Scum org and scum league. I really doubt WF would have dropped their team if they didn't know already they would get to keep the EPL spot.

Fuck WF shit org that took an EPL spot from NA players that earned it. Fuck ESL and fuck WF.
2016-08-26 04:01
TBH its not like the ex-WF lineup could've done better lol
2016-08-26 04:05
I'm not saying they would have done well. They weren't a great team even by NA standards, but they earned that spot back before they were WF or ever Luminosity and WF dumped the entire team after the season had officially started AFAIK. The spot should have stayed with the players since the org is basically just fucking them over and setting precedent that ORGs can buy spots in EPL. I can guarantee you in the future orgs are going to be picking up and dumping teams just for their EPL spots especially with teams that are moving up from premier.

its not really stolen tbh, the spot should stay with the org its like if a epl team lets say Manchester united traded every single player they had and got in a whole fresh team they would still be in the epl. they keep there spot that the org held from the previous season. thats why there is relegations. if there not good enough they will come last and get dropped down a league.
2016-08-26 08:57
No it should not be that way. Most players work their way in to pro league on unsponsored teams. In the case of winterfox they originally got their spot as team mythic which is not an actual org and then got picked up by the LG org then WF. A good example this year is Ze Pug Gods who are now eunited. That spot in the pro league was earned by players working their way up from open league, but since they signed with some random org it now belongs to that org.

by your logic players could just leave any org they wanted at any time. thats not how sports work. if the ex-winterfox team is good enough they will be there next season or the season after. esl and other orgs hosting leagues are trying to make it more professional and giving all the power to the players isn't the right way to go. really there needs to be a "off-season" where all trades and org swaps happen or this will keep happening, as for winterfox they did what they thought was best for there org just like all sports teams. they clearly think this australian team is better then there old NA team so they picked them up instead. everything seems to have been done by esl's rules
2016-08-28 05:48
For one thing they did break the rules because the season had officially started when they swapped teams and only 4 player changes are allowed per season. They hadn't played, but the season had still started. Next players cannot just leave an org because they have contracts. This is also why sports players cannot just switch teams. Third you obviously don't know anything about the previous rules or the rules for the lower leagues it is impossible to get to pro league in one season and I believe takes a minimum of 3 seasons as teams have to start in open. Also even for very good teams it can be quite random. If you lose one of like 5 bo1s in the open playoffs you just wasted an entire season. Anyway I think you need a season of open and you can move up to main, a season of main to get to premier, and a season of premier to get to pro. Staying in pro league is actually easier than getting there. On top of that there is not really any reason to consider the new wfx better than the old. It is pretty much a lateral move, but they are most likely trying to pick up AU fans since they didn't have a strong fan base to begin with. This probably won't give significantly better results just more fans.

1.if you watched thorins video he explains esl's rules and how the org basically owns the slot and i thought the players were dumped by the team before the season but the org just hadn't picked up a new team yet and ex-wfx was orgless at the time. 2.in sports players under contract can still be de-listed or traded 3.renegades (although they are a much better team then wfx) never had to work there way up from the bottem. its case by case as esl has said. 4. i dont think the new wfx team on paper is that much better then the old team although after watching a few games they do look like a much better team imo and i dont doubt that wfx are just trying to get fans im not actually a fan of them myself. as stated in thorins vid esl look at org swaps and if the orgs new team is equal to or better then the old team then the slot stays with the org. like godsent/fnatic esl though the fnatic team was about the same strength as the godsent team so fnatic the org kept the spot.
2016-08-29 20:57
Thorin isn't the end all authority and also he said this is intended to both prevent players from abusing orgs and orgs from abusing players. This is clearly a case of an org abusing its players. It is also significantly different than any of the previous changes. My point about contracts was just to show the fact that players can't just do whatever they want and ditch their orgs while currently orgs can just dump their players and fuck them over. Renegades was put in through the wildcard rule which is an entirely different situation. They didn't really steal another teams spot unless you count a premier team not being moved up. For example immortals is a better team than either WFX or Renegades and took 3 seasons to make it to pro I'm pretty sure. They were in main 2 seasons ago and I'm fairly certain they were in open before that. They may have done open in brazil or something which is technically against the rules since teams are supposed to start over in open when switching regions, but no matter what they took at least 2 seasons and a new team would have to start in open making it take 3 seasons. Also Fnatic kept 2 or 3 of their players depending on how you look at it. Thorin even said they probably kept Wenton to strengthen their argument of keeping the spot and will most likely drop him later. According to the rules from premier and below Fnatic technically kept 3 of their players. Technically Fnatic could have just switched those players once the season started and been fine and still had room for more roster changes. If people are going to just think this is an okay thing this scene is going to shit in under a year.

Pimp kind of threw that 3v1 in that 5th round, trying to trade a frag he wasn't in position to trade rather than just playing the defuse with JDM.
