DLAA and now on 4K with DLSS 3.5 quality I get a bit less fps

I've got 90 fps before and 120 now with all ultra/demential, path tracing and dlss3.5 with ray reconstruction and 1080p. Plus this ray reconstruction needs like 1gb less of vram, which is cool.
Btw, I'm pretty sure that I used to have less fps with dlaa than dlss 3, probably because frame gen is not allowed on dlaa if I'm not wrong.

DLAA and frame gen do go together, could it be due to 1080p, where you now have less cpu bottlenecking than before? Or did you play native 1080p before this update?
The reflections on the glass and stuff is so good though with ray recon :DD

mm...you're right about DLAA and FG, but having the same options as I had before (Ultra/demential + DLSS Quality + FG+ Path Tracing) and enabling that Ray reconstruction I get a boost on FPS around 20-30fps depending on the place, don't think is because bottleneck because is what nvidia was advising before the release.

Yes, reflection are fixed now and everything looks much much better. I see some ghosting now in some edges if you move fast, but I can live with that compared to how good the game is now. Probably because without all the DLSS+FG+RR it has a base of barely 20-30fps so they need to figure out too much frames xD

Huh I see, I guess 4K + DLSS quality is more demanding than 1440p + DLAA then. Pretty cool that they manage to make raytracing even better (for the most part) and give it a performance boost at the same time. That ghosting could very well be due to what you are saying xd. At least it is very playable at 60+ fps

Yes. The game is great. And the upcoming expansion will make it even better. Only NPCs dislike the game based on what they read instead of actually playing it for themselves. It is not the greatest game of all time but it is a good game, better than 90% of the garbage coming out nowadays.
Yes, at release it was bugg ridden and a very bad game, but over time it became a solid and enjoyable game.
it's easily 1 of the nicer to play RPG's out there in it's genre, but it did indeed take a few years for them to fix their stuff.

I'd recommend it even before the update since i always thought it was a really good game even during release it was pretty good, just expectations were massive imo which lead to all the hate (mostly deserved) but it just needed to be polished which it did and is finally getting the love this game deserves.
Also, $30 is a good price for a big dlc with all the updates and shit considering its a modern AAA game. Im sure they could've set the price to $40-50 and people would still be happy but they didnt so its a big W for CDRed imo.

True for a lot of companies and their games, not true for Cyberpunk in particular. It was simply too big of a project for fairly inexperienced devs. It wasn't greed. It wasn't anti-consumerism. It wasn't a minimum-viable product, game is filled with content and effort. It was strictly single-player, no online connection required. No microtransactions, battle passes and all that. No Denuvo since day 1. Huge respect for that.

I played it about a year ago, after a lot of stuff got fixed, and it's hella good game. So definitely recommend you to try it out

World feels pretty lifeless in my opinion. There's really not that much to do in the world apart from missions. It's a 7/10 game before the patch, maybe 7.5 now after the patch.

City feels more alive now, it's true that's not a San Andreas game, but police has some brain now, they can chase you and you can see them chasing other chums, other npcs have more animations and you can find them watching the sunrise together for example, you can break things with cool physics, car breaks apart, you can shot tires, when you're in combat the other guys lose parts of their body easily now... it's not like you can go to the gym or do other activities but the city feels a bit more grounded now.
that's any open world rpg. they can either make the world small and spend more time making each location have a purpose/activity/npc with unique dialogue or they can make the world big and it's stuff you can't interact with or copy/pasted npcs.
the only way this will get fixed in the future is when NPC's are dialed into chat-gpt like technology and can respond to whatever you say and it becomes much easier and faster for developers to build a city so that they can spend more time focusing on crafting individual locations you can interact with.

What I mean is the atmosphere and interactions with the npcs in the world are next to non existent. Compare it to a game like Red Dead 2 or Elden Ring and you start to see the problems.
It was already good when it launched, now almost at the state it was supposed to be, I'm guessing Phantom Liberty will push it to being exceptional (if it's good, of course). Easily one of the best RPGs on the market.
The storytelling, characters, dialogue and even the city are incredibly immersive, almost like cinematography. It blows Starfield completely out of the water, like I cannot fucking look at their Starege faces with monotone delivery of a boring ass dialogue after replaying CBP. Gameplay is also way more fluid and interesting, soundtrack is great, just such a superior game, but a huge shame how its launch went... it could have been remembered as the second Witcher 3.
CDPR probably learned a lot from this, which gives hope for their next games. They're one of the few good AAA devs remaining.
the game was good when it released. the only people who were mad were idiots who thought they were getting a futuristic GTA instead of a futuristic Witcher 3, or idiots on console who didn't have the hardware capable of playing the game.
It's a junk food game, so long as you temper your expectations you'll be fine.
The game is fun, the gameplay is simple yet satisfying, the little crafting system is entertaining.
Don't mind the story, is super silly, but let yourself be absorbed in the world, the graphics are still absolute Number 1 , no other game is even close to Cyberpunk 2077 graphically, there really is no comparison.
