anexis need 12 rounds against eFuture to go through; implied that fnatic win against Immunity.
2011-10-02 10:55
eFuture needs to win against anexis with a 7 rounds difference which would give them +10 rounds whereas anexis then has +9 rounddifference. fnatic also needs to have a 7 round difference win against team immunity to have +10 rounddifference to be surely in the next round. this means 16:10 would be sufficient for anexis. edit: nvm, didnt know that the rounds against team immunty doesnt count in a three way tie.

anexis need 12 rounds against eFuture to go through; implied that fnatic win against Immunity. Maths for JoeM. anexis: 16-14 and x-16 = 16+x - 30 fnatic: 14-16 and 16-10 = 30-26. fnatic go through. efuture: 10-16 and 16-x = 26 - 16+x. x=11 will give anexis 27-30 and efuture 26-27. (efuture go through) x=12 will give anexis 28-30 and efuture 26-28. (anexis go through) x=13 will give anexis 29-30 and efuture 26-29. (anexis go through)

2011-10-02 11:35

2011-10-02 11:37
ef +4 -6 = -2 an -4 +2 = -2 fn +6 -2 = +4 1.fnatic 2.TBD Anexis vs. eFuture @ de_TBA (game for second place in group)
2011-10-02 11:35
where u get that information?
2011-10-02 11:39
it should be in this situation
2011-10-02 11:42
i think that eFuture will go to playoffs because they won against Anexis
2011-10-02 11:44
Anexis should through then, because they beat fnatic.
2011-10-02 11:45
not really because this is "fight" between anexis and eFuture so their meeting is more important.
2011-10-02 11:47
no. that is reversed as anexis>fnatic>eF Next step would be Rounds Gained between 3-way-tie = Anexis 2nd or All rounds counted (include Immunity) = Anexis 2nd. If no such rules exist then they'd have to play rematch. imho.
2011-10-02 11:46
fuck that stupid rules
2011-10-02 11:48
actually fnatic is 1st because he has the best round difference. anexis and efuture have the same round difference so their meeting will be deciding(which efuture won)
2011-10-02 11:49
thats retarded and never seen such a rule, esl just blows
2011-10-02 11:52
Same rules as in Europe football tournaments.
2011-10-02 11:58
not really...in football tournaments you win the tie if you have scored more goals than your opponent...hence 28-30 > 26-28
2011-10-02 12:03
but if someone gets tie on goals ( 30-30, 30-30) in this way HEAD-TO-HEAD stats
2011-10-02 12:08
true...but still not completely the same :D
2011-10-02 12:09
but they dont! Anexis = 28-30, efuture = 26-28!
2011-10-02 12:13
hence 28-30 > 26-28 sure about that, but it's CS :)))
2011-10-02 12:15
You cant determine who progresses from the group based off their group stage result in this scenario as its a 3-way tie between fnatic/efuture/anexis. It doesnt matter that efuture beat anexis in groups the only way to determine is by a rematch. It goes: - points (which in this case has 3 teams tied) then - head-to-head result (cant be done in this case due to a 3-way tie scissors/paper/rock situation) then - rounds (which in this case anexis/efuture are tied) lastly - rematch
2011-10-02 11:49
actually rounds be4 head-to-head. and only head-to-head of teams which have same round difference.
2011-10-02 11:52
i highly doubt its rounds before head-to-head that would be incredibly stupid, but even if it is it doesnt change the situation as head-to-head cant be used due to it being a 3-way tie
2011-10-02 11:52
it is more logical that rounds go before head to head. head-to-head cant be used due to it being a 3-way tie only head-to-head of teams which have same RD matters. matches against fnatic have nothing to do with this
2011-10-02 11:54
No, head-to-head should count before rounds as its a far better method of determing the better team, and as far as im aware thats the case in this tournaments ruleset too. Head to head matters when teams are tied on points, not rounds. Matches against fnatic have everything to do with this as its a 3-way tie. Rounds should be the absolute last resort in determing who progresses.
2011-10-02 11:57
ok. there is no point arguing with u because u obviously don't understand or you don't want to understand. it will be announced soon so we will see who is right
2011-10-02 12:00
I really do understand very well, feel free to believe whatever you want though
2011-10-02 12:01
lol fnatic > ef; ef > anexis....fnatic > ef > anexis anexis > fnatic; fnatic > ef....anexis>fnatic>ef ef > anexis; anexis > fnatic....ef>anexis>fnatic How's the h2h rule look to you now?
2011-10-02 12:05
I already went over that, you cant use h2h because its a 3-way tie.. hence you have to go to rounds to determine who goes through (which is tied, so the last line is a rematch)
2011-10-02 12:15
nested rules! ESL rules!
2011-10-02 12:31
REMATCH is likely to be unrealistic.since anexise and efuture are tied in case of rounds,Head-to-head of both teams is what counts despite rounds or head-to-head before. RULES IS "When the round difference is equal between two teams in a 3 way tie, the head2head match decides the winner"
2011-10-02 12:50
well done
2011-10-02 11:44
I was thinking the same, Immunity lost all matches so games against immunity will be ignored. So the standing is as follows: 1. fnatic 3 pts (14-16 16-10) +4 2. eFuture 3 pts (10-16 16-12) -2 3. Anexis 3 pts (16-14 12-16) -2 either eFuture will be 2nd because of winning head-to-head against Anexis or there will be another match to decide the 2nd place. my guess is that eFuture will advance because they won against Anexis.
2011-10-02 11:47
You cant put efuture through because their head-to-head win is irrelevant as they're in a 3-way tie. You can only do a head-to-head win and make it count in a 2-way tie.
2011-10-02 11:50
When the round difference is equal between two teams in a 3 way tie, the head2head match decides the winner!
2011-10-02 12:07
head2head has already been thrown out though because its a 3-way tie, so it then goes to rounds (which is tied), so the last resort is a rematch
2011-10-02 12:16
have you ever heard of nested rules??
2011-10-02 12:30
nuggi and snappi stats pls
2011-10-02 11:41

how can efuture go through? thats rubbish its a 3 way tie, even though fnatic has better round difference. they cant just throw fnatic out of the 3 way tie because of that, they never do that in 3 ways ties. Seriously. First you do a 3 way tie, then you check the round diff. which would make fnatic and anexis go through. this is what happens when an event is held in china, so biased
2011-10-02 11:51
ten years of online gaming and first time i see this rule getting fucked this way, just ridiculous
2011-10-02 11:53
This is the second time for me - first being MYM/mtw/x3o thing at ESWC 2008. That was stupid. And LITERALLY the same thing happened here. Except now it's going for the homefield rather then going away from it..... Also, i don't understand why they don't count the vs last place team game RD. IF they did Anexis doesn't just go through they win the group lol.
2011-10-02 11:56
last year at e-Stars there was a 2-way tie between redCode.kr and MYM.ru but MYM.ru won 17-13 against redCode yet redCode advanced because of rounds difference which has never happened before, terrible considering a team comes all the way from russia to unrightfully get eliminated because a korean team who is playing at a korean event must go through. this, on the other hand, is normal. if you ignore the results against immunity (which always happens in a 3-way-tie) then all 3 teams have won 1 match and lost 1 but fnatic has +4 and anexis and efuture both have -2. so they can either rematch or efuture advances because of head-to-head results
2011-10-02 12:05
what are you talking about? both eFuture and Anexis have -2 whereas fnatic has +4. In this situation only two things are possible, eFuture advances because of head-to-head result or a rematch for the 2nd place.
2011-10-02 12:00
He's talking overall round difference. You know the thing that is thrown out at the beginning of a 3 way tie(which i think is stupid but that's irrelevant).
2011-10-02 12:01
overall rounds difference never counts in a three-way-tie. only the rounds difference between the 3 teams which is +4 for fnatic and -2 for both efuture and anexis.
2011-10-02 12:06
yea, but 28-30 is a better score than 26-28, so anexis should go through, clearly.

the thing is im pretty you cant count head-to-head matches in a three way tie, when all teams beat each other. sayin fnatic goes through cuz of points, efuture cuz of head to head doesnt work. correct me if im wrong, but I am pretty sure that is how it works in football too, seeing as anexis won more rounds than efuture and they have the same round difference they should go through. you can't just have a three way tie and then only do it with 2 teams.

ESL's RULES SUCKS!
2011-10-02 12:01
This is plain wrong cartman. You do not drop counting fnatic due to them having a difference in roundscores. You are mixing up different set of rules here. Either you use the rule of best in rounds or you use the rule of head to head encounters.
2011-10-02 12:03
True they're mixing up and you contradicted your own comment with the your last sentense! They first apply the round difference rule by which fnatic > anexis=efuture...so now it settles two way tie between anexis and efuture...efuture 16: 12 anexis...ef go through, simple as that
2011-10-02 12:09
but Anexis do has a better score than efuture. 28-30 > 26-28 obv.

that is not how it works. u have to do choose what to do, you cant do both
2011-10-02 12:13
Not true. Because you don't drop counting fnatic. The rule is that in event of tie via points you go into a split between the tied teams. At least that is the normal way of doing it in sports. Here you dont drop counting a team because they have a better "score-difference", but count them as they were a part of a 3 way split where everyone beat everyone. Otherwise you just use the rule of head to head and count out fnatic from the beginning. This is (the decision from Cartman), in regular sports, a mix of rules.
2011-10-02 12:14
have you ever heard of nested rules?
2011-10-02 12:32
But why even bring that up, when nested rules aren't being used in other sports? I mean they didn't have the exact same amount of rounds, maybe their difference were the same, but the amount counts before you rule out fnatic. And the amounts, counting fnatic was: 28-30 Anexis 26-28 eFuture. Therefore Anexis have scored more rounds and therefore they should be through. However, if the rules of ESL clearly states, that you need to not count the third team in a threeway tie, then hey, no problem. I just don't think they specify that.
2011-10-02 12:41
Since it's CS not football I don't like the rule 28-30 > 26-28....imo the most fair thing would be a rematch between anexis and efuture, but people have to learn to play by the rules no matter how dumb they sometimes may be
2011-10-02 12:44
head to head is equal, but anexis have better score!
2011-10-02 12:05
Stop blaming ESL, just look at the rules of Europe Football tournaments. Absolutely the same!
2011-10-02 12:06
no its not, if it was an European Football tournament, Anexis would go through bcs of more rounds/goals. :)
2011-10-02 12:15
No its not. They do Goals (rounds) gained. And after that away-goals gained before any head-to-head action.
2011-10-02 12:21
There are so many ways to do tie-breakers... 1st level : watching overall RD or only with the 3 (in this case) teams. 2nd level : if 2 teams have the same RD, you can either 1) watch who beated the other one 2) do a rematch 3) watch who won more rounds... They're all acceptable while you know it before the match ^^ But tbh i favor the 1st option.

So now acording to carmac a 3way tie becomes a 2way tie for the bottom 2... MAKE SENSE PLEASE!?
2011-10-02 12:11
The best part is that even carn is like "i guess we won the group" in his FB update.
2011-10-02 12:14
so ESL's rules decided that the greatest rated team that has beaten the top team in the group is eliminated?
2011-10-02 12:12
THIS IS THE CORRECT RULING, EFUTURE BEAT ANEXIS HEAH-TO-HEAD, STOP BITCHING NOOBITOS how much noob can you get to not understand, a 3 way tie in point, but fnatic better roundifference, anexis and eFuture same difference, but head-to-head eFuture beat anexis. This is very easy to grasp if you use your brain for a few seconds only, go ahead... then come back and realize it. Or go take a walk, or nap or a shower if you dont get it still.
