compound movements (basic exercises with a barbell such as deadlift,bench press, barbell curls etc) have always been better for beginners since most people forget they have a dominant arm & will be able to gain more in that one due to it being able to perform the exercises much more efficient with compound movement u get the other body parts up to par.

while i agree i miss used the term since its multi muscle exercises that are called compound movements i feel a barbell curl still is in there due to the fact u use both arms on it meaning u use both of them not just one. Also the fact that i feel its much better in terms of trying to even out ur arms quicker in comparison to when u use a dumbbell. do note this is just how it feels for me.

look up the 1-2-1 routine. 1 rep with left, rep with both at the same time, 1 rep with left. this will help cause you'll be focusing more on your left arm but youll still be working your right so it helps with muscle balance. either that or just do an extra set with a bit more weight for your left arm.

mate if you use barbells your stronger arm will do most of the work unless you force yourself to do it with your weaker one. With dumbbells you can't cheat hence it's way better Also use dumbbels your weaker arm can get the desired reps with your stronger arm will feel not as trained as it could do more but that will equal out with time

no you don't, you can just apply twisting in the wrist to put a greater resistance on your stronger arm (you will do this automatically when you're tired) in theory, if your wrist is strong enough, you can curl a bar with one hand without holding it in the middle

Probably wont be seen but, what you can do, is still use dumb bells, but do a 1-2-1 routine. So its your left arm that isnt matching up with the other, so youre gonna do a rep on left arm, then curl BOTH left and right, then left again. So itll be left, then both, then left again.

Use dumbells, same weight on each arm. Start the set with your weaker arm first then see how many you do. Ensure you're hitting 8-12 range. Then go with your stronger arm second and only do as many as you have done with your weaker arm. i.e. If you do 10 reps with weaker arm, only do 10 reps with stronger. Eventually they'll even out. Stay away from barbells, stay away from close grip pullups. Generally, stay away from two arm bicep exercises and train your weaker arm first, and keep to the same reps on your stronger.

It depends on how long you have been working out as well. I have been working out 8 times a week for about a month now (not arms only ofc). And even tho my left bicep is showing more my right arm is still bigger and stronger. I guess it just takes more time before they even out?

Genetics play a role on that one, try isolate exercises, add some extra heavy reps on your left arm and also try to start with your left hand because it will rest less and it will require you to push more, hope it helps.

I don't know how big the difference is but it is common to have a bigger muscle than the opposite, it happens often.. make sure you're doing the same reps with same weight

Sounds like you're doing the exercise wrong and when you get to your left arm you're over-compensating with the shoulder and use more moment to do the same weight on both arms. The solution is to go down in weight on both arms, but doing the exercise slower and more controlled, and of course learn to do them right. Instead of all those idiots in gym that always sway their body and pull with chest and shoulder aswell, just because they have too much weight on the dumbbells.

If you're one of those guys who only train arms & chest, that's what you deserve ;) However you'd want to pay attention to your technique, learn to squeeze the reps as clean or cleaner than your stronger arm. You might be using more momentum and not the actual muscle. Also notice if you always carry dumbells / plates with the stronger arm. That means it gets more volume and is therefore bigger, eg. if you load the leg press, lets say 16 plates using mostly the stronger arm... If you are a gym noob you should be more worried about your overall development, are your chins / bench press / squats / rows going up or stalling? Focus on progression on these big multi-joint movements (this tip will speed up your results more than anything and save you from looking imbalanced and stupid) Keep it up (+ start reading some better forums, hltv org is the wrong place for gym tips generally ;)

When doing DB curls start with your left first. Mind Muscle connection is key. You seem to be always focused on your right arm 24/7 and flexing only your right...AKA you're not contracting and controlling as much as you are with your right arm. BArbell curls: Your right arm is most likely using 70% of the weight while your left arm is using 30% . Take your damn time. Dont swing so much until the very last 2 reps

Your dominant arm will naturally be slightly larger. If your aesthetic is really bugging you then use barbell's. The logic behind this is that by training them together the weaker arm will catch up while the stronger arm will maintain its size and gains. I typically like to throw barbell exercises last... make it light enough that you can do a 1-2 second flex at the top and perform 10-12 reps with immaculate form. Dont skimp on the negative either go ALL the way down so you feel a stretch in your lower bicep on both arms... this elongates the bicep making your arms have a "fuller" look as you continue to try to get them to grow. You have less strengh in your left arm (unless ur a leftie), so you will allways be able to improve your right arm the most, because it is stronger, you endure longer and harder :), the left one is weaker so you endure less. If you want them to be the same size, don't exercise ur right arm so much for a while.

Maybe an extra set on left to catch up + make sure you do the exercise properly on your left arm. Some people get lazy and "cheat" a rep or two each set. Combine that with a none-proper, i.e. curl, it'll add up in time to the results you're with atm. It might be your issue since it's a common one but I'm not sure this is your case at all.

I had the similar problem, still have at some point, my reason was that I broke my left arm (in elbow) pretty bad when i was a kid and it kind of grew weak. It sounds stupid maybe, but doing more reps with left arm gave me pretty good result. I was starting with left and doing one extra set with it in the end.
