NiP see off Virtus.pro to win TECHLABS

MIRAA
March 23rd, 2013 18:36

Ninjas in Pyjamas came out on top of TECHLABS 2013 in Moscow with a 16-10 victory over Virtus.pro in the Grand Final.

Having come from the Upper Bracket, NiP had the advantage of needing just one map to win the tournament, while Virtus.pro, who had defeated ESC Gaming in the Consolidation Final, required two maps to get their hands on the $8,000 cheque.

It was the Swedish team who came ou the brighter, winning the pistol round, but some sloppy play from them almost cost them the second round before Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund won the decisive 1-on-1.

After NiP made it 3-0, Virtus.pro finally started gaining some ground, inspired by Sergey "Fox" Stolyarov, who was showing all his AWPing skills. The home side also opted for some aggressive moves with early pushes in some rounds, which caught NiP's players by surprise and put the Russia-based team up 7-3.

The Swedes then finally managed to recover but they were still getting picked off early in the rounds. In the 12th round, NiP found themselves in a 2-on-4 situation, but still managed to come out on top, with Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg taking down three players after being left alone. The next round followed the same trend, but this time around it was Adam "friberg" Friberg to get three kills.

Fox picked up some impressive AWP frags during the final

NiP eventually managed to take the score to 8-7 in their favour, but they knew that things would not be easy for them as they would have to play on the CT side now. Alesund came out strongly in the pistol round, getting a triple kill which paved the way for his team to win the round.

After the second round also went NiP's way, Virtus.pro decided to buy, but their rush onto the A site from catwalk was stopped by Richard "Xizt" Landström and Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson.

NiP kept picking up round after round as Virtus.pro looked a bit off the pace after the break, and in the end the Swedish team ran out 16-10 victors to clinch the TECHLABS trophy.

I'd say ange1 was just as good an IGL this event, and VP have a better awper :P how long before navi esc fnatic mTw or VP dethrone NiP?! it will happen :P but yeah NiP is well on their way to becoming the best GO team of all time x]
2013-03-23 18:41
mTw? Aren't they bankrupt?
2013-03-23 18:46
oh sorry I meant former mTw UK team, now anexis :P
2013-03-23 18:54
Have Anexis ever played for mTw? I really don't recall RE1EASE, MX or Rattlesnk playing for mTw. Only weber has, as far as i know.

I mix up mTw ant mouz sometimes xD
2013-03-23 20:39
Mouz was a lot better than mTw though =)
2013-03-24 01:04
Depends which team ;p 08 mTw was as Sick as the best ever mouz (08 aswell probably, before antonio passed away )
2013-03-24 11:49
Thats the former mousesports team who will dethrone NiP at CPH next week. SAUCERS>>>
2013-03-23 19:06
You mean the team who lost a Map at a local lan too a team called Alcohol and Bitches? No, they will not dethrone NiP.
2013-03-23 21:06
they most definitely will
2013-03-23 22:08
mTw?? you mean VG? i think VG have the same chance as all those other teams if they prepare enough

can't see how I'm related to ScreaM who's a morrocan/belgian. He's playing in verygames but why would I care, they are a succesfull team even without my support. And tbh ScreaM is really the best aimer ever.
2013-03-23 19:13
Ever? that might be a bit of a stretch, though I've never paid much attention to source I think there is a few 1.6'ers who would have something to say there, Trace, Moddii, f0rest, GeT-RighT, Edward, Zet, Markeloff etc.
2013-03-23 20:24
I'm from 1.6, rarely played source but I'm talking about csgo now.
2013-03-23 20:33
Easy to say after you've edited your post... before the edit you claimed scream to the be the best ever. *EDIT* Sorry didn't read it thoroughly through, you didn't actually edit out the ever, so you're still claiming that he is the best ever.
2013-03-24 14:36
best aimer in csgo yes
2013-03-24 14:57
You did never point that out, you wrote ever, which you wouldn't really do for a game that is about 6 months old, thus the logical deduction would be that you're talking CS history, which I do believe you actually started out writing, though I can't remember.
2013-03-24 15:39
I didn't point that out because it seemed clear to me that everyone discovered how good his aim is on csgo, even though he was incredible in source too.
2013-03-24 16:19
It is not clear at all when you write "best aimer ever", you're clearly pointing to the history of cs, nothing else would make sense. What you meant in you're head doesn't really matter because that was not the way it came across.
2013-03-24 16:45
Maybe you're the only one who undertood it that way, maybe not, doesn't really matter as you now know I was talking about csgo :)

Not necessarily pushing, but they gave away a lot of rounds due to stupid mistakes. They could've taken this home easy if they had just kept their heads straight.

2013-03-23 18:39
very entertaining match forest's clutch is what probably turned the game around
2013-03-23 18:39
agreed. Even though that clutch was well played, it was a huge mistake by VP not checking that corner properly. (The first CT tried to clear it but turned away too early and ran past)
2013-03-23 18:49
NiP knows how to capitalize on the other team's mistakes like no other team.

Fifflaren might not the best AWPer in the world, but he doesn't deserve the shit he gets. He's often in the bottom of the scoreboard but not due to his lack of aim-skills. He often stays in the background and he's often the last guy standing due to positioning and that's pretty much the only reason for his low scores. He should pick up a rife more often.

they still win wihtout much tactical play compared to 1,6 .i mean their is not great team play but just rely on individuals skill and brain
2013-03-23 20:04
Yeah they dont have tactics, sure. You would know. Hey everybody we got an expert here!
2013-03-23 21:21
you re blind? or come from source? maybe you have never seen some counterstrike at high level then
2013-03-24 01:19
they are tactical they just execute fast and change the pace so teams can't use there flashes, or slow it down so teams use up all there flashes and can't defend a basic A take.. pritty much they run through the tactic so fast it doesnt loo like they work together when in fact fif smokes and xizt flashes them out.. they just get it done in the first 45 seconds of the round..
2013-03-25 00:52
he's right. tactical-wise CS:GO is extremely boring (compared to 1.6).

I dont understand why people get provoked. It is obvious the 1.6 players are dominating and really hard at it too. But it is only natural as the skill gap was higher in 1.6 than any later versions. I hope some newschoolers or saucers skill up and learn how to play vs nip, so boring if only ESC or NAVI can challenge nip.
