CSGO going f2p?
Sweden bj0rk
Don't know if it's a just a glitch or not, but take a look:
2013-04-25 09:38
100% no
2013-04-25 10:02
Sweden bj0rk
How can you be so sure?
2013-04-25 10:14
maybe because thousands of players bought it and they're not going to give them the money back ?
2013-04-25 14:04
Why should they give them money back? In TF2 u just earned an "elite status".
2013-04-25 14:14
Are you handicapped? They're going free to play, and charging for matchmaking seasons, which give money back to map makers. If you own CSGO, chances are they give the first season to you for free.
2013-04-25 16:36
the first season? if go is going f2p only the ones who paid for it should play matchmaking. Plus, this would be a way to prevent new cheaters!
2013-04-25 17:29
csgo is going f2p since forever
2013-04-25 10:18
Of course it is. The number of cs.go players is ridiculous, even in streams. They must earn some money someway ... like selling custom weapon skins, some kind of weird armor, etc, something like BF4Free, or League of Legends.
2013-04-25 10:29
valve doesn't give a shit how many people are watching some stream... they care about how many people buys their product and that's why the game is so noob friendly and not aimed for the competitive community. they want the noobs to tell all their noob friends about the game so they all buy it so they can play their gungame and classic casual on cs_office. making the game f2p would be a weird descision since they would then have to make some ingame store with hats and... oh god we're gonna have hats...
2013-04-25 12:29
But, just think, with more stream viewers, cs.go would sell more easly you know what i mean ? more stream viewers show that the game is interesting and that will make cs.go more sold. That's what im talking about, what a noob would want in this game ? golden deagles, some kind of skins, wtv. I think in a year or two, it will be play4free.
2013-04-25 12:41
I think that's quite an odd analogy. People who are watching streams of CS:GO are either active CS:GO players (who already have the game) or bored CS:S/1.6 players who have no intention of playing/buying CS:GO. Yes, some of those megabored CS players might eventually buy CS:GO, but their numbers won't increase with the amount of viewers. At least not in direct proportion. And also, there is minimal amount of viewers completely outside of the CS franchise. F.e. Do you watch streams of a game you don't actively play or have some in-depth knowledge about? I don't think so... It makes no sense. I wouldn't watch DotA2 stream, because I don't play this game and I know shit about it. Number of stream viewers won't increase the amount of sold copies, imo.
2013-04-25 14:03
I am one of those bored 1.6 players that watched a few csgo games, dont recall the tournament names (ms one, cph ?).I dont wanna play the game, just wanted to see what our 1.6 pros up to. And those games were boring to watch, maybe because I never played the game.
2013-04-25 21:09
+1 but I played the game and it's boring
2013-04-26 10:00
Not aimed for competitive play? Why did they make MM and in-game newspost about various tournaments INCLUDING link to streams? Oh because they want us to play gg and office, I get it....
2013-04-25 16:37
the game is not aimed for competitive play they have said that themselves more times than i can count.
2013-04-25 19:55
It's not aim ONLY towards competetive play.
2013-04-25 22:04
it's not aimed for competitive play
2013-04-25 22:08
100% it will be f2p sonner of later check this thread.
2013-04-25 11:35
Sooner or later*
2013-04-25 11:53
spooner :D
2013-04-25 20:07
The only VALVe's F2P game after TF2, coming soon is Counter-Strike : Tactical Intervention, based on the Source-Engine2
2013-04-25 11:54
Sweden bj0rk
That Minh Le's Tactical Intervention will be a CS franchise?
2013-04-25 11:55
That's what they said in a thread @
2013-04-25 11:57
It's not a Counter-Strike game, but Minh Le developed it like he wanted CS to be, but couldn't because CS evolved to something else. Valve holds the IP, that game is not a CS game, it's a spiritual successor. Minh Le is working with another company, his game is "Tactical Intervention" and runs on the Source Engine (same branch as CS:GO). Unless you work for Valve, I doubt you've even seen anything about Source Engine 2, because until this point no media has been released showing the engine.
2013-04-25 13:44
i've seen the screen shots @ made for this game, i'm in agreement with you but i just said what i've seen in 2 threads about the Tactical Intervention as VALVe's franchise
2013-04-25 13:49
and btw these guys, never put something incorrect about a game, it's kinda trusted gaming source (if i wasn't kinda busy i would look for that thread coz it's a bit old they always post many threads so it's hard to find an old one)
2013-04-25 13:58
Never heard of them, and the fact that those images never left that website only means that it isn't Source Engine 2, mainly because TI doesn't run on Source Engine 2.
2013-04-25 14:03
Can you link me to that thread?
2013-04-25 14:00
"(if i wasn't kinda busy i would look for that thread coz it's a bit old they always post many threads so it's hard to find an old one)" :s and you can't search for a thread via a search bare, you have to digg it
2013-04-25 14:15
It's not Valve game. And it's not even Counter-Strike. If we are talking about valve's f2p game u forgot about Dota2. Theoretically it's still in beta. When relese it will be f2p.
2013-04-25 12:07
Ok and what if i say, i've seen some screens from the testing ingame of this game made by VALVe :) where they are testing rendering in Source-Engine2 maybe i'm wrong maybe not :p
2013-04-25 12:21
Lot of games use source engine and it doesn't mean it is Valve's game. For ur information: Tactical Intervention Developer(s) FIX Korea Publisher(s) OGPlanet Designer(s) Minh Le
2013-04-25 12:49
But still a VALVe franchise isn'it ? just like NEXON's CS:O and it's based on the SOURCE-ENGINE2 not SOURCE-ENGINE
2013-04-25 13:45
No. They probably just bought licence to use this engine.
2013-04-25 14:06
Well maybe i misunderstood the thread :D

Ofcourse its going f2p. The game is dieing on the casual side of the game, which is probably the most important side, since the competitive scene always comes from the casual side. No new casual players = no new pro players = end of the scene sooner or later. But going f2p isn't all that bad for CS:GO, sure it will bring in more cheaters, but if Valve gives the premium members (people that bought the game) their own seperate competitive servers, then those cheaters will be playing on pubs which have admins to kick them off. If they just give the casuals items to buy like season passes, or even weapon skins for use on casual servers (with a cvar to disable these on your server) and keep the premium members away from these f2p users (maybe finally give the paying players their 128 ticks), then who cares? It's only gonna make the game and scene grow, meaning more players = more viewers = more sponsors = bigger tournaments. I'd say go f2p with GO asap, save it before its dead.

LOL CS:GO can't be f2p. No need to explain.
2013-04-25 14:02
pls explain mr Long
2013-04-25 14:07
Well it either can not or needs to be. A huge part of the community have to update their PCs to play GO. Not too many are willing to spend the money before they know what GO is all about. They won't buy the game cause their PC cant handle it, they won't buy the PC cause they don't if it's worth it. If GO never goes f2p they at least should have periods of free testing. A weekend is not enough, a free week every now and then would do only good
2013-04-25 14:20
Azerbaijan Talley
Yea, because Call of Duty series are so good, so they deserve 40$ price and best competitive FPS game of the decade doesn't worth 9$ and needs to be f2p. F*ck logic.
2013-04-25 15:17
you clearly fail to grasp the difference between being competitive and appealing to masses.
2013-04-25 15:48
Germany VxO4
So in other words you assume the competitive scene is poor and the casuals are rich?
2013-04-25 19:31
lmao, how did you manage to conclude that from my posts? CoD is a modern shooter, CSGO is barely a remake of a 1999 game. one of them appeals to the masses, the other one only appeals to competitive players.

You sir are beyond the being retarded. Nothing can describe it into words :D After 1month you took the chance to reply him now when it happend? Just wow
2013-05-18 00:13
Well, sir, it took that long for Valve to go f2p. I was talking about free periods and now even Valve gets it. Dude save yourself from total, lifelong debaterape and just try to be less a retard
2013-05-18 00:27
As you can see, they made the step. Play GO for free. I know it must be hard to be so wrong but maybe you will learn something here
2013-05-18 00:05
Germany VxO4
Its for 3days. 3Days. And its not the first time CS:GO had a free weekend. And you call me severly retarded. Just wow Funny about your first comment "Well it either can not or needs to be. A weekend is not enough, a free week every now and then would do only good"
2013-05-18 00:15
Lol, you just choose to remain retarted. If you just look back at the "conversation" you can see how you were retarded on a whole different matter. I said GO needs to have periods of f2p, longer than a weekend. Now they gave the weekend but it's not gonna be enough. They need a longer f2p than a couple of days, or at least give some heads up before. Why are you arguing here? I'm right and you are a retard. Why am I even replying here..
2013-05-18 00:24
Germany VxO4
Exuse what does the f2p mean in the video game genre. We have to make that clear before we keep argueing okay? So lets see LoL is f2p Crossfire is f2p And a bunch of other games are f2p What does f2p mean? Well you can play the god damn game every fucking day FREE to PLAY. When ever you want. These free weekends are just like handing out a demo of a certain game. Since that game has only multiplayer a demo doesnt make that much sense does it? And therefore you have a free weekend to boost and promote that game and people can try it. So much hype about a limited multiplayer demo/free to play session Either it is free to play or it isnt. And since they still want money for it. Its not f2p
2013-05-18 00:34
I don't think so, but even it it does they should leave all the skins and all this purchasable stuff out of competitive mode, and let people use it in casual modes, which I think would be cool to have. Like that white SAS model and ofcourse 128 MM servers for "subscribed" players.
2013-04-25 14:15
valve need organize some big touneys for csgo and make some updates
2013-04-25 14:20
They cant do it unless they give back the money to the people who bought the game.
2013-04-25 14:27
United Kingdom seqq
Just like they refunded all the people who bought TF2 right?
2013-04-25 15:03
Cant they go to court or something for that?
2013-04-25 15:16
don't see any problem with that. games ALWAYS drop in prices, they're like two times cheaper after a year passes since their release. can't see how making a game free is legally different from lowering its price.
2013-04-25 15:53
I just dont find it fair. Besides, the game hasnt been released for a year yet...
2013-04-25 17:29
Nope, you can't sue valve, you should've read steam's ToS.
2013-04-25 21:04
I dont think anyone reads those :P

steam database of game and branch history. if valve updates some branch, there is some assumption that csgo update will be released in next 24 hours to public. we should expect update today at midnight (CET)

In the most updates, valve is adding some stuff which is working only in the developer version of cs:go so faar, to the main client. Cyborgmatt is searching for these unreleased content in the cstrike folder and writes everything down on his blog.
2013-04-25 19:32
People keep complaining about cheaters, how it is ever gonna be f2p...
2013-04-25 22:11
yeah it should go f2p. and the cheaters will rise at 75%
