He’s legendary as a player yes but hes hella gassed for no reason
Why does everyone claim hes so good at every game when almost any fps player from CS can do the exact same thing if not better lol
Everything he also says makes him try to sound different and because of the name “Shroud” everyone just says its true xD
stop making stupid people famous, the fact that u created a thread on shroud is enough for him to get into discission .stop discussing abt shroud and he will fadeaway just like a nobody
Shroud in his peak, would have been an average EU starter in tier 1 yes. His numbers from 2015-2016 are comparable to players such as current (meaning the 2023 season) Dycha, FlameZ, rain, HObbit, etc. So he would be like, a 3rd/4th player on tier 1 playoff-ish teams in EU.
average EU starter coundt make NA relevant, example Yekindar, but Shroud and his team was relevant in the scene back in the day, yes he isnt legendary, but you could consider him a local legend
He was pretty mediocre in a very weak era of CS tbh.
1.00 rating against top 20 all time.
1.04 against top 30
He just farmed dogshit NA teams and had pop off tournaments every once in awhile. He wasn't bad but his lack of commitment stopped him from being an actually good player. He's not even a top 20 NA player ever tbh. oSee is objectively a better player than Shroud ever was.
You think 2015/16 was a weak era of CS? Major winning Fnatic, French Envy, the Golden Five, HiKo Liquid, the OG Ninjas, Titan, Rain Kinguin/G2, LG, hell, even the original version of Astralis was together, just not on the org yet.
Hiko Liquid -> the team that didn't win anything lmfao. The fact is shroud farmed NA but against actually good opponents him + the team struggled. It's no surprise NA actually started winning some things when new blood was given a chance (stewie, tarik, naf, brehze, etc.)
I mean, but that's true for literally everyone. I guess that means a good rifler in this era, say... HuNter, is like... a legend in 2015 to you? Just bc the game has developed in the last 7 years?
I agree with #11 on his argument about shroud "farming" and lack of commitment, since... comeon:
hltv.org/stats/players/8349/shroud?start..
The fact that a few months before shrouds retirement he had one of his best performances (even though autimatic and stewiie were better) ever, and at what? the age of 22? retiring less than 2 years later? just bad.
But... "tier 1 pros are doing a harder circuit[...]" That'll never be true lol
It's like saying kareem, magic, wilt or larry bird aren't as good just because they played at a different time than MJ or Lebron.
They were the best of their time, and should be seen as standards. Doesnt matter the year. If shroud did good in 2016, then he's good. If he did bad, then he's bad. Simple as that.
Shroud was on c9 from 2014 - 2017. They won a singular tournament. He posted a 1.00 rating against top 20 teams. If you think he would somehow do better in today's scene you're delusional.
There were great teams in 2015/16 but the level of competition is way higher now. He objectively was an extremely mediocre player in an era where your skills could still carry you and the meta wasn't as defined.
He was decent quality player, but surely not a legend.
When Internet started to be key factor of people living (around 2016-17-18) he decided to make a move ; marketing, streaming etc.
He was part of generation where LAN was everything, and FaceIT / ESEA were considered as nothing.
He definitely was one of the best prospects NA had, which is not that great if we compare it to EU, and could be considered as NA legend, but most of his hype was due C9 days highlights and him leaving to focus on full streaming, which was rather a smart and genuinely mature move.
PUBG was one of the key parts that brought him success I guess, he was quite good at it in the early days. I personally can't enjoy his streams. I'm not into hype or screamy persons, but he was way too bland
Shroud has never been really good at any game. He is usually decent at games when they start getting big. Then normally he stops playing them and gets forgotten.
Regarding NA prospects by far the biggest one was swag.
Not biggest in popularity but I also think that Leaf going to Valorant was a huge hit to the NA scene
he was super young, had a good work ethic, was under a good coach, was a smart player, and was mechanically gifted
Him and Xeppaa should've been the future of the scene imo
+1 He acts like he's one of the best players NA has ever produced when he isn't even in the top five. Remember when s1mple played val and war zone and dumpstered people but didn't make a big deal about it? It's because in comparison it isn't that hard. Shroud always leaves a sour taste in my mouth and his fans are even worse.
"He’s legendary as a player" - he's what?
for 3 years he didn't win anything, he wasnt even close to top20.
He was reddit star just because he had 10k + viewers on every single stream and people were clipping everything.
