Streaming Problem
Germany ocrany
hey guys, I ran out of ideas and need help .. Here is the problem: Im streaming with my notebook (MSI GT70) and obs. Aslong as Im using ingame mode windowed on 1024x768, I can stream with Software Capture in nice quality - but my fps suffer due to the window mode. When Im playing fullscreen on "Software Capture, it shows me a black screen. When I use Game Capture as source, I can see what happens ingame but its blinking. On the stream, it just shows the same picture but gives sound. What can be the problem? Does it have to do with my notebook having Windows 8 (64bit?)? Or whats the problem.. It sucks to only be able to stream without blinking over Software Capture and windowed csgo.. I get 150 fps instead of 300 then. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be/solve? I appreciate any kind of tips, Im completely new to streaming .. Cheers

Mhh I got the same laptop and use it for streaming aswell. Using OBS I also have the same bug you have when I try to use Game Capture, it just shows the first frame and then continues only with sound. Software Capture does work for me, you could try to run the game in FullScreen Windowed mode (you can select this option in CSGO) and use the turbobutton on the laptop if you get fpsdrops. If you still continue to get fpsdrops download MSI Afterburner and overclock your notebook a bit more:)

so when your streaming with Software Capture, you can play in fullscreen mode and its fine? or are you using fullscreen windowed? you got the same laptop, tell me one thing - could you plug a 120hz monitor in? (for example the benq xl2410t) if so, which cable do you use?

Mhh I thought I was using FullScreen Windowed, but that is only needed when streaming with Xsplit(when you dont have prem). I just use FullScreen and it works fine.. No idea why it would show a blackscreen for you. About the screen; I've only used CRT monitors on my laptop. My teammates have played with 120hz monitors on the laptops though, but not without issues, it took some time to get it working for everyone... I'll ask a mate tonight if you can't figure it out. edit: I use software capture > monitor capture. Window capture doesn't work.

Thanks for trying to help out mate.. I appreciate it! :) I will try some things again this afternoon, I hope its just a configuration matter ..

by the way, when I try it with software capture > monitor capture and then select monitor 1 (which is the benq i want to play on aswell), it shows the desktop, when I go inactive it just shows the stream and the desktop :/

dwnload some older xplit version crakc it and run with game capture for sure is better use full screen cuz if you play at win systeam works on another windows so it take more cpu .... best what you can do is using obs(open brodcaster software) how much ram you have ? cuz if you use 32 bit version you can use max 3.19 i quess ?
2013-04-19 15:33
well i use obs right now - i ll try it with xsplit on monday, when a nice guy who tries helping me out lends me his xsplit acc to test.. maybe i can fix it before though

Xsplit will give you FPS drops for sure

i really dont understand why it doesnt display csgo in fullscreen mode when i stream using software capture .. i tried both, using window capture and monitor capture, but it keeps showing the desktop + obs. maybe it has to do with the connection of my monitor to the laptop?
2013-04-20 16:31
I don't really understand what's wrong. I'm using both win8 x64 & win7 x64 and gamesource DOES work with csgo when playing in fullscreen. Be sure to run OBS as administrator.
2013-04-20 16:36
Hmm.. done already :/ Game Source doesn't work for me in both, fullscreen & window mode. its only displaying the first frame..
2013-04-21 08:46
Really weird man. Try the latest OBS beta maybe?
2013-04-21 13:38
no one has an idea how to fix this? i tried downloading the latesat obs beta, its the same, game capture is not working properly and with software capture, I only hear the ingame sound but get a black screen, no matter what configuration settings... if this guy above wouldnt have wrote he uses the same laptop for streaming, I would have probably come to the conclusion that its the laptops fault..

I use OBS v0.472b. In what order do you start streaming by the way? Not sure if it matters, but I always load up CSGO before I turn on OBS.
2013-04-22 15:09
I use OBS v0.472b aswell. - this is how it looks like when I stream. the left window shows the video file I saved when testing stream a minute ago. I do hear the ingame sound, for example when hovering over the menu ingame. I first started csgo (fullscreen) then started obs, software capture > monitor capture 1, mark at Capture Layered Windows.
2013-04-22 15:30
Well I don't have Capture Layered Windows marked, only Capture Mouse Cursor is marked at my OBS.
2013-04-22 15:35
when I have it unmarked, it shows OBS and parts of my desktop instead of a black screen when Im ingame.. I still got the ingame menu sound though. What is this lol? I got my monitor plugged in with hdmi, maybe that causes trouble?
2013-04-22 15:43
I tried it with only my laptop monitor (without a plugged in external monitor) now, and I still cant manage to get CSGO displayed in fullscreen mode.. now im completly clueless what the issue could be.

[Update]I fixed the problem! Another very friendly guy got on team viewer with me and helped me setting everything up - it had to do with my geforce graphic card and my intel hd graphics that came into eachothers way.. Now I can stream in fullscreen with Game capture :) Thanks to everyone trying to help me out..
