oh i understand why you're confused. for context when op made this post we had the exact same team here, looks like he switched his lineup, I didn't. me saying "no way" was in reference to us having the same lineup

ahhh that makes sense. I thought #1 meant to say "no way your/OPs team is top1%, my team is top1%" while having blameF and dev1ce who both got eliminated in the first round, hence me saying "this didn't age well" after they lost. hltv should start freezing those team people link it's so confusing :D

I also believed Astralis for a moment but I realized that while they have a big upset potential they can also lose to EF, BIG, NAVI and Vitality. Nonetheless, I want at least 3 players on the finals for that 1.5x boost. VP can win against ENCE (as they have done in recent times) so I had to go with at least 1 VP for that 50/50 match against ENCE. I'm still struggling with b0rup as I might change for dexter (2 easy wins for fnatic) and maybe get someone better in the place of mir.

im not so inclined to pick the favorites because they will earn me nothing for 2 rounds i will think about it but i dont know, im preferring budget on the favorites since they will win me 12 points guaranteed instead of losing and betting on vp/astralis to farm their opposition and might be able to upset navi/ence (ence is more difficult) i know its risky and might do safer cuz im good on leaderboard but my gut is telling me this, same as EF (and i didnt trust it, unfortunately)

wdym they won't win anything for 2 rounds? I know it hurts to pick a expensive player and not have them playing 2 rounds but what good it does to pick a quarter-final runner if they will presumably lose to the favorites? Example: why pick norbert instead of apex if Vitality will most likely to reach the finals while VP have two tough opponents to reach the final BO5 1.5x boost? unless a upset happens, it's not a smart move. Don't get me wrong, your move is smart if you're not aiming for the 25 points, you may be able to get 10 or 12 points with this tactic, it's a safe call, but I'm certain the top 1% placements will have at least 2 players in the final

thats why i put blamef and device there, to show to choose 2 players to farm and have upset potential and 3 budget on the favorites, notice that i left aleksi even tho hes a good budget apex, hooxi, snappi will give 12 points each instead of gambling on b0rup, staehr, nobert because they are more likely to not pass the 12 points threshold edit: like you said zywoo, spinx, m0nesy, niko, the favorites, can go nuts on the finals but then again, i feel like those 2 rounds are important, im torn tbh

If you think Astralis can reach the finals, go for it. I also believe they can but I also believe some of the teams they face on the way also have a upset potential against them, specially EF and NAVI. I've done bad for the 2 recent groups, so don't follow my call.

Yes, it's optimal - Vitality are likely to win the entire thing, VP have the easiest bracket till ENCE and there's a reasonable chance for them to beat ENCE, which means if they do, they will get to the finals without clashing with your other 2 players till then. Karrigan is a good pick, because he's not starting in Round 1, therefore he will not bring any negative points in the beginning, if he underperforms as his price says. So yeah, that's a really good team from pure math stand of view.

max -15 by end of tournament without taking into account how badly he does individually against VP. His price is tempting but its gonna hurt. I also had b0rUP but just changed to HooXi as they both perform equally poorly, however, gigachad gets a +12 starting point.
