NiP win Copenhagen Games 2013

NiP have won Copenhagen Games after yet another dominant performance, annihilating Western Wolves 16-2 in the grand final on de_train_se to win 16,500€.

NiP started off the grand final by winning the pistol round as counter-terrorists on de_train_se, with statistical leader Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg scoring two kills with his P2000.

Western Wolves managed to get a bomb plant and three kills on their save, but NiP quickly shut down their outer rush for a 3-0 score. After one more save the Danes finally got their first round thanks to Nicolaj "Nico" Jensen's three AWP kills, but it wouldn't last for long.

WW's outside fake was quickly shut down by NiP, and although Jensen saved his AWP, they weren't able to do much with it on the following round as Lindberg's M4A4 kills on the retake gave NiP another round, 1-6.

After another lost save round, Jensen and Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander were left in a two-on-four where they scored the first two kills, but Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund's SCAR picked up the round for his team.

Happy NiP squad in the prize ceremony

Happy Ninjas on the podium

As their frustration started showing through, WW attempted another inner attack, but despite getting the bomb planted, were shut down. Alesund's SCAR cleaned up the next save round, and suddenly the score was 1-10.

Nichlas "Nille" Busk's crash cost Western Wolves a round as they sat looking confused in spawn, and after another inner bombsite retake NiP had extended their lead to a dominant 12-1.

The Danes finally got their second round on the second to last round with Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson missing a few shots on Rossander, but he made up for it by scoring two AWP kills on the final round to make it 13-2.

Second half pistol round saw NiP's super duo, Alesund and Lindberg, combined for four kills to win the pistol. From there on out it was smooth sailing for two more rounds, with both stars ending up at 20 kills total.

Stay tuned to we will continue publishing more content such as interviews, highlights, photos and more as we wrap up our coverage from Copenhagen Games 2013.

+1 85-0...OMG. i can't imagine any team in history could have such streak in cs 1.6...its almost 1 year, what the fish other teams are doing???
2013-03-31 10:40
I think the only team that has been so dominant before is Old NiP/SK :D
2013-03-31 12:47
they were not even close to this
2013-03-31 14:31
those days cs growing thousands player day by day, now barely any stream can make over 1k
2013-03-31 15:27
that's not true lol. Many streams were 3k+ and even one got off to ~15k
2013-04-01 11:32
They are the only team who got CS as a fulltime job , probably the primair reason for their dominance :)
2013-03-31 19:53
shocking also LOL @ ALTERNATE onliners

2013-03-31 03:56
That was a joke right?
2013-03-31 03:57
they definitely stood a chance of getting into the finals. Anyway he's baiting
2013-03-31 04:00
the couldnt even beat epsilon navi would have finished lower than esc
2013-03-31 04:03
but they beat Fnatic huh
2013-03-31 04:06
+ it would definitely more interesting than WW and VeryGames
2013-03-31 04:14
navi is simply waaaay worse than those both teams... navi maybe top 10 but not top 5
2013-03-31 04:39
Yes, they beat a fnatic that was told they had already finished first in their group. So after winning the first map they pugged it. If you watched it you could tell.
2013-03-31 04:30
Look where fnatic finished...Na`Vi beat fnatic...and it's another day anyways, so a lot things would've been different. Na`Vi are the San Antonio Spurs of CS, you should never doubt them!
2013-03-31 04:10

nice bait
2013-03-31 03:58
Na'Vi would have lost either against VG, VP or WW. They weren't playing good on this event. The fact that they struggled that hard against Fnatic shows it.
2013-03-31 04:00
Quantic lost map against Alternate yesterday(hence they struggled) and look where they got. Your argument is irrelevant!
2013-03-31 04:02
Oh really ? ^^ The difference is that Quantic played very well on the event, and made it to the upper bracket, while Na'Vi didn't. We can't predict how they would have done in lower, but I'm pretty sure VP or WW would have rolled over them with single digit (maybe VG as well). They just had a shit event, it happens. They'll come back stronger on next one (hopefully).
2013-03-31 04:16
You're basing your conclusion on a too small sample size! fnatic are not a bad team! Na`Vi for sure didn't have their day, but you cannot claim that Na`Vi would've played bad on the next day in the playoffs too!
2013-03-31 04:34
No I can't, that's why I didn't. I just said above that we can't predict how they would have done, but based on what they showed on the event before that, they wouldn't have made it. And I didn't say Fnatic are a bad team either. They are probably top10 or top 15, which is good.
2013-03-31 04:38
2013-03-31 04:20

2013-03-31 10:23
Do you think that some other team can repeat what NiP did in these 8 months?
2013-03-31 10:52
This is irrelevant, since the real competition started only in 2013 (before that only VG and ESC were decent teams). And even though, having no rivals whatsoever makes it a lot more easy than in 1.6 or Source days.

2013-03-31 12:36
1 map for grand final is ridiculous, knowing that most of the matches consisted with at least 2 maps. should have made a bo5 with nip 1-0 in a lead.
2013-03-31 03:59
Yep I agree. I think they need Bo3 for the consolidation final, and then Bo5 with 1 map handicap. Otherwise the team winning the upper-bracket has a huge advantage. Oh, and they to do the last part of the brackets on fucking SUNDAY !!! It's freaking ridiculous to make the spectators stay until 4 am...
2013-03-31 04:07
would be nice bo3 and if ww win first bo3 another bo3.
2013-03-31 04:08
how 'bout dat bo5 starting at 3:30am?
2013-03-31 04:23
even one map is too much for a match starting 3:30 am, you should know this. instead they should make a better schedule and make the final a bo5 with a 1 map lead for nip, as he said, would be better.
2013-03-31 09:32 if the final starts at 00:00 that could be great for bo5! bo3 its boring with NiP.. -> 20' final 1 map?
2013-03-31 13:33
00:00 is still far too late for a grand final. i've played a few bo5 finals in my days and imo they're too long. bo3 is a sweet spot, but it's hard to be fully focused for up to 4 hours in a row
2013-03-31 17:18
its alla navi's fault :D and fnatic :P
2013-03-31 17:48
no, it's all the admins' fault.
2013-03-31 20:18
i agree that players wouldn't want to play for so long, but 1 map for grand final is a joke anyway.
2013-03-31 14:42
why? because you wanted to see two maps of 16-2? a win is a win. that concept seems VERY hard to grasp for some people. is the superbowl a joke then, too?

2013-03-31 04:00
Gratz to NiP as always! Well played WW, you should be proud 100%
2013-03-31 04:00 played well
2013-03-31 04:01
Not having the final be a bo3 is pretty dumb. Always leads to boring matches. Especially on a bad map like train. "Upper bracket only needs to win 1" is a bad way of doing it, especially for a grand final.
2013-03-31 04:04
Well there should be some kind of advantage to the team who didnt lose through the whole tournament comparing to the team who lost once.
2013-03-31 04:06
That's fine but it's the grand final, both teams deserve to be there as much as the other. It always leads to boring finales.
2013-03-31 04:09
It was a BO3 just with NiP in the lead with 1-0. How hard is it to understand?
2013-03-31 04:18
I don't think there's any misunderstanding, I just don't think it's a very good way of doing it.

2013-03-31 04:08

2013-03-31 04:08
I see a lot of people commenting about WW, but actually it's VP that should be given a lot more credit and I think that they deserved more to be place 2nd. They already beat WW in a bo3 and WW were in a better situation considering that they were hot, while VP had rested for hours(GJ admins), but of course one could argue that they were more tired. What we can conclude from this event, VG is not the 2nd best team in the world anymore, NiP are still few levels before everybody else!

Nip shouldnt travel to dallas for the esea tournament, esea should just send them the check hehe.
2013-03-31 04:25
don't need to laugh after this sentence, it would be better. do this and then just 7 teams fighting for the second place.
2013-03-31 04:32
true... waste of time we can see winner already
2013-03-31 04:40
But then nip wouldn't lose their first lan map to an american team
2013-03-31 08:04
eventually csgo scene will be interesting eventualy
2013-03-31 04:27
wd although expected, gj quantic.
2013-03-31 04:29
i find it funny that people said ahh boring event nip always win blablablabla so i guest you guys dont like Tiger woods, Micheal Phelps or sports team like real Madrid, barcolonna, etc
2013-03-31 04:30
watching real madrid and barcelona in la liga is boring, they remotely lose. but in champions league isn't boring because exist competition. phelps also isn't boring because it's just 2 minutes and we just watch him on olimpiadas. tiger woods never watched.
2013-03-31 04:41
Barcelona*, and doubt any of those went 90-0 in games
2013-03-31 04:42
western wolves good surprise,,, anyway i dont find it more competitive and interesting to watch than 1.6... i dont feel it,,,,
2013-03-31 04:34
nobody is asking you to feel anything
2013-03-31 06:08
and who needs a question to give some opinion
2013-03-31 10:10
The game in general is boring compared to 1.6, and stop whining about comparing it since its a replacement game for most people and most tournaments.
2013-03-31 04:35
can't believe finals were bo1
2013-03-31 04:35
it was b03, but nip had one map advantage coming from the upper bracket.
2013-03-31 12:36
ohh, my bad then :)
2013-03-31 13:58
Lol Anexis are pretty mad.
2013-03-31 04:42
oh rly?
2013-03-31 04:43

2013-03-31 05:03

2013-03-31 04:49

2013-03-31 04:50
Well done to NiP, here are some stats: NiP lost 7/30 pistol rounds in total and 3/18 in the playoff stages and never lost both pistol rounds on a map. On average they only lost 6.5 rounds a map, losing 98 rounds in the whole tournament. Out of the total rounds 338 they played they lost 12 rounds in a clutch situation, 9 1v1s 2 1v2s and a 1v4. They only needed to clutch 12 of 240 rounds they won with 6 1v1s, 4 1v2s and 2 1v3s. Forest and Get_Right had the highest k/d ratio of players in the tournament, 2.13 and 2.05 respectively. Forest with the most kills in the main tournament 348 in 15 maps an average of 23 a map. Get_Right who used a Scar in the grand final managed to get 19 kills in total with it the most of any player. Xizt had a headshot ratio of 62% the best in his team bettered by only 11 players out of the 160 that competed in the main tournament. Friberg had the 2nd best headshot ratio in the team with 58% and had the 20th best k/d ratio overall. Fifflaren was just behind his teammate with the 21st best k/d and had 63 awp kills.
2013-03-31 05:40

haaha NiP siCK PlaYed, but shit event. Too much PC problems and shit like this.
2013-03-31 05:56
actually it was on of the best tournament ever.. and by far the best in CS:GO.. NO DELAYS AT ALL.. this shit with pc is the teams problem... cause they were using their own pcs..
2013-03-31 06:28
best tournament ever? no delays? what about fnatic vs WW , shitty rented pcs ?, what about retard admins? what about pause command not working and admins don't giving a shit? ROFL Not to mention this 10 minutes boring final , Na`Vi should have played this game
2013-03-31 06:50
are you kidding me...most of the teams rented pc available at the tournament you really think all these pc are best pc having no problem whats so ever ..
2013-03-31 06:58
Huahuehuahue rented PCs provided by organization, no delays? You think they scheduled the grand final for 4 am? Gibe moni plos
2013-04-01 11:00
are you insane or a troll? just to clarify: 1) the computers were all rented from the tournament - it was 110% the event organizer's fault. 2) more delays were caused (hours and hours) by admins being incompetent and literally taking hours to make a simple decision (e.g. fnatic-WW score, creating brackets, tiebreaker in group B, etc.) it wasn't the best cs:go tournament (dreamhack winter 2012 was) and it wasn't even in the top 50 of all time events. copenhagen games is a lan with a cs tournament. that's why its so badly organized.

2013-03-31 09:20

25-32. Natus Vincere 0_0 VP > WW
2013-03-31 10:11
VP vs. NiP was the real final for me. That was played in a reasonable time when both teams actualy were able to play at their full potential. Most of the teams that lost in the higher stages of the LB were just completely exhausted.
2013-03-31 10:17
Forest said that friberg used to be a big forest fanboy trying to do everything like him, using his config/mouse/settings...and now hes even trying to look like forest with that hat.

2013-03-31 12:04
don't want to blame or smthing, i think that WW were just lucky to pass through VG and VP due to the ammount of hours VG and VP waited for them, as Rahim mentioned NiP had time to relax and even to sleep while VG and VP had to wait
2013-03-31 12:16
easy for NiP

2013-03-31 12:21

How much does anexis regret letting the WW team go? I mean they went to the final at madcatz, now in the final at the biggest CS:GO tournament to date. These guys are really proving themselves as a consistent no.2 at LAN events that's for sure.
2013-03-31 13:10
NiP is NiP. WW,Quantic,Epsilon, mouz played great overall. NaVi joke. n!,3DMax, well hope next time better results.

2013-03-31 14:35
I dont understand why they have a girls tournament? This game has nothing to do with physical ability, its not about genetics here?? Put more money in 1 competition, would be better and more fair i think!
2013-03-31 14:50
You don't respect girls esports? Girls also wants to play.
2013-03-31 15:06
He don't say that girls does not deserve to play, but both competetitions to be played in 1 main tournament, so there would be more money for 1/2/3 places!
2013-03-31 15:14
Money, money.. ok.
2013-03-31 15:17
This is the reason, why people practice and play a sh^ty game like CS:GO :)
2013-03-31 16:03
2013-03-31 20:45
There was nothing stopping the females to play in the main tournament. They would have to go through byoc though since they choose not to play in any tournaments that could bring them an invite. Forcing female teams into a tournament would be complete bullshit.
2013-03-31 15:15
Great! Good result.

NIP team with best skill at the moment...but: -Navi have bad situation in CPH 2013, cause that they out of tournament. for me Navi will be champions again....cause they show his skill and is good....(in CPH win NIP, its too good!) -other who can play better NIP is Virtus.Pro, they do good try, but they need more lucky.... VP its relay good team...I really like to see they aim in Bx3 vs ESC :D NIP are good team but some day they will be lose and who do that is NAVI or VP....this will be in short time... What I don't get is the bo3 groups, and the double elimination. There are 2 good ways to run a CS tournament. bo1 groups where maps are vetoed and played in lurrpis format where the teams that win the first game, go up in the second game and the one that wins that doesn't have to play the third game and the teams that are 1-0-1 play the last game for the 3rd spot. For elimination either have 16, 8 or 6 teams advance to a single elimination bo3 playoffs. if you have 6 teams for smaller tournaments do the "IEM" way and have the 3-6 placed teams play the relegation playoff to get to the semi finals and the top 2 seeded go to the semis straight away. bo1 and double elimination in playoffs is always tiring and random.
