FPS inconsistent
North America CrazyHeartsz
Hey Guys. I recently finished building my new Rig, and I'm getting 250FPS and drops randomly to about 100-160. My friend has the same rig, but with an i7-4770k, and he's getting constant 300+. Thanks for everybody who helps :D Here is my PC link: pcpartpicker.com/p/NYWTqs

Help? :D

This could be caused if you have "Power management mode" in your NVIDIA 3D Settings set to Prefer maximum performance. Have you overclocked your cpu? That was another reason for me to random fps drops.
2015-02-17 06:14
I havent OC yet. Ive set the NVIDIA Settings to maximum performance, and my GPU drivers are all up to date :/

Try changing it to adaptive. What do you have in your launch options?
2015-02-17 06:31
Usuallg the normal ones, such as: novid, high, threads 4, console.
2015-02-17 06:44
Try removing -high and -threads then. I've heard mixed results of those and don't recommend them.
2015-02-17 06:45
no improvements. :(

Unpark cores.
2015-02-17 06:18
I already unparked all of my cores :/
2015-02-17 06:22
Set power management to Performance mode. Windows power management.
2015-02-17 06:27
Thats in the control panel right? The power options? Ive set those to High Performance.
2015-02-17 06:45
Try -processheap on launch options

Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit) $99.98 retard alert, not helping sry m8
2015-02-17 07:39
$89.98* 10$ discount & why is he a retard, because he pays for a license?
2015-02-17 07:43
lol, apparently so :D
2015-02-17 09:10
I don't get it.. Why does that make you a retard? xD
2015-02-17 09:18
Probably because there's a free way to do it, but I rather take the legit way, and not have to deal with any issues :D

he's implying win8 may cause significant fps drops on some builds, compared to win7 the reason may not be so obvious, like: r/GlobalOffensive/comments/2e6xsr/potential_fix_for_those_experiencing_fps_lag_and/

windows power management - high performance. unpark all cores. video.cfg in /cfg - mat_queue_mode 2 instead of -1/0. nvidia panel: v_sync off. refresh rate max prefer max power single display performance fps_max 300 hf?
2015-02-17 09:18
DUDE I FUCKING LOVE YOU
2015-02-17 09:31
only problem is, fps_max 300 doesn't stay at 299, but when i put it on fps_max 400, i get like 350 fps lol
2015-02-17 09:35
fps_max 0?
2015-02-17 12:45
it'll never stay completely stable but if you keep it above 200 you'll be okay
2015-02-17 19:52
Ya but shouldn't it be stable? I can put it on like fps_max 0 and it will go to 400, but shouldn't it be able to be at the max if its at fps_max 300?

fps_max 0 is just fine - if it drops under 300 at times, I would for for 0 and not fps_max 300. I hit 2-600FPS depending on maps and so on.
2015-03-21 01:26
disable speedstep from bios.
2015-02-17 09:20
phn^ just fixed his problem.

ya forgot to write this, thanks :D

nps nps hf :> 144hz = 288+1=289 fps_max. fps_max 300. no higher! :] mine goes from 295/303 dunno why but it even exceeds the 300cap ;E
2015-02-17 09:59
is it bad if i put max fps 400?
2015-02-17 10:00
Its not bad, but for e.g I rather have it 300 because my GFX will run cooler, hence its totally quiet. With fps 400 I can actually here the fan (not loud, but I prefer not to hear it)

300 or 400 its the same result onscr just a little heavier on the cpu imo
2015-02-17 12:32
Try unparking your cores coderbag.com/Uploads/Unpark-CPU-App.zip legit link/program I promise
2015-02-17 19:40
keylogger, lost my cores
2015-02-17 19:41
Your cores are mine now. Sorry.
2015-02-17 19:46
Give him his cores back.
2015-02-17 19:48
I will return for cash monies. 10k in non subsequent notes, for every hour I wait 1 core dies.
2015-02-17 19:57
I can only do P250 Sand-Dunes, that's good enough, but don't kill the cores, or else I'll get the RAM
2015-02-17 19:59
The RAM is gone, don't try to find it.
2015-02-17 20:31
How many P250 Sand-Dunes are we talking?
2015-02-17 20:31
1 & 1/2
2015-02-17 20:35
you're really hardcore
2015-02-17 19:54
.
2015-02-17 19:45
I had to turn off the C1 CPU State in BIOS. That fixed some fps drops for me.
2015-02-17 20:02
Your gtx760 is bottlenecking your i7k. If you just use your computer for gaming, an i7k is just an overkill. You would have a more balanced pc with i5k + gtx 970.
2015-02-17 20:37
so would it be fine if I got a 970 with the 4790k? :D
2015-02-17 20:57
I guess so.
2015-02-17 21:39
not, it won't. It will be fine if You put GTX 980 and i5 4690K, not the other way... If you build your Rig for Games, focus on GPU not CPU. Even with GTX 970 that processor is completly pointless.
2015-03-21 12:58
Not bottlenecking...
