CS2 - too early
Poland Infinite8
Although I am only playing CS2 for like a month now and I don't really want to go back to cs go (I accept CS2's flaws for now), I understand that many players prefer cs go a lot still and it would be stupid for volvo to just turn it off and force people to play CS2 only, since this game has a lot of issues (the biggest one is lag compensation/dying behind walls etc) Also, a lot of people have trash PC's that cannot handle CS2 well enough. As volvo, I'd be afraid that a lot of players will be so disappointed after being forced to play CS2 that they will leave after few days resulting in a big loss of playercount of the game until volvo really fixes CS2 and until people notice the game is playable again. risky move, gaben, risky move.

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
I don't think majority will just leave and will result in a player count loss, but it's just not a good enough game compared to csgo atm, that's all.

That is not how it works when a game gets updated. It's not a separate game.

that's not the point, some players leaving is still a drop in the ocean.
2023-09-27 14:16
They'll have to keep them separate because there's major LAN tournaments going on at the moment, so CSGO will have to be kept in some sort of beta patch or roll back of some sort.

Bruh no one cares about season 4000 of pro league at this point, it's just another tournament in an endless circuit There will never be a good time to launch, even if they launch on the player break the players will have to learn the new game instead of actually having a break from playing

Every time will be a bad time to update, and Valve notoriously have never pushed out updates with tournaments in mind, they literally do not care. This is just the first time that possibly there won't be another revision to go to for the current tournament
2023-09-27 18:53

Yeah of course, Valve do push out updates at silly times, but there's always a branch to revert back to, especially for tournaments. The rest of the tournament isn't going to be played on CS2 that's blatantly obvious and if you think it will you're very foolish.

Nothing is out of the picture, valve pushed the r8 update as a serious update too, despite everyone knowing it is so stupidly broken it would have instantly break the entire game if it stayed that way.

They often do this for updates during a tournament. The last build is put in a branch with its version.

i imagine you will still be able to play CSGO similar to how you can play really old versions of CSGO currently, through downloading "beta" depots, just not online
2023-09-27 19:13
Too early only when viewed in short term. Better bite the bullet and get it out, when it's mostly ready. Because it was always going to take more and more updates and tweaks to make it perfect.

finally someone who thinks like me, honestly I didn't see anything special in this graphic, it looks very cartoony and plasticized, I really liked the gray and gloomy graphics of cs:go, it was one of the things that never bothered me since its launch in 2012, I like simplicity, for me cs:go's graphics are more than enough, cs shouldn't even be a game focused on graphics, cs2 is just useless marketing to try steal Valorant playerbase

low settings in CS2 is very weird, in CS:GO i can play even in 800X600, but in CS2 800X600/low settings, it's like playing Doom II Online.

Stop comparing CSGO with CS2. CSGO didnt try to replace CS 1.6 nor Source and wasnt even the main game in competitive scene. It was just another new CS game so it had all the time in the world to get better. CS2 will replace CSGO and in few months will be in competitive scene as the new game to play.

always 200fps with high settings, you play on an empty map or something? i have 6700xt and 3600 (1280x960) all low settings except texture at max and high anti aliasing, even on a 5v5 premier mode it would drop to 140-150 FPS depending on the map

I mean, come on. It's 2023 game, and he has 60 fps. How many new games give you this nowadays? You either have to buy 3080 to even think about playing, or not to play at all. Upgrading PC can be the best solution, you can use it not only for gaming, but for work and educating purposes

How do you use a 3080 for educational purposes when a few years old 200$ card (now like 50 propably) also lets u run a pc, or even better a cpu with built in graphic chip lmao. Also csgo was a game populat amongst a huge playerbase around the world, a lot of those players can barely afford to spend money on low end pcs, now they cant play cs competetively anymore
2023-09-27 18:24

Well, game is 11 years old, if you want to be eligible - buy new hardware. Some programs require good cards, if we are talking about game development, Unity, UE5, etc
2023-09-27 18:43

Yeah but cs2 is a competetive shooter that requires high performance and not some AAA title. Imo valve put their main focus on the wrong things, cs players at a high level dont give a fuck about some shimmering water and a nice looking wall, they want crisp mechanics, good and stable performance, consistency etc etc
2023-09-27 18:56
14 replies
When I played CS;GO in the past, I very often had like 30 fps. So reading that 60 fps is 'too low' is just funny to me. Moreover, Valve will fix performance issues in the future, they already fixed water part. It's not that these performance issues are going to stay in the future. Valve for sure knows that many players are playing from calculators from 2000s (They have detailed stats about each players hardware). They can't allow gamblers leave the game, so they will think of something. Of course, most of the competitive players care about performance, but looks are also important.

actually it makes a bigger difference for the average cs player since they arent using util, timing, good positioning to get kills theyre just running it down going for 50/50 fights and trying to outaim

But they dont know how to properly peek and counterstrafe anyways and most importantly they wont realise why they died. So maybe it makes a big difference for the worse player but at least they dont really feel it directly. Tldr its ass for everyone but imo it kills the fun more for better players

a 3080 does not matter for cs2, you need a newer CPU and any decent GPU and thats good enough for very high fps
2023-09-27 19:11
If your friend can't maintain a stable 60FPS on CS2 then he probably can't maintain a stable FPS on other modern titles. I get 600+FPS on CS:GO and around 380 on CS2 (Not trying to brag) FPS does take a hit but don't expect game developers to release new games that run 150+FPS on hardware 10 years old. It's your friends choice to upgrade his parts and complaining about the game being unplayable is his own choice for not doing so.

There is hope that they implement FSR 3.0, the picture is way better than 1.0 currently in the game and it may become a viable option. And they also should improve NVIDIA Reflex to compensate the latency

3.0 version compared to 1.0 improves performance in any way? Because if it just improves the picture it will do nothing for me, with everything on low and with FSR actived I have average 20FPS on CS2.

Oh that's rough, if even FSR on low res doesn't increase FPS then it's time for a new processor. FSR 3.0 or even 2.0 will likely decrease FPS slightly but the picture is way clearer

Tbf it's already good enough for most players (below LE which is 90%) and that's what makes up the player base. For more skilled players which notice more problems, fixes will come with the release and in the next months which is ok. Additional pressure will be created by pros which are forced to play officials in CS2 now

Lets be honest, CSGO went on for years when the player count was nowhere near what it is now while still being inflated by afkers collecting cases. They're taking CSGO and don't give af who complains about it. Play CS2, Dont, they dont care either way.
2023-09-27 14:26
they 100% should not force cs2 on people. just like in the cs1.6-source and even 1.6/source to csgo you had people come and go when they wanted. it wasnt a forced norm. although now there is a massive infrastructure built up around csgo that valve want to plant cs2 straight into. i feel its a bad idea to force it on everyone

This "bad pc" argument is so dumb. While I understand it's helpful to make your game more accessible, you cannot expect devs to give a shit about people who have decade old toasters. Gaming isn't a god given right, if you can't afford to have a PC to play new releases, that's on you.

If people have 20 years old PCs unable to run CS2 in a decent frame rate then it is about time those people upgrade the PC. It is time to move on and not let the history to drag down the evolution. It is just logical that new improved things need more horsepower, otherwise we would be still playing CS1.6 with crappy tickrate and low texture quality

totally agree my pc isnt great but i play csgo fine. cant even open cs2 and join a server. this will only split up all the players and thousands wont be playing cs2. I think csgo will be like cs 1.6 and cs2 will be like condition zero or counterstrike source

It's way too early, but I've given up on companies that I used to love and respect like Valve and Blizzard to make good decisions. I will learn to love this version of cs like I learned to love CS:GO even though 1.6 will always be the best version for me personally.
