it's not just 4-5 teams :) there's a lot of teams right now who play at the top level. NiP, VG, VP, WW, fnatic, Quantic, Curse.fi and Curse.us, ALTERNATE, CPH Wolves, Anexis, NaVi, ESC, LDLC, ex-AL, new team of shoxie and guardian, mouz, k1ck - some of those teams are better than the others, yet all of them can show some amazing counter-strike on their lucky day, no team except for NiP is untouchable. it's not like CS in 2006/2007 was absolutely random anyway.
"It doesnt mean much bc back then teams were coming up with new tactics and finding new ways to cover sites every tournament"
exactly, something that was absolutely shocking and new in 2005 is now an absolutely ordinary thing. however the game is less than a year old, there's still a lot to explore, the maps are much more detailed and the weapons are more balanced now (compared to 1.6, where everything except for m4/ak/awp was absolutely worthless). ESEA was the first lan to feature teams buying five-sevens on eco.
the smokes are very strong, giving a whole new dimension to strats and retakes (if only you could throw smokes over walls on d2...). i've yet to see a team abuse the smoke bug in csgo. also keep in mind that the game gets updated quite often, it was only 3 months ago that the recoil was completely changed.
