doesnt have to be new, it should've just been a direct source 2 port. they just added some noob friendly spice into it thats all, but other than that the game is beyond broken so it doesnt even work as good as csgo

csgo was made on an old as shit engine full of spaghetti code if they want to continue to develop the game it makes sense to switch to source 2 edit: sorry not a great explanation basically it makes sense to start a new project on the new engine. It will start similar to csgo but will become its own game over time

There was nothing to develop in CSGO anymore the game had reached the perfect status in gameplay, needed just a better MM experience and maybe more frequent map changes. CS2 came along, they did give us a leaderboard with points, but thats about it, but they did make the gameplay worse.

Even if they would change nothing about the code, the code will age over time and run worse and worse on newer hardware. And yes, you want to eventually change things about the game, make new gamemodes, create oprations, etc. They future proofed the game for another decade

Why would it run worse? U can still play PC games from 1992 and they run just fine, look terrible but still work. And if they did have to change it, then make sure its a good change and ready from the start and as close as it can possibly be to the game considered perfect gameplay wise. Lets be realistic, nobody asked for theese graphics or this retarded spraying or shittier movement, people asked for better anti cheat, better MM ranks/leaderboards and rewards, and 128 tick servers. But they gave us none of those and decided to do what Valve always does, put some bs on us and then see what happens.

Those games from 1992 are not competitive multiplayer FPS games. CSGO had many exploits and bugs which piled on over the years, some of them were unfixable without completely rewriting the game so might as well do that in a better engine anyways. Most of your issues with the game are just bugs or optimization issues which yes, they should have waited longer before the full release, but that doesn't mean that they should not have done an engine port. Or that nobody asked for it, because people certainly did. Much like people asked for operations which will be a lot easier to develop in Source 2 than they were in GO

Lets say 1.6 is a competitive multiplayer game, it still runs fine. Modding for that game is as easy as ever. The most certanily should have worked on cs2 for another year before even releasing the beta. Operations will just a far between as they always were, valve doesn't care man, CSGO had better workshop coop maps than valve made operations

Not possible yet, many commands are still not useable in CS2. Hopefully more of the viewmodel commands will be added in the future. Cl_bob is needed as well.

Cause it isn't a new game. It's like when dota 2 was upgraded to source 2, the "dota reborn" update was launched. Same deal here, cs2 is "CS:GO reborn", but they decided to change the name for some reason

i agree with your statement that cs2 isnt all that different than csgo in terms of gameplay and mechanics. However the core changes are massive enough to create a new version of gameplay. Its almost like when csgo first came, it looked like a better looking version of css to me, but gradually over time they have made lot of updates that have shaped csgo as it is today. So basically this is just the beginning. 10 years from now, you would be able to say that yes the cs2 update was a major one.
