Well if you like hiking there's tons of nice trails and things like that. If you like cars there are meets with super nice cars quite often and drifting events every month at a track around an hour away.
Said everyone lol. UK and Europe has tons of really old and beautiful buildings, with 100's or 1000's of years of history. In the US, anything over 100 years old is f*ckin' ancient (not saying that it ain't beautiful though).
In the winter it can be really cold :-) but the last 2-3 winters have been like without to much snow and not like dying cold.. The summer when i was younger sucked alot, alot of rain and thunder. The last 3-4 have been super great, with like +20 in temperature everyday almost :-)

I really think it is a great city overall (buildings distribution, green areas), not a dangerous city for the most part. and it has great connections with surrounding cities (Viana, Porto, Barcelos, Guimaraes).
