Give him a break guys. He is human, like everybody else. Not a voodoo master that can control the outcome of the games. If you think he's not right do not read his posts. Hating him does no good (too him and you as well).
I'm sorry that this happened but this was NOT our fault. We were told specifically that inferno will be played at 22 and season at 23.
Then before the match admin decided to let teams chose which map they want to play first, and there's nothing we could have done about that.
gg, if it wasn't for the statrak ak redline i unboxed yesterday I would be a very angry man.
EDIT: This is not HLTV's fault tbh, I'm sure they just portrayed the information they received.
CSGOLounge NEEDS to display the map.
I guess I have to draw it out:
(1 day before the match) HLTV.org receives info from ESEA - first map inferno, second map season.
(2 mins before the match) ESEA admin asks teams which map they want to play first. They say season. Obviously they don't think about bets. It's a mistake.
(match start) HLTV.org notices the maps are in different order and we change it on our match pages.
(now) You and many others are blaming HLTV.org by jumping to conclusions.
I'm sorry you all lost money, and of course it happens that we sometimes screw up too, but there was nothing we could have done in this situation. I'm sure it will never happen again now that everyone will be aware of the consequences.
yes I completely understand only ESEA is to blame for it. horrible call admins! I'm sorry that ESEA admin must really have cognitive issues to not think of the consequences of playing a nonsense map first when people bet on a competitive map to be played.
Nop even CSGO LOUNGE did a shit job, they should have cancelled the bets on that match and retrieve the weapons to owners.
"If tournament admins announce about match format changes the bet will be closed and all items will be returned to their owners."
We spend real money on skins, money that is not easy to win in real life. I can not afford the luxury of spending € 300 on knives but I can spend 10 € on some skins that I like. A lot of people use this betting system to win more skins which generates more money. I bet on fnatic in inferno map and two minutes later I was betting on the season map? WTF????? Lot of people lost their skins for a whim to get a map first than the other. Okay, it was a mistake and will never happen again, fine. But what about our money? And those who dont have to spend another 10 €? Very bad. The proof is in the result of the inferno map, 16-5 to fnatic. Victory for fnatic, troll for us. Ty so much ESEA Admin!
BTW: imgur.com/gqvqbiH Its like 20€. I can't compare with other who have spent like 100€ or more but it is still money lost.
By the way, can you guys stop blaming ESEA, CSGOLounge and HLTV. They have not done anything wrong, information is passed along sideways. Hence, gambling is not part of the game but is a part of your greed. I actually wanted to bet $40 worth on items on Wz vs Fnatic (thought would be inferno) but the bet expires, so I go on the 2nd game (which supposed to be season but inferno) and bet on Fnatic. Guess must be my lucky day :>
ESEA is to blame. They need to consider the context of their decisions. Failure to consider that changing the map victimized 12,000 people was a huge insult to the community. Gambling is the only thing making this community huge - things like this will cause people to stop betting - and CS to wither.
They need a lot of criticism for this so that it won't happen again.
ESEA is not responsible for the people placing bets, they have got nothing to do with CSGOLounge. The people whining are really just mad that they lost their bets, but that is the nature of gambling, anything can happen.
The scene would continue to flourish even without betting, it was doing fine before CSGOLounge came along. I seem to remember a little game called 1.6 in which there was not a major gambling element and I'm fairly sure the community for that game was quite big.
1.6 had a moderately large community - but sponsors don't really care about that
they care about viewers
viewers need motivation to turn on the stream
that motivation comes from betting
if nonsense like this happens often, people will stop betting and hence lose the motivation to watch streams
once the motivation is gone, streams will have serious trouble finding viewers
CSGO becomes no longer viable for commentators/casters to earn income
sponsors recognize the viewership decreased
sponsors decide not to invest into CSGO
very few tournaments occur, for virtually no money
players forced to make income doing other things which takes focus off their gaming
given that they know that changing the order of maps would victimize thousands of people, for them to allow it to happen is a major insult for the viewership of counter-strike, which is the only reason why everything I said above is not currently happening.
why should we not be interested in preventing this in the future?
if you can't see more than what's in front of you please shh.
it's no surprise that the major reason the viewerbase of CS increased is because of betting
this is no surprise
who cares? as long as it makes CS able to have bigger/better tournies and the players are more dedicated than ever, go for it...
i think its best comparing "its like if Federer was playing Nadal back in the day and you had a bet on Federer. And just as they were going to start the umpire goes; "So Rafa, you wanna play on clay instead?" by DANIELs4e
