I just know you get a more stable frametime when using Afterburner/Rivatuner or Nvidia control panel, then you get less stuttering. But it's a tradeoff, you want as many FPS as possible to get as low input lag as possible but you also want it stable to get less stuttering which you get by setting a max fps, I set mine to be around my lowest FPS i can get.

There are multiple videos on Youtube if you want I can find one... I have tried capping FPS in-game, in Rivatuner and Nvidia control panel and what works the best is Rivatuner but CS:GO don't allow this without using allow_third_party parameter, so the next best thing is to use Nvidia control panel which is far better than the in-game fps_max command. It does work.

yeah - but I am not sure it matters if you cap it below 400 which is fps_max default Just test it out and see, it's about optimizing to get the best Frametime which in my case eliminated some annoying micro stutters. It probably depends a lot on the hardware but if you feel it's not running smooth definitely try it out.

Do you use Nvidia? What is your monitor refresh rate set to? If you have 144hz then try in Nvidia>Manage 3D settings>Max Frame Rate to set it to like 300fps and see how that feels, then your graphics card can breathe and save 100-200 frames which then somehow aligns with the CPU and makes it smoother, I believe that's what's happening. youtube.com/watch?v=tZHHhTt_fww&t=378s Maybe look into the new Presentmon app: game.intel.com/story/intel-presentmon/

Capping the fps through external apps will increase input lag ofc vsync naturally increases the input lag too If possible it is always better to cap the fps directly through the same app, unless app has some weird fps cap numbers or issues with this working properly but that doesnt apply to cs. Best would be to ofc leave it uncapped with Vsync off but its understandable some people dont want to overheat or overexploit their PC when its not needed (like having 600 fps even tho 300 is more than enough etc)

I tested the frametime and got almost 100% stable when using RTSS where as it spiked a lot by setting it in-game. If what you say is true then that's a tradeoff one must decide.

Idk how to respond to this because this insult clearly shows you are in puberty and I am an old ass man and I could care less. I just wanted to joke but clearly you are pretty deep into the grind and lost your emotions. So to answer your question: max_fps 0 if your system can provide stable fps above 360 if not settle for something lower for consistency like fps_max 200 / 100 / whatever.

Yeah, I've noticed that that as well and did exactly like you. With CSGO's internal frame limiter I get microstuttering all the time.

I feel no difference to uncapped on a 240 hz monitor. made a blind test with help of a friend. plus my pc fans are on lower rpm. rip to zero effort/ non caring people.

i just put 500 because anything above that i wont notice and i heard putting it too high can cause issues, i usually sit at 350-400 anyway so it rarely makes a difference
