That's one way to say you are greedy yourself, and expect everyone else to be like you.
Money is a tool, not a goal. And I am confident he isn't about to be broke. He is not into bling bling and stuff like that, so likely saves money a hell of a lot better than average joe.
He can afford be picky, I don't doubt that a second.
He might simply miss his family, whom he probably hasn't seen as much as he did when working in a danish office. Kid(s?) about ripe to start or already started school. A time where he gets a ton of input from the outside, and needs his father more than in kindergarten.

It's called living your life with those you care most about.
And I imagine he has more friends than Vitality employees. He is an easy going, friendly guy.
And he is also has a family. If you are still young, you are still in the breakaway from family mindset. He is way over that hill, and most likely prioritizes his family a lot higher than his career.

As someone suggest, it could be Heroic calling, or even Astralis (they got rid of the fake ass deadbeat sports director, so I bet it's a lot more appealing to coach them. Than when Kasper Hvidt was around.
I think you underestimate how much people get back to being family people when they hit their thirties or there about. A much bigger change than reaching your twenties, which is more an external thing than an internal.

I don't see how it was selfish. Being a coach it's his job, he was called in to win trophies with Vitality and he made a reasonable decision, see that dupreeh has recently become a father as well and his priorities are different right now. I still believe that dupreeh can compete at the highest level, i don't doubt that but zonic made his choice. And that's not bad.

After all its all business and there is NO WAY any org wouldnt have dropped dupreeh (30yo, usually its joever around this age) for a 10 year younger promising prodigy for FREE.

I did not say he was a paycheck stealer. Of course I was exaggerating, my bad.
Other than his good showings at his last events with them, he was not averaging for a long time the level required for Vitality to be #1 team in the world, or they (Zonic and/or whoever else took the decision) didn't see him good enough to last a few years from now on, going to CS2. + flameZ was basically free.
When I say "it's not a charity", I could also say that is not (in the major part) a family. You don't keep someone because you spent good times with him. But you want the structure to be successful. You ask yourself the question "can I achieve the most with this element and that one". Thus the bench. Sad for him, but it was in a sense kind of expected.
My point being: why "eff the old man"?
It is a business, a tough one since a team like Vitality seeks for excellence.
I think even dupreeh does not feel so bad, like it's a family story gone bad: just your employer finding someone better.

He probably wants to retire. He's won everything there is to win and is the undisputed GOAT coach. He's stated in the past how his coaching work affects his family, so my guess is that he's probably done a Robban: had a break when he didn't go to Gamers8 and went "Wait I actually want to spend time with my family" and decided not to renew.

Having a coach to support you at a tournament is like 5% of the equation man, everything that happens before the tournament is what matters

Sphinx did indeed improve the team, no doubt about that
They didn't perform because apEX made braindead calls ( Emotionally unstable calls ), once he started to actually acting like a s-tier igl, they popped off
Literally the only reason they won before the merger was because of ZywOo hard carrying the team, nobody on the team performed, don't give apEX credit for ZywOo, at that point he could have carried any tier 2 team to finals
Anyone acting like they couldn't replace apEX with any other semi good fragging IGL and still be top 1 is delusional
sad, would have been cool to see him win majors in CS2 too
imagine if zonic and dupreeh goes to Heroic
