oldsQL: Makaveli and Notorious B.I.G atm: Jay-Z > Magna Carta Holy Grail and NAS ;)
2013-07-13 08:18
I've only listened through Magna Carta a couple of times, but I'm not impressed. Maybe it needs time to grow on me, but yeah. "Picasso Baby" and "Jay Z Blue" were the only highlights. At least it wasn't as bad as Watch the Throne, though. J. Cole's "Born Sinner" isn't half bad, but my top 2013 albums so far are Inspectah Deck, Esoteric and 7L's "CZARFACE" and Statik Selektah's "Extended Play."

2013-07-13 08:46
2 Chainz really? Im mean, really?
2013-07-13 16:08

Why the hate.. He's really good. I mean we can really feel the soul in this awesome guitar solo that makes other guitarists look like amateurs.

Biggie / pac / Eazy e GAME OVER
2013-07-13 09:01
you state rakim but you come up with just classic... i am deeply disappointed
2013-07-13 10:30
Don't blame him. "Classic" is straight up fire. "Timeless, so age don't count in the booth when your flow stays submerged in the fountain of youth." Check out "Try'na Write Rhymes," though:
2013-07-13 12:06
why disapointed? i just like that song:)
2013-07-13 15:11
and especially this version without kanye. it's actually funny that i didn't see kanye west mentioned even once on this thread. if this was a thread from 2 years ago kanye would be all over it. but that's the difference between radio rappers and real talents :)

wutang isnt a rapper....reopen thread and reopen brain.
2013-07-13 09:10
smartass much?
2013-07-13 09:43
yes, he shouldnt say "close thread" as if his choices are fact. Especially if he doesnt even know what hes talking about, wutang is a huge group and some of them actually werent that good....
2013-07-13 10:10
name specificly who wasent that good ?
2013-07-13 10:19
GZA, ugod, masta killa....and ghost face killa was alright at times, but nothin that great...

he is some lil gayne noob shit
2013-07-13 11:35
i cant stand lil wayne, if u look farther up in the thread i dont mention him in my list, faggot
2013-07-13 12:26
I know music is subjective, but come on. Ironman, Supreme Clientelle and Fishscale? GZA, I don't know. He's past his peak, which was in the mid to late 90s, but his flow is still well-preserved. Deliverance? Not so much, maybe. U-God and Masta Killa have both released their share of sloppy shit, but they're obviously talented. Masta Killa's "No Said Date" is good, and I'm sure you would look at him differently if he was on 36 Chambers and not in jail when it was made.
2013-07-13 12:19
i wont deny that they have all put out a decent track or 2 in their time, but the thread title is best rappers ever, and i wouldnt put them anywhere near the top...just my opinion
2013-07-14 11:32
i agree on u-god and masta killa but gza is good. i personally don't like ghost face but i still think he's quite talented
2013-07-14 11:41
mobb deep are wack compared to mos def, kweli, nas - the only rappers from the east coast that count in the game. westside > eastcoast. edit: i forgot de la soul and a tribe called quest - these guys are legendary.
2013-07-13 09:09
whos kweli?
2013-07-13 09:11
talib kweli
2013-07-13 09:13
oooo ok
2013-07-13 10:08
nas - the only rappers from the east coast that count in the game i hope you kidding.ever heard of big pun,big l,rakim or notorious? and btw as far as i know mos def is from east coast aswell
2013-07-13 09:27
i didnt say that mos def is from the west coast.
2013-07-13 09:48
you know nothing...and you had to edit your post, just funny
2013-07-13 15:09
Please. I love Mos Def, Talib Kweli - and their Black Star work - and Nas as much as the next guy, but you can't call one of the most successful east coast groups ever wack. Mobb Deep are at the very top for what hardcore rap goes. Juvenile Hell, The Infamous, Hell on Earth and Murda Muzik are all classics. I didn't like Amerikaz Nightmare, Blood Money, The Safe is Cracked etc., but they have some quality shit on them as well.

The best to have ever done it? I'd have to say Big Daddy Kane Rakim KRS-One Kool G Rap Nas That's not my list of favorite rappers, however. I've never been much into KRS-One, but I recognize that he deserves to be among the top five. My list of favorites is similar, though. I love Kool G Rap, but right now, I think my list would look something like: Big Daddy Kane Rakim Nas Big L Mobb Deep
2013-07-13 12:00
id swap out mobb deep for kool g rap, just personal opinion though.
2013-07-13 12:28
I picked Mobb Deep because it was one of the first groups I discovered when I got into rap in junior high. Been in love with them ever since.

I'd go for 2pac, after him I'd say Biggie, Rakim, Nas, Ice Cube, Jay, Eminem... and the list can go on and on, but for me Pac is an unquestionable NO.1. I'd say that ATM Kendrick is (considering technique) the best rapper alive, which doesn't make him best rapper ever, but still he's remarkably above this newschool crap (not hating newschool, it's just not everybody should do it IMO). I suggest u make a topic 'bout greatest producers ;D
