Hyper banned in ESL for cheating

MaxFloPlay member Bartosz "Hyper" Wolny has been handed a two-year ban from all ESL competitions after it was discovered that he cheated in a 2on2 ladder game.

The match in question was played on January 10th, with Wolny's team, called BUKLAKI, defeating Multiple Scoregasms 16-7 on de_dust2_se.

After the contest, Multiple Scoregasms filed a protest, and two months later the ESL has banned Wolny after reviewing the demos provided by the players.

According to cybersport.pl, the decision to ban the MaxFloPlay talent was unanimous by the ESL's anti-cheat team.

The decision will come as a heavy blow to MaxFloPlay, who finished runners-up to ESC Gaming in the last EPS season, whose LAN finals took place in February.

While the ESL has remained silent on whether there will be a new EPS season in Poland, Wolny's ban means that he will not be able to play for his team in the three EMS One seasons that will take place until the end of the year.

The news comes on the say day as the ESL announced that iPLAY and CPLAY were disqualified from EPS Germany after it was discovered that both teams had cheated in the league.

I agree bro.. ClanBase banned coloN when he wasnt hacking. Unless something is actually found by their anti-cheat its hard to say someone is hacking 100% if it isnt blatant. ESL seem like a big company so I doubt they would have inexperienced staff but smaller orags like the 4PL orwhatever the German org is that banned DaY.. I dont trust them.

The whole snd_restart thing was a huge shamble, sure it gives you an unfair advantage but it wasnt against ESL rules to use it. So what happened was that ESL changes the rules and disallows snd_restart and bans everyone who had been using it prior to the rule change according to wire logs. Which is enforcing rules retroactively and definitely not fair for the players..

never, played since 2000... Also I'd like to add that at that time you played more in the netcafes and lan. I think people who start like that are less prone to cheating, cos you kinda learn to get your ass handed to you by the people in the room, and you don't get that reflex to call someone a cheater right away, so when we started playing online, it was quite normal for us to get our asses kicked and just try to improve. Today it's quite different.

the ban to nes(iplay) and maybe constarr(cplay) is ok, but i really dont think that hyper cheated and this is a huge mistake by the esl (didnt watched the demo though) the esl failed at the eps relegation for the acutal eps season even more.. one team was disqualified for cheating (timetable) and after the relegation was over, the player was unbanned because he wrote an anti-timetable

I don't think that they ban with "I feel like" style. They are actually using time watching the demos and I think it's pretty easy to catch a cheater that way. Even thought cheaters tries to hide it, it's very easy to notice if you have any brains.

Pretty sure he didn't cheat. There are many points which help his case. 1) Played in MFP for ages and on several local and international LANs 2) With his team, is able to win money by performing in cups and therefore wouldn't want to risk being banned by cheating in a 2v2 or in a pug 3) ESL seems to have acted panicky as they have banned several people without definite proof and with AC decisions. 4) As no EPS players (even those would be too bad) and no international top-players make up the AC-Team I highly doubt that the AC-Team has the gamesense and skill to actually rate a demo fairly. Obviously, in some cases you turn on the demo and instantly see the trigger bot locking in on the head but I am pretty sure that Hyper's demo was not like that.

if they banned players for cheating in baseball (and other sports) for life if caught, then cheating wouldn't really be an issue. poor pete rose banned for life, stuck watching bonds and the like continue to cheat, after the fact. cheaters should be socked in the face imo. good ol' fashion pain would put an end to all that real quick.

Except that`s theyr job and they`re doing this work seriously, unlike we, random people, writting vague comments in hltv.org. There is always something more to something and there are always special cases. And cheating is a special case. No matter what kind of reputation pro players have, fact remains that this World is bigger than just what we can see, so it`s naive to think that in this entire world there is not a single professional player who would dare to cheat.

Would log-files really be a solid prove? A prove of what? A proof that the ESL has not acted arbitrarily? Or that wire found "something" c'mon that's ridiculous. Even if they release wire logs, insane conspiracy theories would come up claiming that they have been counterfeit. Besides wire can also make mistakes. But ESL have to test and trust it. Otherwise it is impossible to manage. I think the community(mostly 14-19 years old kids) just want to take part in the whole discussion. They want something they understand like pics or videos, what is simply too naive. Just imagine that the ESL would publish their complete wire source code with the log files from hyper and co, so that everyone can simulate the facts. That would be a 100% proof but no one would understand and esl would have lost around € 500.000

gj, its really annoying when people say this player is lan proven or they are well known or have been around ages. this is a new game some may struggle to adapt then resort to cheats, some may simply just cheat online so they dont have to bother with practicing alot of aim/dm etc and then on a run up to lan might just do that extra practice on aiming so they can go to lan and still perform ok alot of it is lazyness to not put in the time, some of it is to get a name for themselves and to get in with some bigger players where they will improve faster when not cheating. everyone talking about DaY not cheating but what about moby? i dont see anyone sticking up for him or the other players, even temp.no themselves i didnt see sticking up for moby.. its all bullshit i dont think any anti-cheat team should have to reveal how they catch cheaters, it just means they will have to spend more money on fixing the anti-cheat when the hackers update the cheats to work around the flaws where cheaters are caught.

i can't understand, why so many of you blaming the leagues, because they ban cheaters. of course it's not nice, if you cannot check their decisions in such ac-teams, but these leagues have no reason to ban players without any proof. Just because he LAN. doesn't mean he would not cheat online, hes a pro player, he will use any advantage, why give 100% focus online when you can load a cheat and relax a bit? Not saying he did or didn't, but there is good reason for a pro player to cheat, and ESL won't ban for fun.
