It is the one credit I give simple. Stockholm is the only event to ever have a decent prize pool and they won it handily. All other events prize pool is a joke by comparison.

one thing that no one can dispute is that kennys and simple are the most popular players of csgo ever

Surely Tarik is up there as well no? Although he's more known just for streaming and not for CS specifically

i mean like even casual players in cs who have never watched a game of cs know of kenn and s1mple like for eg most ppl in my region would have no idea who tarik is

Im surprised to hear that tbh, I'd assume Tarik is known at a similar level, but if you're talking about CS players specifically I can see that. Tarik I think is more well known for streaming in general while Kenny and S1mple are known specifically for CS. I will ask about Stewie though, do you think ppl in your region know who he is even as casual players? Cause I think he's more well known for CS specifically

i cant say for sure but most wouldnt know of stewie i think the thing is that almost no one is interested in watching professional cs and thus dont know anything, which also translate into lowering the skill level in my region. u would be surprised at how few* ppl know the window smoke on mirage or even what a jump throw bind is

That's fair. I think the issue for me is thinking people still know Kenny so well but not someone like Tarik or Stew or Get_Right
2023-09-30 22:16
Tarik is somewhat known, but I think you're experiencing a bit of NA bais tbh. He was just okay and never super relevant. Easily a more popular streamer over CSGO pro. Stewie is another one in the same boat. Popular for NA cs as their teams were the last hope of NA to do anything after years of the NA scene having far too many teams and all the talent was far too spread out, but on the worldwide scale for the most part NA CS wasn't really relevent with the exception of the occasional snipe. They did have a grand slam iirc, but outside of that they werent worth noting.

Yeah I think Im being a bit biased but Tarik, especially with Valorant and everything there, is really popular as a streamer and I'd think he'd have a similar level of fame to S1mple or Kenny. As for Stew It's kinda the NA buff, where being a content creator is so much easier and plus Stew had his reputation of trash talking smoke criminal. I mean it's not like Kenny was necessarily more relevant that Stew. Kenny got a major and some top 20's but Stew got a major and a grand slam y'know? Tarik got a major and major MVP as well, but I'm mainly talking about name recognition, not necessarily being known for CS

Well in that case Shroud probably clears all of them lol? You know? His name is everywhere, variety streamer so all different genres of games have watched him play. But as far as directly CSGO professional related popularity nobody from NA is seriously on the radar with perhaps the exception of Twistzz I think. 2 grand slams and played for 2 different scenes, and but still only 2 blips on the radar because both his NA and Faze run were very short lived.

I forgot about Shroud, yeah I'd say he's up there (Tenz as well but he is way way more known for Valo than for anything else so I wouldn't count him). And I dont know if I'd put Twistzz above Stew tbh. Stew I think always was better at making a name for himself and making himself memorable.

tarik major winner and mvp, there is a lot of people like that, who are not known at all, i dont think its enough to be recognised, since kenny and s1mple are more known, from start of their carrer where tarik took a little time to be considered good, i think in NA there is problem, that u dont know the players, but you for sure know Team Liquid for example or Cloud 9

I can see that, but I think in NA the big thing is players get known for content creation not for the competitive scene (examples are som, Tenz, Shroud, Tarik, and Stew), so while these players are known, they are not known for CS if that makes sense, while Kenny and s1mple are known just for CS

The worst major of all time is Boston clearly.(fact) But best one is more of a subjective matter,it depends on person. For example in my opinion its PGL Antwerp.

Boston was great. Even if C9 didn't win there were a lot of great matches and storylines, but C9 winning it completes probably the best story in all of CS (Ence winning katowice would've surpassed that I think, but they lost in the final).

I agree Its just that bitterness of defeat that I have experienced back then makes me hate it. Sk-fnatic mathcup were fire from the get-go,C9 getting revenge on G2 was something unexpected let alone them winning it all. FaZe-Mouz Nuke was amazing, sunny making a 'blunder'(read it in HenryG's voice) to NiKo winning a crucial 1v3 to get the map to OT. SK-C9 had blowouts in all 3 maps but it was a huge shock especially to brazilian community. FaZe thrashing NaVi was full joy, especially after that victory everyone were almost sure FaZe would mop the floor with C9,especially in h2h FaZe were like 8-0 against them so it was no surprise FaZe were the huge favourites. And it had to end it in a disappointment like that, like losing from 15-11 on decider werent bad enough,I also had school in like 2 hours back then. I dont think I have to point out that the day after has gone terrible for me.

You described it for me with the first sentence. I couldn't bear the stress of seeing the scoreboard of the decider so I went to bed early and woke up only to be crushed by the headlines and couldn't sleep later.

yeah I can understand that. Perhaps the most crushing loss in any CS major. Actually scratch that, Liquid Luminosity when Liquid choked 15-9 and 15-11 or something like that in two maps was worse

dreamhack cluj or esl one cologne 2016 for sure
2023-09-30 21:55
It really was, teams like Monte and players like siuhy, iM, jL, had the chance to show themselves to the wider audience, it resulted in a crazy shuffle during the player break, and i think Navi and mouz came on top in short-medium term

I started watching during COVID so I can only properly judge those, but Antwerp is by far the best and it's not even close. Rio is the worst major ever and Stockholm is the most overrated one. Paris was fine but ultimately pretty anticlimactic and every upset team got picked apart after the major, making it feel meaningless.

Atlanta 2017 was something else, man. Also, Rio challengers and legends stage was fire with the crowd
2023-10-01 00:50
IEM Rio Major 2022 because Jame finally came out of his hidey hole and clutched a 1v3 twice. The crowd was electric and cheared James name, nothing compares to watching Heroic lose 16-5 on their best map Overpass and Cadian whiffing looking like a fool. Good times, and cherry on top was Jame became MVP of a Major

Atlanta 2017 definitely, i remember the moment when Magisk had more kills than entire VP after ~15 rounds, all of it just to fall to the comeback on cobblestone.
