POPPERS duo Nikolaj "EXR" Therkildsen and Danny "BERRY" Krüger are currently playing with other Danish players in a new team.
POPPERS donned Xapso's colours at HKLAN last weekend, returning home empty-handed as they finished in a disappointing 17th-24th place at the LAN event's CS:GO tournament after placing 4th at the Gaming.dk League finals.
After the event, both Therkildsen and Krüger decided to leave POPPERS and seek pastures new, linking up with former CPLAY leader Allan "Rejin" Petersen, who played for logiX as a stand-in at HKLAN.
The rest of the team is made up of Kevin "KSkevin" Svenningsen, who was also formerly in CPLAY, and former 3DMAX member Kristian "tabaco" Simonsen.
HLTV.org contacted Morten "zeeth" Ottosen for a reaction to the news, and the former Spirit of Amiga talent confirmed the end of POPPERS, who boasted three former members of Anexis' highly-successful 1.6 squad.
"After a very dissapointing HK lan, EXR and BERRY told us that they wanted to try and play with three other Danes," Ottosen told HLTV.org.
"That left us with SFM, Snappi and myself. I think it was a shame, since it was our first LAN event in CS:GO, and we did not have the best of preparations for the event, like we would have before Copenhagen Games, if we had stayed together.
"I guess the team spirit was too low after HKLAN, so I guess in a few days we will officially shut down.
"I have no idea what will happen after that, hopefully we will see all five of us at Copenhagen Games, if not together, then in various teams/mix teams.
"I will not let this disappointment stop me."
In an interview with Xplayn.com, Svenningsen stressed that the project is not yet official as the players are still testing the waters to see if the team can make their mark on the Danish scene.
The team's roster looks as follows:
Nikolaj "EXR" Therkildsen
Danny "BERRY" Krüger
Allan "Rejin" Petersen
Kevin "KSkevin" Svenningsen
Kristian "tabaco" Simonsen
