Cph Games invites revealed

The Copenhagen Games organisers have revealed the names of the 16 teams who have been invited to play in the main CS:GO tournament.

As we quickly approach the busiest month since CS:GO was released, all eyes are on Copenhages Games, whose 32-team tournament will give out a whopping €33,000, the second-highest prize purse since the game hit the shelves.

Over the last weeks, teams from across the globe have signed up for the tournament, and out of all the applicants, the event organisation has picked the 16 strongest sides, who have been granted direct entry into the main competition.

The teams who were left out will have to play the qualifier, which will take place one day before the main competition, to fight for one of the remaining 16 places.

Copenhagen Games invites:

Germany mousesports Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas
Ukraine Natus Vincere Russia Nostalgie
United States Curse Russia Virtus.pro
France VeryGames Germany n!faculty
Denmark unu.AiN Denmark Copenhagen Wolves
United Kingdom Anexis Europe fm-eSports TOXiC
Denmark fnatic Slovakia 3DMAX
Finland Curse Germany Team ALTERNATE

The biggest surprises on the list come in the form of the omissions of ESC Gaming and Quantic Gaming. It is believed that these two teams did not apply for an invite, which every team had to do in order to be taken under consideration.

Some of the most prominent sides who have signed up and will have to play the qualifier are:

Sweden Absolute Legends Norway BX3
Sweden Epsilon Poland ESC Gaming
Denmark EYES ON U France Imaginary Gaming
Spain Karont3 Sweden Lemondogs
Germany logiX Denmark ex-logiX
Netherlands LowLandLions Poland MaxFloPlay
United States Quantic Gaming United Kingdom Reason Gaming
Denmark Server-Forge Norway temp.no

Stay tuned to HLTV.org for full coverage of Copenhagen Games, starting with the qualifier, which will take place on March 28th, one day before the main CS:GO tournament starts.

lol @ esc not qualifying
2013-03-11 23:13
Seeing as how they're starting a bootcamp today in preparation for Techlabs, I am absolutely positive that they're going to come into the qualifying round on form. Sad that they either were too lazy to apply or got confused by the typical Danish/European bureaucratic hurdles xD

Firstly: The aren't Secondly: Why did you reply that to a Swede? Waow, casual nobraining spotted
2013-03-12 05:46
He's replying that to a Swede because his point is that unu.AiN is the worst team on invited list and that ESC is quite alot better than them. Please use your brains
2013-03-12 07:25
Are you kidding me? hahahaha :D The're the third best team in europe atm.
2013-03-12 21:38
You do realize that unu.AIN are ex-Anexis right ? Finished second at Mad Catz ? Where a lot of those invite teams were attending ? They are surely not the worst team on the invite list :).
2013-03-12 23:27
Did not know that when I posted the comment so I'll take that back, doesn't change the fact that jopaB meant the same when replying to the Swede though

Quantic Gaming :: 12 324 € - 1er 1 430 € ESEA XI Open - 1er 100 € Curse KoTH - 3ème 3 084 € ESWC 2012 - 1er 7 710 € ESEAi 12 ) <- from vakarm's CSGO earnings

It's because they Didnt Apply for invite like everyone else did. Even though, they got told to do so.
2013-03-11 23:14
your logic has no place here!
2013-03-11 23:16
sounds like retarded bureaucracy
2013-03-11 23:18
Why? At CPH Games they want clarity if teams will attend or not. In order to know if they will, the teams will have to apply. it's not stupid or bureaucracy. Inviting a team that won't be coming doesn't make any sense, though. Also will they have to look for a replacement then. Which is unnecessary work.
2013-03-11 23:26
they are signed up and mostly backed by big orgs. nothing suggests that they won't attend.
2013-03-11 23:33
there cant be any favored teams,if they wanted to get an invite they should had applied for it,simple
2013-03-12 07:15
Nothing suggests they won't attend, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't follow the simple rules. It's very possible that a team won't be able to attend due to certain circumstances. Therefore, teams will have to give the LAN notice of their attendance. Also, applying doesn't take much time, so why wouldn't a team apply?

Quantic Gaming and esc should get a Invite.
2013-03-11 23:16
they do not applicate for a invite.
2013-03-11 23:31
Epsilon > Nostalgie ESC Gaming > Copenhagen Wolves Imaginary Gaming > fm-eSports TOXiC Lemondogs > Team ALTERNATE THESE 4 team must be into the Invitational
2013-03-11 23:16
Again, they never applied for an invite.
2013-03-11 23:16
then they should probably apply for an invite, they'll all get into the main tournament anyway so who gives a shit

Sorry but that's just retarded. ESC can beat like EVERY team of the invite teams while some of them can't even beat like 5. Curse.eu hasn't shown anything. N!faculty is basically super low on lan, mouz hasn't even shown anything online. uni.Ain is pretty much a new team without ANY matches. Give at least both american teams an invite plus ESC. Ridiculous. edit: please ESC play the qualifier and make it to the finals to let the organisers look stupid.
2013-03-11 23:20
And again, they didn't apply that's why.

2013-03-11 23:40
Im suprised it haven't become obvious for you yet, The teams you all mention, never applied for an invite, even when being told.
2013-03-12 01:40
international wise they are pretty much equal
2013-03-12 07:18
The qualifiers are, in my opinion, too close to the actual event. I think it would be better if they had a week longer to arrange transport and what not.
2013-03-11 23:29
You want north american teams to fly around the globe a week before an event to qualify.. then what if they do qualify... fly home and fly back? pay for lodging to wait for a week? ...
2013-03-12 00:57
I actually forgot about Americans. +}
2013-03-19 18:04

Why would you need to apply for an invite separately from actually signing up to the event? That's ludicrous..
2013-03-11 23:41
Everyone else knew how to do it, it's not really that hard :-)
2013-03-12 00:16
I'm not saying it's difficult, seems like a silly thing. Don't understand the point in having to first sign up and then apply for an invite, you could see why teams would find it confusing or forget to do it. Surely the people handing out the invites should have some clue about the scene and teams deemed worthy of one?

Actually.. We do. We have also made so many of these events, that we know, that it doesnt mean a team will show up, even though they have signed up, and promised to pay.. Now they have to signup and pay, to be in consideration for an invite. ITs very easy, and saves alot of re-re-re-re-reseeding

2013-03-12 08:00
Care to shed some light on what Quantic Gaming said further up in this thread about applying through a support ticket? Was this an error on their part or yours?
2013-03-12 01:29
I will answer you, but could have taken one of the others that do not understand this....... The reason why they have to send and application is because they have to be sure the team will attend. Also the teams beside the application was told to have done the payment, which could also be the problem, with the old 1.6 organisations being out late with the payment as ussual. With this game still being new, you need to be 100% sure that the seeded teams will attend or you have to changes it all. This is the biggest tournament so far in GO, atm 65 teams have signup, so I think it is fair, that they have to apply for an invite. It also makes it a bit more serious. This will also give some extra attention for the qualifiers, which is nice, then we can get one more day with great matches. But then again it is more funny to write : fuck you cph games, you suck, this event suck because my favorite team is to good to write and application. Hope this event will fail, so that you just wasted 1 years preperation and doing this for no salary.....
2013-03-12 01:40
Might be confusing, but when being contacted and told, and still doing nothing about it, i can't see it to be any of the organizers faults.

Anyhow, it's the biggest tournament in CS:GO to date, what's you point bruh? You mad?
2013-03-12 06:41
It's funny you just throw stuff out you have no idea of. Yes, there will be seedings - look what LV wrote, but i guess, roumers and false information is what gets you off.
2013-03-12 01:44
Defensiiiiiveeeeeee
2013-03-12 03:34
i love u weber,play more 1.6!
2013-03-12 07:20
We asked a guy from cph who said he will ask admins for us and they replied it will be random, that was yesterday so yeah, guess I'm just throwing stuff out.

I would advise you to ask the right people then, cause in cases like Copenhagen Games, theres soooo much information to keep track of, so stuff easily get mixup up. I am in charge of making the tournaments, and i say, that we will make seedings for the qualification tournament, as stated above.
2013-03-12 11:12
I would have asked you if I had you on skype but I don't :p I only had someone else from cph so I asked him and I thought he would have known guess not, I know there will be seedings now thanks.

2013-03-12 03:56
pretty much every team gets an invite if they apply and pay all the costs lol,why wouldnt they accept
2013-03-12 07:21
I think you forgot Mine Turtles as one of the most prominent sides to sign up and play the quali
2013-03-12 00:22
agreed.
2013-03-12 00:55
thank god fnatic is in there. can't wait
2013-03-12 00:29
some bad picks gl fnatic!
2013-03-12 00:33
With all the qualification thing I remember Fallen&co failing to qualify in the first round against a sweden team (last international tournament for them if i remember well) . Hope won't happen for esc , img , al or lemondogs .
2013-03-12 00:34
interesting! would be a bit disapointed if a topteam dont manage to go trough groupstages, hope there will be seeds for the qualifer tournament. cant wait
2013-03-12 00:38
Instead of writing, why dont u show up ;)
2013-03-12 01:01
im gonna try and stick with the bright side and say at least quali's will be interesting but I swear if ESC, quantic and IMG get lined up in the same group im going to get angry on the internet
2013-03-12 01:10
#139 says it will be seeded to prevent that something like that happens ;)
2013-03-12 01:25
ah ok! I thought I read all the posts, thanks :P
2013-03-12 01:37

This shit! Quantic, iMg, ESC? Dafuq! Or maybe just make it 2 AMERICAN TEAM because they come from the west side. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
2013-03-12 02:19
so how many teams from the qualifier can advance?
2013-03-12 02:38
16
2013-03-12 03:02
I suppose it is run as last year. in the qualifier they will seed 16 teams. They are then split into 16 groups. with 1 seeded team in each group and the rest will be random. They play groupstage with the matches being bo1. Then the winner of each group will meet nummer 2 from another group. The winner of this match will then qualify for the main tournament. The decider in the qualifier (first in group vs second in another group) will be played in a bo3. This was how it was done last year in source. Hope it brings abit of light into how its done.
2013-03-12 03:12
What is Nostalgie doing there? lol invite zNation!
2013-03-12 04:22
if znation isnt there is because they cant go

Don't tell me curse.eu , fmtoxic, mpuz, alternate, n!, nostalgie, wolves will be getting higher seed than ESC and Quantic (they'll qualify ofcourse).:(( Shit format!
2013-03-12 06:29
And now the bitch-est thing cph organisers can do is, putting esc and quantic against each other in a bo1 in ro32. Lol, shit happens.

Cause a big event like this should have the best team/teams from as many countries as possible, and the norwegian scene seems to be more active Than in years, i dont understand that Germany has 3 teams invites, and poland and norway etc dont have 1 to represent em.

Why isn't Quantic Gaming invited????????????????
2013-03-12 08:13

2013-03-12 08:35
Quantic and ESC deserve it more
2013-03-12 08:50

Quantic and esc didnt apply for an invite cph games ppl said. You guys need to fucking read the article before you comment
2013-03-12 09:27
Sick list. You could can call this tournament WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, if you look at the participants list.
2013-03-12 10:57
ye, Asia and South-America belong to the moon.
2013-03-12 10:59
Asia (or at least TyLoo) turned to CSGO like few~ weeks ago. Same goes for FalleN's team. So i would they currently are bad as NaVi were at the beginning. So the only missing team from here would be that ProGaming, who wasn't that good in last events.
2013-03-12 11:08
You never know. The Asians are always very hard to predict. The former TyLoo players were all aim-monsters and it wouldn't have surprised me if they would have been extremely strong in CS:GO from the start (unfortunately the 3 best players retired and I dunno about the new ones). Also Asian teams like the old WMF have proven that hey practice extremely hard (like 24/7). In other words: It wouldn't surprise me if they would already beat most European teams.
2013-03-12 11:12
Xizt, fifflaren, Friberg, GeT_RiGhT and f0rest.
2013-03-12 11:00
I'm really not a fan of zNation, but some HLTV news writer should mention them in the list of "most prominent sides who have signed up and will have to play the qualifier" after what they've achieved in SLTV StarSeries. Btw: Where is LDLC?
2013-03-12 11:07
So it appears ESC and Quantic APPLIED, and CPH games managed to "LOSE" their applys. "They told Quantic that THEY lost Quantic's application, but will make it up by giving them beer and food." serious quote. Are you kidding me? I actually believed CPH was one of the very few serious tournaments. gg's

Could the news editor put it in bold at the very top about that teams have to apply for the invite. Seeing as no one who commented, and they where about a hundred saying "OMG WHY NO QUANTIC AND ESC OMG PASZA STRONK, DAZED STRONK. FMTOXIC WRONK" For the love of god people, read the news. Then comment.

That still isn't stated in the NEWS ARTICLE Unless it has been added. We can't even know if Quantic are telling the truth or just trying to save some face. Either way people on here comment on the news written. Sure ESC and Quantic will say they applied for the invite. Then it's just a question if people believe them or CPH Games organizers
2013-03-12 13:22
They did apply for an invite.
2013-03-12 20:18
This is so stuped. First quantic is on top at ESEA NA, and they invited Curse instead of them:) Second Lemondogs won 3rd place at Dreamhack, while FM.Toxic havent achieved absolutely nothing, and they have never been in second stage of the one tournament. 3rd We all saw that n!faculty suck on lan, they get invite instead of GoldenFive who have more experience, and what to prove. And if they havent sent invite, you should invite them.. :)) Bytheway some of the teams gets invite because of last tournaments (CS1.6, CS:S), and they have some relationships :))
2013-03-12 12:46
There are a few teams that deserve the invite more than others, but you have to remember there were criterias for the invite (see below) and I suppose that every team did not fulfill them * Has signed up for the event * Has paid for the event * Has made an adequate apply for an invite
2013-03-12 13:07
@All those saying Quantic Gaming didn't apply for an invite, PLEASE READ #47 and #239 FOR FUCK SAKE. CPH Organisers are at fault in the case of Quantic. Period.

So sad for Quantic, coming from far away and a real hard way to get into the main tournament. Good luck to them, hopefully they win it! Is there any chance they can invite like 4 teams more? Atleast ESC, Quantic and imG deserve an invite.
2013-03-12 17:37
I am looking forward to this
2013-03-12 22:43
Too bad that k1ck aren't... They aren't as bad as many people still think, and even though things didn't went well vs fnatic, there are matches and matches, and vs fnatic, k1ck didn't show what they are capable of.
