Thats nutty, moving to another continent for CS.
2015-03-02 20:07
welcome
2015-03-02 20:10
It's his career......
2015-03-02 20:10
it's not a career lol
2015-03-02 20:37
And why not?
2015-03-02 22:07
If you get enough money to live with it. Then it is a career. Like in any other sport you can't believe you will do it so many years.
2015-03-02 22:43
Obviously not for you, as you suck.
2015-03-02 23:02
I'd say making $200k a year is a career! :)
2015-03-03 00:30
yea everything below that is waste of time.. like 70k$ or 80k$.. na that wont cut it lol
2015-03-03 00:38
I'd say making $2Mille a year is a career. If Cloud9 has the money for it than why not, but its going to be hard when they will change a player.. Will he Travel from NA to Europe to try hem out?
2015-03-06 07:01
... They would pick up a European player obviously.
2015-03-07 04:52
moving to another continent for his job and career yes.
2015-03-02 20:24
a lot of starcraft players from korea have done that. dont see the weird part of this :)
2015-03-02 20:35
i read, might make it out of a group soon
2015-03-02 20:09
Oh my god. They should get ChrisJ :)

Interesting . .
2015-03-02 20:11
Is clown8 too good for NA? They are struggling against t2/3 teams there lol...
2015-03-02 20:11
in freakin online games nobody gives a shit about. for what reason do they need to go 15-0-0 in esea when 9-0-6 is completely fine to make the lan?
2015-03-02 22:53
they were unbeatable untill ddos
2015-03-03 00:40
not even that. and the havent been ddosd recently.
2015-03-03 00:46
and they won everything
2015-03-03 00:46
no, for example they lost vs a tryhard clg in overtime on mirage. notice how clg was super tryhard mode and still needed overtime, although mirage is a better map for clg than it is for cloud9.
2015-03-03 00:51
wtf? theis is their career as said earlyer, why wou8ldent they try hard? LOL wtf
2015-03-07 06:18
dat logic remarkable
2015-03-03 00:39
they can't scrim in NA, the scene here is so bad it's not even funny. last year it was even worse, but it hasn't gotten any better, yet, after the money started flowing in. moving is a great idea for them if they want to actually scrim for a change.
2015-03-07 06:42
C9, please. Don't do this. You're one of the only decent teams we have!
2015-03-02 20:16
Yes do this. There's so much more overseas for CS, they'll only get better. It's not like they won't be an American team anymore or something
2015-03-02 20:22
+1
2015-03-02 20:26
I don't know. I'm a fanboy, and I feel like I'd lose touch with them for some reason if they moved from here. *shrugs*
2015-03-02 22:34
wut...
2015-03-02 22:50
CLG is good
2015-03-06 06:55
They certainly are, and I can see Mythic and Keyd Stars going places as well in the next few months. However, our number of teams that can compete at the top level is significantly smaller than the level in EU.
2015-03-06 14:59
Well, C9 will still be representing the US. They just wont be living there. IMO this is a great move for them. They can consistently play at the top level without jet lag or anything bothering them at majors.
2015-03-07 04:28
Worked for NoA.

NoA originally played in USA not in Europe. XeqtR, BSL, knoxville (elemeNt and Naikon later) travelled there to tag along with Method, shaGuar and Destructo. Back in the CPL's were the thing. Unless you're talking about the dannish NoA (hpx, Zonic, Paddy, MJE, etc)
2015-03-02 22:33
They bootcamped in EU for months on end during late summer and fall 2004.
2015-03-02 22:34
They lived together on 1m place playing more than 12h a day ... How should that be a good bootcamp ? No wonder they failed

A bit different with three Norwegians xD
2015-03-02 22:43
Thing is that they can compete at all the T2 lans n shit and overall make more money than now
2015-03-02 20:24
Plus have access to European streaming times a bit better
2015-03-02 20:26
More access to playing top tier teams because currently they have a lower level of teams to play against.
2015-03-02 20:27
yeah if team fuckin liquid is considered a top contender where ur playing at, u better get the fuck outta there LOL
2015-03-02 22:54
And more LANs in general, and online tournies/etc, right? since NA has some, but EU usually has much more.
2015-03-03 00:04
For some reason I don't see people like sgares or semphis doing that.
2015-03-02 20:25
Sgares is still in school, so I can see him not being completely on board with the idea. I don't think Semphis has any particular tiedowns though.
2015-03-02 20:29
Sgares always seemed too less of a nerd to do something like this anyway. About the others I don't know. Shroud, I think, doesn't really do anything beside streaming/sleeping/playing officials.
2015-03-02 20:32
how old is he?
2015-03-03 01:07
if they are considering to move - that means that they all can go. If one of them couldn't move - they won't consider it
2015-03-02 20:41
gares is their lowest player. i think people give him too much shit bcs he is usually a decent rifler, but if theyd really move to europe and he doesnt wanna, theyll probably just replace him. hes not that good of an igl anyways apparently.
2015-03-02 22:56
Dunno. I think the best thing they have going for them is the element of surprise. I think it would hurt them more than help. The teams they'd have to compete with would have more talent and the same practice conditions, so they'd be at a disadvantage still.

At first, yes. But if they actually have the individual skills the think they do, it will help them over time. Which is why they should do it after the major in long term preparation for future ones.

Very exciting news I have to say. Let's all help push them in the right direction by spamming their streams and social media. You need to practice against the best to consistently beat them, we all know this. Can't say I agree with the decision on Germany though, should have chosen the UK even if it's less convenient for sponsors. The likeliness of 5 Americans being happy in their social lives while being unable to communicate with the people around them is quite low imo. You might think it won't be a problem and they'll just have translators and speak to young international Germans, but the truth is that it will affect them in their lives outside the game, and being content with your life outside the game is essential to performing ingame.
2015-03-02 22:47
well shroud really doesnt do anything apart from streaming, semphis doesnt have a social life or at least never used to when he still looked like a bum and shahzam? cmon...
2015-03-02 22:58
I can confirm Semphis sleeps 16 hours a day

Yeah, Shroud's the most likely to be happy there. But n0thing, sgares and the new hipster semphis (who is extremely American even though he's Canadian)? I'm skeptical, man. No reason to choose Germany over England or Sweden other than the convenience it provides for their sponsors. I imagine Logitech has offered them a good, large and cheap house there for example. But in Sweden they would be able to hang out with NiP and Fnatic socially and practice on LAN (Inferno Online), have optimal ping and live in a country where CS is mainstream culture. Plus they would be able to communicate with almost everyone without any problem. In England they would communicate like a native with everyone and would basically feel like natives. In Germany they would communicate with some, others not, while there being little CS culture. The team is also full of Americans who can actually stand the cold weather.
2015-03-02 23:42
It all depends on their connections too, from C9, maybe their best option was in Berlin? I don't know EU net/etc but...can they scrim vs VP/fnatic/etc from Berlin? I agree with you about the Sweden thing, I think that'd be their best option.

Ye that's what I'm saying, the reason Berlin is their top pick atm is C9's contacts. Remember how they went to Switzerland during Sweden bootcamp to meet with Logitech. So many tech companies in Central Europe. They would also be able to go to more events to promote C9 from Germany since it's in the middle of the continent. Plus things are cheaper in Germany, especially housing is much cheaper for them. But yes they can scrim all of Europe from Berlin. And from London/Stockholm.
2015-03-02 23:50
I'd like to see them in Sweden, they'd get much more out of it like you said, especially being able to play at a LAN/etc? yeah. But isn't Sweden pretty expensive all around? :P

Ye it is pretty expensive for foreigners. Not crazy compared to Germany though. Plus they could recruit Swedish players and still do lan pratice with them. Plenty of Scandinavians like me who speak English like a native and couldn't care less.
2015-03-02 23:57
If you live in Berlin you can prac against anyone in Europe. I live in Sweden and I have <30 ping to France, Germany, Netherlands and such countries. In Sweden I have 1-9 ping. Edit : wrong reply.
2015-03-03 01:08
I live in Denmark and I get 60 ping in iberian servers, 50 ping in ukrainian you can easily play versus everyone in europe.
2015-03-03 00:34
What your saying has a lot of logic behind it, they really should move to an english speaking country like england, if not sweden for the reasons you pointed out plus the fact that they are like velebs pretty much in sweden.
2015-03-07 05:42
Berlin? Nono Please no
2015-03-02 22:49
C9 move to Germany? They will all come back with VAC bans
2015-03-02 23:00
lol'd
2015-03-02 23:43
a move isn't going to help these scrubs.
2015-03-03 00:02
Berlin is a good choice. Good connection, prices are cheap for food (compared to other big cities), they _could_ play german EPS,starladder, esea invite and all the other shitty leagues.
2015-03-03 00:24
Free trip to another continent to relax and play games why not.
2015-03-03 01:40
Trip? they'd be moving there for the time being. It'd be their home until they move back.
