Anexis defeat Dignitas to win i48

March 24th, 2013 22:52

Anexis have defeated dignitas 16-6 on de_mirage_go in the grand final of Insomnia 48 to clinch the title of the best team in the United Kingdom and £2,000.

Insomnia 48 was the debut of Sam "RattlesnK" Gawn's team under the Anexis flag, and they did exactly what many expected of them, proving they are the best team in the UK.

Playing their first event together was also Joshua "steel" Nissan and George "hudzG" Hoskins' new Dignitas squad, who were able to edge out fm.TOXiC in the upper-bracket semi-final with a 2-0 victory.

Mx & co took home the i48 title

The now mostly Scandinavian fm.TOXiC, boasting the likes of André "BARBARR" Möller, were unable to impress at their first competitive LAN as they had to bow down against Dignitas in the lower bracket as well.

In the end it was Anexis who only dropped a map in the upper bracket semi-final versus Alcohol and Bitches en route to a convincing i48 win, which was sealed with a 16-6 scoreline versus Dignitas on de_mirage_go.

For me the results are pretty fair and justified, I don't know why ppl are saying that toxic failed, they could have gone for a top2 but finishing at the 3rd place is fine for them

CRG underrate
2013-03-25 01:09
Alcohol and Bitches are mostly made up of CRG members, right? Or were CRG dropped by Code Red and now they're playing as A&B?

2013-03-25 00:04
UK Scene needs to get bigger.
2013-03-25 00:07
Its already bigger than it was in 1.6. You guys should appreciate that
2013-03-25 00:14
It needs to be Germany/Sweden level big.
2013-03-25 00:31
That won't happen
2013-03-25 00:36
UK CSS was enormous at one point. Don't see why the same can't happen with CSGO.
2013-03-25 00:46
CSS + enormous not possible
2013-03-25 04:21
In the UK the source scene was huge, I can confirm.
2013-03-25 04:37
+1 We had some great teams
2013-03-25 11:15
we use to have 120teams attending lans in 2007-2008, uk scene use to be massive. Peak UK 1.6 was 16-32teams maximum attending a lan, CSS was always bigger (interms of competitive numbers) for LAN events, 90% of those were random community teams, doesn't look like we have the 'average' joe gamer or public servers/communities as much as we do anymore which is a big shame.
2013-03-25 15:06
in 2007-2008 we had 250+ teams playing in pgl. this doesn't count :)
2013-03-25 21:58
???? I said in the UK css was bigger than 1.6, how is your comment even logical to this?? No one asked about Rlolmania... l2READ
2013-03-25 22:49
i meant that size doesn't mean quality
2013-03-26 07:23
dude i said 90% of those are community teams... hence being awful at the game, why can't you read english.. I never mentioned about quality, only quality i mentioned was public teams who are not good at the game.. you really are special, read comments before posting
2013-03-26 09:59
and i told you that 120 teams insn't huge and doesn't mean anything
2013-03-26 22:45
Why reply when you don't understand what you are replying to?
2013-03-26 22:53
120 teams/clans at a LAN event (not online) is pretty huge... Even most CPL & BYOC events would reach 64-128teams in their prime I think Dreamhack reaches around 32-64teams for BYOC tournaments So around 120teams for a UK LAN tournament is pretty huge to say the least.. And like I said you're really retarded as you're not reading anything that is written at all - re-read the comments and understand them before posting and making yourself look like a tool
2013-03-27 10:10
we use to have 120teams attending lans in 2007-2008, uk scene use to be massive. 120 teams/clans at a LAN event (not online) is pretty huge... And like I said you're really retarded as you're not reading anything that is written at all - re-read the comments and understand them before posting and making yourself look like a tool The way you write english is really abiguous. So you had 120 teams that attended a a single lan? or 120 teams witch attended lans generally?
2013-03-28 13:56
per lan event we would have 80 to 120 Team PER event. One of the biggest easily, take a look at numbers from Multiplay's ( iSeries - i31/i32/i33/i34/i35 numbers for teams signed upto the CS:S tournament averaged from 80teams to 120teams per lan event. UK CSS was easily the biggest 'LAN' competitve scene in the era of 2007/08 - and that's someone who has played since 1.1/1.3 onwards, UK 1.6 lost so much sponsorship (ESWC/WCG/KODE5) and general team sponsorship, for some reason CS:S gained a ridiculous amount of UK based organisations with financial backing (at least 10-15 orgs in the UK offered backing) compared to UK 1.6 where we had 4Kings only.. and at one stage TeamAMDGamer and arguably AllTheRage
2013-03-28 14:58
CSS was bigger in Denmark aswell the last couple of years. Just because you don't appreciate the game doesn't make it small in certain countries.

2013-03-25 01:21
Good performance by Anexis. Dignitas did well in the matches against Toxic - with that little practice and experience as a team, winning against FM is quite nice. I still have my doubts about Anexis going into CPH finals - will be interesting how they will perform on LAN against fnatic, VG, ESC, NaVi or NIP...
2013-03-25 02:52
Just watched interview by Richard Lewis and he said RattleSnake is one of the most accomplished 1.6ers in UK history... can anyone tell me what he did in 1.6 to earn this title??
2013-03-25 03:40
Sweden dytt
Represented UK in the World Cyber Games and ESWC and have always played in one of the top teams in that region (dignitas). Check this clip from ESWC 2007: Played in the team Birmingham Salvo for the Championship Gaming Series, though I know that it was CS:S it's still worth mentioning. Just to mention some of it all.
2013-03-25 04:31
I see he make WCG in 2006.. wow I honestly didnt think UK CS was so low. Didnt 4Kings/infinity-ES ever win something besides local?
2013-03-25 04:38
4K never won a big international event - I believe their best was a 2nd place in one of the WEG's. They were always one of the best teams around, though but that was back in 2006. Rattlesnk was in the best UK CS team in 2006 when 4K no longer existed and people like aKuJi weren't playing anymore - they were never any decent abroad.
2013-03-25 05:30
Thanks man
2013-03-25 06:03
RattlesnK and Mx were apart of the dignitas 1.6 lineup with Mangiacapra and KritikaL and wez... they were mainly 1.6ers till CGS came up, and since 1.6 was on the decline in the UK they made the switch to greener pastures(CGS lawl)

"1. Anexis 2. Dignitas" OMG I can predict future.
2013-03-25 09:35

2013-03-26 00:44

2013-03-25 15:31
A new Anexis~
2013-03-25 15:40
All I'm gunna say about this event is 1 team goes through groups...?? we are in a group with Anexis. Loose to them, and smash 12 other teams 16-2 to win the intermediate tourny and don't get top 8. Needs much better organisation. However apart form the retarded format and seedings, it was well run.
2013-03-25 18:54
Ye you guys would have gotten top5 for sure
2013-03-25 23:25
you played 13 matches and lost only one?
2013-03-26 00:45
yes that is correct
2013-03-26 13:42
the one vs anxis was your last and you lost it right?
2013-03-26 13:54
The groups were Groups of 3/4 Top 1 goes through. The team he was in "playhack" lost 16 - 12 to Anexis, and then went into the Intermediate Tournament and won every game to win free tickets back to i49.
2013-03-26 16:30
lol :D Thats stupid.
2013-03-26 16:37
One agrees. The original format was going to be 4 groups of 7 and top 2 went through, but because 1 extra team signed up it had to be changed. Not even sure why.... but meh.
